Good to see the presidents and NCAA are worried about these student athletes missing class time.
yancy gates is everybody's brother
Does that say Sparty is an 8 seed? I am confused.
just a typo. no reason to be confused
fixed, thanks man
Poor NC State and G-town.......Eades and Valentine looking for air time.
Living here in Gonzaga territory, yesterday was interesting. Confidence in the Zags abounded. So, I will eat lunch for free Mon & Tues on won bets. I kept telling them the Zags were good but Sacre is a very average player. 7ft tall and only 8 pts. He should get that every game in offensive tip ins alone. Sacre Bleu it.
I have both NC State and Ohio U in my Sweet 16! This could be claim to fame in the bracket contest!
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
I got nc state and usf....... So game on.
****igan smells like old water that hot dogs were boiled in. FACT
Helga: are you flying your Buckeye colors today, or fearing vandalism?
Actually I went to look for my buckeye flag on Friday and couldn't find it. I have had my house TP'd in the past and my next door neighbor said it had to to be the OSU flag. I think they'll root for us after a couple of days. The better we do the better they'll look.
I checked out a post-game article posted in the Spokane newspaper (online). I was impressed by how reasonable were the fan comments. One fan said, basically, "well, we were probably a but lucky against WVU because everything we shot up went in . . . I was afraid that things might even out for us."
They have been now to this tourney 14 times and have never made it to the elite 8. And they got beat by Sparty (in Spokane) Illinois and Indiana this year. So, many weren't optimistic and the sane ones knew our 0 > their 00 by far. Tried to get my boss to bet me (daughter goes to Gonzaga) but even he wasn't optimistic.
They made it to the elite 8 in '99...which started the national love affair with them.
Oh, forgot about that. Well that's the only time.
But Mark Few really is a class act. Folks keep wondering why he doesn't go to a bigger name program as he gets the offers but he's treated well by Gonzaga and sees himself kinda like Coach K where he can stay as long as he wants and the local fan base aren't insane. He also gets to go recruit in Europe, particularly France each spring. Not a bad gig.
Sparty mascot has fat legs and cankles. Why did they think that having a moscot with the legs of a 250 lb grandmother would intimidate the other team?
How can the C-Bus crowd be pro St. Louis? Did the Billikens ship in a lot of fans? I hope it's not Buckeye fans rooting against MSU - that wouldn't make sense to me.
Just as in any ncaa tourney site, the crowd is always pro-underdog. i dont think it has anything to do with rooting against the B1G.
So if Ohio State were playing St. Louis in front of the exact same crowd mix, they crowd would root for the underdog Billikens?
In Columbus, Ohio no way (possibly also Cleveland). At any other site, yes. Just look at yesterday...while there were a fare number of our faithful in Pittsburgh, everytime Gonzaga made a surge the crowd got riled up. It's just the nature of the beast. You are right on with your comment below, it is very true that people show up to the Tourney because its "an event". A lot of the people at the games didnt even watch an ounce of the Regular Season believe or not. It is hilarious though because everyone who pulls for the cinderellas in the first few rounds are the same ones who are crying that there isnt much talent on the floor when the small schools make it to the Elite 8, Final 4 etc.
I'm still kind of pissed at them for the B1G championship game, but I'd still root for Sparty.
Eric might have a point, though. Roughly what percentage of the crowd is locals in general and Buckeye fans in particular, versus St. Louis and/or NC State fans? I see quite a lot of red in the crowd, but the NC State are probably all geeked up and thus stuck around to watch the last game. Also, some sportsfans from within reasonable driving distance would choose to go this thing just because it's a cool "event" and might not have any allegiances to the teams in the pod or the B1G and will root for the underdog.
But if they are Buckeye fans in the stands passionately rooting against MSU in this game, that seems silly to me.
Yeah, I like Izzo. Hell of a coach, runs a clean program, and does those funny little entrances at Midnight Madness. If we can't win a National Title, I hope Sparty does.
My bracket has us vs Sparty in the championship. So far, I'm quite on pace w/ that.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/news?slug=ycn-11099046#mwpphu-po...
Somebody told me about this yesterday. It is pretty funny. She didn't like any of the Sparty's (there are 3 in the tourney) either.
The writer is a Michigan fan, and totally lied as no child picks anything over Brutus.
He states he's a "Michigan Man" but how does he not know they are the Wolverines? I guess it's because they don't being a mascot to the games.
Michigan has never techincally had an actual mascot, just a team nickname. Kind of like the Hoosiers.
Still, he should have at least shown her a picture of a Wolverine. They're ugly little creatures. Did you know the Eskimo word for wolverine literally means "skunk bear"?
I hereby motion that we offically adopt "Skunk Bears" as the official mascot name of TTUN on this website. All in favor say "aye".
Aye. I've always called them Skunkweasels, which incorporates dishonesty and sneakiness into the imagery, but your anthropological proof trumps that angle.
Michigan doesn't have a mascot, and on Friday we didn't have a tournament-quality basketball team.
It's the basketball team part that bothers me.
Good luck to you guys; I have the Buckeyes in my Final Four.
I was actually rooting for Michigan friday night (I was in the minority here). It would be nice for the B1G to be 10-0 right now. Michigan ended up with a fairly tough draw, but they also seemed to go all out trying to get a piece of the regular season conference title and then ran out of gas.
M Man, half of the time I truly appreciate your solid contributions to this site and the other half I am coming up with conspiracies on how you are trying to infiltrate and destroy the Buckeye fan base with your charm.
Tell me, which one is it?
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
It is for me alone, to know exactly how I plan to destroy the Buckeye fan base.
To be fair, Ohio U was probably more deserving of a 10 or 11 seed (at worst a 12... they had an RPI of 47). Their only losses were all pretty close, and they beat Northern Iowa by 17 and took Louisville to the wire at Louisville (game was tied with 1:50 left to play, Louisville ended up sinking free throws down the stretch to win by 5). Still though, Michigan should have won. They were simply outhustled and played lazy and without any urgency down the stretch.
Ohio U. just flat out won that game. I have this view that there is such a thing as a "good 3"; that is, a three-point attempt where the shooter is open, he catches the ball in rhythm and square to the basket, and can basically put up the shot as if it were a free throw. Ohio U. got those through much of the game, and made them time and time again. That's not lucky shooting, or some sort of "hot night" for shooting. It's good basketball, working to screen and move the ball and setting those shots up.
I think Michigan did look tired and outcoached. I wonder (I have heard nothing about it) if Novak had the flu. No matter; Ohio U. rightfully won the game with better play.
I am now hoping for the Bobcats to go very deep into the Tournament, so as to salvage some respectablilty for Michigan's losing effort. I don't see why they can't do it, playing as they have.
I think Beilein coached pretty well this year considering the talent he had available. It seemed to me that he got everything he could out of his team. The only complaint that I could see from the OU game was how Beilein depended on Burke to make a three. We will know better next year when he gets his new recruits. The B1G should be really decent again next year.
I think if Morris stood in school you guys woulda been very tough. Your center (Morgan?) straight up sucks...I somehow watched him alot and he is charmin soft...as much as I hate scUM, he straight up frustrates the hell out of me.

This love affair with Draymond Green is disgusting.
To be fair, in a year without a lot of individual talent, Green may be the most complete player in the tournament. I think his one big fault is that he's too unselfish at times when he should just take over the game, like right now.
No. Green is a class act, great person, and a great basketball player. You don't get to hate on Draymond Green just because he beat us twice this year.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
I'm just saying the commentators are acting like they're watching Michael Jordan.
Well, welcome to modern day commentating I guess. It happens with most winning team's star players.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
They were the same way with Evan Turner, and I enjoyed listening to all the praise for The Villain.
Exactly.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Green is an excellent player. The announcers have at times sounded like that for some of our guys. Like Craft yesterday. I'm ok with it. I'm still astounded with that rubics cube shit.
kicking myself for forgetting to wager on the Moneyline in that NC State/Georgetown game...Georgetown is overrated, per usual & NC State is hot

1 seed call...clearly an elbow for no reason other than to shove the SLU player away. no call.
wow -- that Mitchell guy for St. Louis, #3, looks like he's about 47 years old
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
Lot's of ticky tack fouls on Sparty down the stretch.
Seven fouls on Sparty in the last 6:45... 21 free throw attempts for SLU and only 6 for Sparty... make that eight now. Still, someone please tell the refs to let these boys play. The Big Ten teams will all be exiting next round if the refs continue to call fouls for breathing on someone the wrong way.
