Less than three weeks after undergoing surgery to remove a bone spur from his left ankle, Ohio State point guard Aaron Craft is out of a cast and off crutches. The junior from Findlay was in attendance for Saturday’s inaugural Battle of Ohio Celebrity Charity basketball game between Team Columbus and Team Cleveland at St. John Arena.

Craft was walking under his own power and wearing tennis shoes on both feet.

“I can walk and everything,” Craft told Eleven Warriors, “I just can't run.”

Craft has dealt with the issue since he was in high school, but has played through the pain. The problem became evident to the public toward the end of last season, when Craft began to limp. He battled through it, though, and was a major contributor both offensively and defensively in Ohio State’s run to the Final Four.

He was named the Big Ten’s defensive player of the year for his exploits, tallying 98 steals.

Craft’s surgery took place on June 18.

“I should be fine by August, God willing there’s no complications,” Craft said. “I hope not, but you never know.”

Ohio State's practice begins in October.
