Let's do this Ohio teams and Indiana!!!
The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender. - Woody Hayes
Xavier didn't hear you
I still pronounce it like it's located in Westchester, NY.
Yeah, they aren't looking very good at all.
The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender. - Woody Hayes
C'mon Bobcats!
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
I can't even watch the Baylor/Xavier game anymore. Not because of the score but because of Baylor's shitty colors are making my eyes bleed.
The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender. - Woody Hayes
My 8 yr old asked me if they glow in the dark. My wife said they look like they spent some time in Chernobyl.
Or Three Mile Island.
"Here officer, hold my beer while I find my license."
Funny thing: at our company luncheon today folks were bashing some uniforms. And everyone agreed the worst in the tourney was the scUMs. I didn't even participate but found it amusing. Then they looked at me and I said "Of course they are ugly. Like the win we hung on them in the big 10 tourney".
Bobcats need to slow the pace. And.... it looks early like really outmatched. Dang.
I know this is blasphemous, but I think scUM's white basketball uniforms are pretty clean.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
They were saying the yellow scUM ones were hideous. Baylor's look like they are the crew on highway construction. Blinding. Only thing missing is reflective gray tape on those.
Yeah the white ones are pretty nice. Are they allergic to blue? You'd think the Go Blue would never go yellow.
And Charles Barkley is right. Should have been a flagrant foul. Maybe a tech.
I feel for Clark Kellogg who got the bad draw to have to do a game WHILE his son is in the sweet 16. Suck-ith. Wonder if he has a little computer screen with the game on.
Did anybody happen to catch the halftime discussion of the Xavier-Baylor game? They're criticizing Baylor's obvious talent, yet inability to stay mentally focused for 40 minutes. That explains their early momentum that has completely shifted Xavier's way, and how it separates Baylor from the elite teams in the tournament. Sound familiar? I know some people around here have gotten frustrated with our criticisms of the Buckeyes lately, but it's because we know this is true. We cannot win it all with anything less than three consecutive games with 40 consecutive minutes of that intensity we saw in 8 minute chunks last night - and a lot of us are skeptical that this team can do that since we haven't seen it all year. I sure hope they can do it, but until they do I'm going to stay critical of their inability to stay mentally focused for an entire game.
^+10 totally agree. When we aren't whining we are on and could win this whole damn thing. I do worry about that zone for 'cuse.
Bobcats are shooting awful! Ugh. There you go Kellogg!
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
D.J. Cooper is playing terribly and really selfishly. Bobcats are lucky to only be down 7.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
I think that's flagrant foul#2.
Xavier can't buy a 3pt basket. 0-10
Keep expecting #4 for Baylor to call a TO without having any.
Hodor for 2.
I can't watch the games. Which is sad. However, they do have a celtics game on, and someone came down hard on their back before banging their head on the court.
I hate seeing injuried players.
Turner's fall was pretty scary. Still can't watch it.
This is that level of scary, actually. The guy went for a lay up, someone blocked him from behind, and he went falling on his back -not his hip or butt, his back. Then he cracked his head on the court. They took him out on a stretcher, strapped up, and he might've passed out. His eyes were closed.
Smith's hard fall earlier this year freaked me out.
Cooper is playing sooooo sloppy!
" I went for two cause I couldn't go for three."
-woody Hayes
Ohio is playing awfully bad. They are literally incapable of getting a rebound against NC. How they are in this game is a mystery, but go