Anybody here think Purdue has any chance? If you look at their schedule, they only lost to pretty good teams (except that Penn St loss). And, St Marys was a decent team. Beat Gonzaga 2x. Still I have Kansas.
Great chance. Purdue gave OSU good games... Buford had to light it up in columbus to win.
Let your hobbies and interests supplement your life, not be the main course.
If they run the Lewis Jackson to the basket offense with Hummel, Bryd and Smith draining threes around it things could get interesting.
sorry for the late post...had to get back to my REAL LIFE. Yeah, I think all the Big 10 teams that made it have been thru the wringer and could b e upset teams. Not all are elite 8 teams, but Purdue could pull off an upset. They damn near beat us. (so of COURSE I think they can beat anyone)
it's raining in Dublin, we know. Please go back to the game.
*vent: the Taco Bell commercial that seems to be on a loop & running every 12 minutes...I doubt that "Matt Christiana" actually drove 900 miles for a Dorito-shelled taco. But, if he did --- why not just take doritos and put them around the interior of a taco? There -- you'd save a lot of gas money and trouble. Maybe he just wanted to take a road trip. Also, the kid looks like a stoned burnout; I bet he just got lost on a cruise and ended up at a Taco Bell by accident...on the other side of the country.

Harold and Kumar go to Taco Bell?
P.S. The Dorito taco is ok, nothing to brag about. I'd be really pissed if I drove over 900 miles for one.

THAT is your basic STFU.
Oh, I saw that game when they did the time-elapsed segment on Aaron Craft doing Rubik's Cube. I thought it was fantastic. One of the best off-court features of the year. Kudos not only to Craft, but to the CBS Sports producer who had the great ide to feature the video that way. Brilliant all the way around.

what is going on in the schott? games at nationwide are over
Oh....then, never mind.

haha....omaha site is empty. they could play this game in a high school gym.
I noticed that as well. Nebraska sucks.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Do DVRs have a fast forward button if you are watching live?
Who thought it would be a good idea to make a 3 stooges movie?
OU/USF a tight one...LeHigh is demolishing Xavier early. Wow.
OU/USF will probably come down to the last shot. Lehigh is just curb stomping Xavier right now, can they keep it up is the question. They didn't run into a buzzsaw like Norfolk St did in the Florida.
Xavier finished off the half nicely.
Indeed!
Kendall Marshall, broken wrist today.... Thats huge for, god willing we make it that far, the final four match up we may have... looking to be most likely kansas now coming out of that part of the bracket
or purdue if hummel is gonna go berserk.
Any chance the kid can play with that injury? My first thought, reading your post and then checking out the news, was that he'd be out-for-season. But, after the injury, Marshall played another few minutes and even made two assists. Apparently, he's a lefty and he broke his right wrist. Maybe he can get a brace and gut it out? He's probably their most important player.
As the PG that's tough, depends on the severity of the break/fracture. If it's to the point where he can't dribble right, then what's the point of having him out there? They don't need him to score that much, he's mainly a distributor.
either way he would not be nearly as effective as he could be... I love the match up of Craft vs Marshall with no righ hand
Go Purdue!
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Go Xavier, Ohio, Cincy, and Purdue!
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
I want none of them.
Nope, go all of them!!
Good for you man.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Alright X-men now it's a game!
Looks like Hummel is feeling it so far tonight.
Purdue's defense is not good, so Kansas will be back in this game.
Ohio wins! The B1G and the state of Ohio almost have complete ownership over the sweet 16, with a little bball royalty mixed in.
OMG Bobcats!!!! Too CooL!!
2 OHIO teams in the sweet 16.
Big Fat will be so confused.
TLB:LOL. Funniest thing I've seen all day. Ohio here, Ohio there, what is a skunk bear to DO?
Congrats Bobcats!
As much as I hate Cinci fans, it would be nice to see 3, maybe 4 Ohio teams in the sweet 16...
let's go Cats and X-Men...
"Don't put syrup on shit, and tell me it's pancakes"

When did Hodor start playing for Xavier?
lol Nice GOT reference!
Robbie Hummel is unstoppable tonight, he's got 22 points in the first half against Kansas.
reminds me a little bit of a night at their place a few years ago...some guy named Turner destroyed them in the 2nd half...
GO BOILERzzzzzzzz
Still no OT games this tournament. Odd.
Walter Offutt (yes, that Walter Offutt) coming up huge for OU today. Good to see 2 W's for him and Groce.
I thought the same thing Friday night... "Wow, there's Walter Offutt!"
"Don't put syrup on shit, and tell me it's pancakes"
No matter how sh*tty the tour is, it's always tough to leave.
As did I. And Nick Kellogg has obvious ties to OSU as well as attending St. Francis DeSales in Columbus.
Wow, AT&T you really either got lucky on something on the internet that might go viral or you did a quickie commercial ripping off an article.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/news?slug=ycn-11099046
Even if fake this is amusing.
Watching the Cincy v. FSU, I'll have a hard time stopping myself from having bad thoughts.
The little devil on my shoulder will be like, "let's see violent collisions, a bench clearing brawl, 3 or 4 flagrant fouls (that are actually flagrant, a la Charles Oakley), and - while we're at it - maybe they can borrow the C-Bus Bluejackets slippery court . . .
The angel on my shoulder (If I had one, who am I kidding?), will be like, "tsk, tsk, these are young college student athletes . . . it's morally wrong to root for any of them to get hurt, etc."
The devil will respond, "I don't mean seriously injured, just out for a week."
And so on. What's a morally suspect Buckeye fan like me to do?
A note on the court - it's like they missed a layer from the ice to the court or something. It either kept condensing up to the floor (if that makes sense) or sweat would just not evaporate off the floor. Either way, pretty sure the Schott has ice underneath and the games in Pittsburgh and Nashville were in hockey arenas - don't know if they had similar issues or not.
It used to happen a lot in the 80s in the old Boston Garden, especially in the heat of summer during the playoffs. Despite many multipurpose venues, I hadn't heard about it happening much in recent years.
Nashville was worse than Nationwide the first day.
Not sure what was going on at Nationwide. The ice actually comes up in puzzle pieces like the basketball floor and is stored in a cooler, so I am told
Brady Hoke's thoughts..."How did Ohio get into the Sweet 16 twice? I'm confused"
Class of 2010.
LOL
I see that Enterprise commercial and I cringe. I don't want to see a Buckeye Athlete renting cars at the airport. Am I alone?
Bless all of you who will stay up for the final game tonight. I'm on pacific time and I think this is a bitch for what supposed to be the EAST.
You get used to it here
I'm on pacific time as well. If anybody wants to switch time zones for the night I will be up late anyways.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Unable to have a football playoff because these student athletes will miss too much class time.
But these basketball student athletes can play Sunday 10PM games, and the winner gets a Thursday game so they have to be at their site on Tuesday.
Might this help the Buckeyes? Winner of FSU/Cincy will have one day less practice than the Buckeyes, so their coach might not give them a (probably needed) day off.
I think it will be a tremendous help. We will have been done some 32 hours before them, then they have to travel home, spend 1 night at home and travel again.
KU looks like us defensively against Purdue's offense...uh, what's a ball screen?
I'm just wondering, and trying not to be hostile, but have you ever said anything positive about our basketball team? Everything that comes from your keyboard is negative.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Well, he is implying that other, ostensibly good teams (like KU) can be as bad as Ohio State, which is a backhanded way of saying that the Buckeyes only kinda suck. Sometimes, the first step forward in becoming a positive person is a baby step.
You have selective reading, that's all I'm gonna say.
Selective reading is better than illiteracy (not saying you're illiterate, just that these days we can't be so choosy).
Nope. If you've ever posted anything positive, I haven't seen it.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Well, I thank you kindly for taking time out of your day to comment on my posting. Still, without insulting you, I can only say you are wrong.
Its all Will Buford's fault, man. Blame him.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Thank you for your contribution to the discussion. Insightful.
LOL, just having some fun. Just as you were when you invited fellow posters to a "Willie Buford graduation party." Or was that supposed to be valuable insight on your part?
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Do you not celebrate other people earning a degree, let alone one we've watched and cheered for the past 4 years?
Keep telling yourself that was your intent, friend.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
switched over to Purdue/Kansas...wtf is Xavier doing?
nevermind, looks like they closed it out.
Purdue will have to keep scoring at a high rate because their defense is spotty. At some point, KU will make a run unless Purdue stays hot offensively.
Apparently ladies and gents, the B1G was indeed a really, really good conference. If PU makes the s16, when was the last time a conference put 5 teams in said s16?
Yeah, but the last two years, the Big East got 11 and 9 teams, respectively, selected into the 68. Any conference can win tourney games. It takes a special conference to lose most of their first and second round games every year, yet keep getting double digit invites to the Dance.
But they didn't get five teams into the s16- either year, that I recall
Yeah, after so much spittin' on our conference I hope we all progress In BIG whatever we are now for those that can actually count, course except Skunk bear which a BETTER OHIO team did them in. and dammit , until they play us in my bracket for the championship. I wish Sparty luck.
And since someone else had a rant....
>start rant > Change the name of the conference. Honestly, we'll get over it in like 10 seconds. Your stupid splits with even stupiler names are just that. Put NEW marketing guys in and come up with a name. We ARE NOT THE BIG TEN ANYMORE. Get over it like a 2 yr old would, or if he didn't his MOMMA WOULD TELL HIM TO DO SO. You are not listening TO MOMMA.
<end rant
I'm torn on this Purdue/Kansas game...I knew everyone would pick Kentucky, UNC, and Ohio State to win it all in the pool, so I went sort of off the wall with Kansas. But Purdue is playing well...would make 5 big ten teams in the S16, and you can't root against Hummel.
Hey Red, I have Kansas in final 4.
Purdouche will not be able to hang on
Robbie Hummel is the tallest guy on the floor
T-Rob has looked bad. We'll see if he turns it up the last 9 minutes.
Purdue wilting...
I am surprised that DJ Byrd is still out on furlough. Either the Gov of Indiana is a Purdue grad/fan, or he is soft on crime.
Only read a couple stories on the incident...why is Byrd on the team but Barlow was kicked off?
I'm just kidding. DJ Byrd looks like he belongs in a correctional institution, but he might be a fine upstanding man for all I know. I did hear about a bar fight or something, but don't know any of the details.
go purdue....pleeze?
ok...why were we all worried about FSU?
Both of these teams are playing so frantically that they both look bad.
I don't think Hummel is going to let them lose
streaming has become sketchy...it keeps re-looping every 30-40 seconds. Weird. Anyone else having issues with the Purdue game?
Not me but HANG ON PURDON't
How bout an all B1G Final 4? Indiana upsets Kentucky, Purdue gets past Kansas and UNC (injured PG), MSU and OSU handle their business...
You are reading my thoughts. I'd take 2 of 4...but it would be cool'
STFU Sec.
Ugh, there's a timeout like every other possession. This game is going long. Will Purdue pull a Purdue or hang on to the lead?
...pulling a Purdue.
3 pt lead 1:598 left gooooooooo Purdue!!
This is a good game.
We all wanna root for Purdue..........then they start that stupid Boiler Up chant.
Purdoh!
well the only good news is we just found out how beatable they are. NC will toast them.
Purdue fans, what a great game. You had a great team.
Fail
Byrd gets last shot . . .
Blew it.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Dumb to dunk there.
Agree, but honestly, in the heat of the moment I would've done the same thing as a college player.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
I'd agree with you except both teams did lots of dumb things. Excellent skill on display all night, interrupted by repeated dumbiness on both sides.
damn. damn.damn Purdue.
sooooooooooo close
Two dumb teams, but one had to be dumber than the other.
Hummel wants to cry but wont do it on the floor.
Gotta respect that. You have to respect Hummel in general.
Screw Adam Morrison. That bullshit to this day pisses me off. Not only on the floor, but before the game was even over when Gonzaga still had a fighter's chance.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Looking at how Purdue lost games this season, this shouldn't be surprising...
Not sure what Purdue was doing at the end of the game. Up by 2 and shooting 3s doesn't make any sense. They should have gone for the easy score inside and possibly get the foul. Purdue played like special ed kids for the last 30 seconds of that game. No offense meant by my comment.
The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender. - Woody Hayes
I agree a bit. You were beating their butts honestly. DON'T CHANGE .
I agree a bit. You were beating their butts honestly. DON'T CHANGE .
Wow, you'd think Kansas just won a trip to the final 4 the way they're reacting. Dear lord, you just got lucky agianst some average big ten team who has a key contributor no longer on the team. Calm down Jayhawks. You still have a long way to go.
Winning any NCAA tournament game, particularly at the end of the game like that, is incredibly exciting. Sometimes I find myself being irked at teams that celebrate barely beating an inferior opponent, but I try to put myself in their shoes. Its quite an experience.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
True, but they just struggled (at least early) against Detroit and didn't look very good in this game. They were going all "OMG LETS GO" all out after that final bucket and miss. Just kinda weird because they've looked dare I say bad in this tournament so far. Bad's probably not the right word, but definitely not sharp.
Purdue is a very good offensive club and they played above their heads defensively tonight - would have been a tough out for anyone. If Purdue hadn't been so dumb at times, they play a near perfect game.
Who does Sullinger have the better matchup against?
Y. Gates or B. James?
not sure that matters. Guards on both teams are not very good.
didn't see the 1st half of UC/FSU...but man, this is some UGLY basketball.
You're watching 2 of the best defenses in the country.
LOL
I think FSU is just blinded by the neon
Not really a laughing matter. The Buckeyes have to play one of these teams.
both are guard challenged. we have played this type of ball several times this year.
Cincy plays 4 guards. wtf are you talking about?
If you believe the east coast press (media). How they faring so far in this tournament?
If Ohio State gets FSU, they'll force the Seminoles into a lot of turnovers. I actually like the matchup. Reminds me a bit of the 2010 matchup against G. Tech, which had 21 TOs that afternoon.
Sheesh, how short is Cincy's coach?
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
The reason neither of these teams can dibble or pass the freakin' bball is because they're two of the best defensive teams in the country.
You don't beat UNC and Duke twice, or beat more ranked teams than any other team out there if you play piss poor defense. Get a clue, chief.
I remember you. You're that guy who loves to build strawmen:
By your logic, me not necessarily agreeing that FSU and Cincy have two of the best (meaning top 5 or 10) defenses in the country = "piss poor defense."
Hmm, I didn't realize that there was no territory between "best" and "piss poor." Is that what you tell your son, " second place is piss poor, son!"
Pomeroy has FSU defense 14th; Cincy's 24th.
14th and 24th out of 338 is pretty damn good as far as I'm concerned, chief.
First, you said two of the best. Now, you've lowered the bar to "pretty good." That's how you lose an argument, chief.
Btw, Pomeroy has Ohio State's defense 1st, MSU 3rd, Wisky 4, Gonzaga 32.
I said "two of the best." Cincinnati gets 8 steals per game, good for the top-50 (Ohio State averages 7.1, putting it at 102), and Cincy is 16th in turnover margain (Ohio State is 24th). I don't know what Pomeroy is, or what it uses for its criteria, but it's definitely not actual statistics. Again, these are out of 338 teams, and the top 50 is littered with mid-majors.
So, you believe what you want to believe in whatever fantasy world you want to be in. I'll stick to reality.
I don't want to get involved, thus I won't state my stance, but Pomeroy is the most respected stat guy in the nation. As far as "reality" goes, he's tops. Just saying.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Looks like he missed some.
Don't know what you're talking about, but Ken Pomeroy is the best basketball statistician out there. The guy is a numbers wizard. http://kenpom.com/
Right, I get that, but I'm just going by NCAA statistics. UC outranks OSU in multiple NCAA defensive categories as I've listed. But the point here was about what people were watching in the UC-Florida State game. FSU is top-10 in blocks, UC is nationally elite in steals and turnover margain. If you thought you were watching sloppy play as opposed to two willfully tough defenses, the national statistics would argue against you. Whatever is in Pomeroy's formula is proprietary and I don't have a subscription to see how he ranks his defenses. NCAA stats are free, though. What makes OSU's defense so great is their defensive rebounding, which leads into keeping their opponents to a low score.
Why do I suddenly want Hardee's?
Body bruises! Me likes.
UC with 1 timeout for the remaining 10 minutes.
Just saw the end of Purdue-Kansas. I'm not a basketball follower. But is tripping a player not a foul? It looked to me that the turnover by which Kansas re-took the lead (with seconds left) happened as a result of the Kansas player grabbing the foot of the Purdue player. The Purdue guy lost the ball as he lost his balance. Purdue led by 1 at the time.
How could that not be a foul? It was pretty obvious.
#fistpumpgobuckeyes
Should have seen the trip FLST just layed on Cinci a couple minutes ago.... followed by a knee drop driver to another Cinci player down on the floor... neither called.
Cheap fouls. Bench clearing brawls. Here we goooooo!
My final 4 and no, I've not altered it since 68 announced..I Have Sparty, Bucks, Ky and Kansas. This however, since I'm NEVER right I don't care about blowups. I Have as my final
tOSU vs Sparty. dont hate me, I see Sparty as winning. jes' being honest.
Is either team going to get to 50?
Will these two teams just hurry up and get into a bloody, bench-clearing brawl?
That's inappropriate...as was Yancy's suspension (did it stick at 6 games? what a joke).
Humor. I don't really want the brawl to be bloody, just punitive.
I know, I was kidding.
I'm liking our odds more and more for the Sweet 16 game. The most maligned Buckeye team perhaps of the Thad Matta era goes further than last year's team and the year before with the Villain?
Class of 2010.
Eh '07-'08 wasn't great.
I think Cincy's coach does my taxes.
This is a decent game here. Going to be a fun ending.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Does anybody have any idea what time our game will be on Thursday? I've dodged two potential scheduling conflicts with our first two games. I'm hoping that I get lucky again with a third dodge.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
We shall beat either of these teams distinctively. BOOK IT.
What color are those semenals uniforms?
WHAT A STEAL. Damn.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
We're playing Cincy, boys and gals.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
LOL.......dude threw one away (not good D, just not paying attention)......then travels looking for a foul.
woot!
cincy
The Buckeye state is unstoppable (for now).
UC pulling away.
Actually, shouldn't we be rooting for FSU to come back and the game to go into 5 overtimes?
Eh, maybe if our game was in two days. Regardless of what happens the winning team will have nearly a week to rest.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
We play Thursday. I believe they have to be on site Tuesday night.
Advantage Bucks.
Agreed, but I don't think overtime would make much of a difference.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
It's now into Monday morning...teams on site Tuesday, game Thursday. So that extra day could be HUGE, plus staff can scout on this game if they want.
Yes, but either way, UC will have one less day of prep and rest.
the state of OHIO rules all
Yes, great for Ohio, but now we have to listen to the UC fans get chippy all week. Wouldn't be surprised if they start trolling soon.
Good point. We should start a troll countdown clock.
Will the crackdown be on UC trolls othe regular trolls as well?
GOBUCKS!
These two best defenses in the country stopped playing defense with about 4 minutes left in the game. They must have worn out their defensive muscles just when their offensive muscles were catching their second winds.
stupid is as stupid does.
Ohio x4! Jabba head exploding in confusion.
OMG Ohios everywhere....nightmare; they promised me that this would never happen because the devil from WVa is gone but not there is OH-IO in every corner, iiieeee. Next we'll see the ghost of TOLEDO PAST!
Well, glad we have the thugs and gangstas in the sweet 16...meanwhile, good-guy Robbie Hummel couldn't quite get Purdue over the top.
"My kids are great kids" minus the part where they sucker punched another player on the court and kicked him while he was down...yeah, great kids.
He shouldn't have ran into the pile face first. LoL
go bucks
Lastly, should be interesting (fun?) for Thad to be coaching against his old team's arch-rival.
I think OSU is actually bigger than Cincy, correct? It's not often that we have the size advantage. Don't know much about what it means that OSU will be playing against a four guard lineup, but I think they'll be able to handle the physical play. This is where the pounding of the B1G schedule starts to pay off...hopefully.
OSU definitely has a size advantage. But so did Florida State, and Texas. So, it's going to be one hell of a game.
Neither FSU or Texas have guard play that is as good as OSU's. Sure Texas has J'Covan Brown, but in reality FSU's front court is what's formidable, not their backcourt, and Texas wasn't even the favorite against Cincy.
thursday 9:45PM
I am getting tired of these late games.
go bucks
I love living in Arizona because I get to have an entire day of basketball/football coverage without killing my 5 hour sleep requirement!
Nicely done Ohio teams... first time in NCAA history that 4 teams from a state have made the Sweet 16!!!
Congrats to the Bobcats!!! Nicely done!!!
BTW - The Billikens - really?!? That has to be the freakest and one of the most f@#$ed up mascots in the country.... yeeesh.
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
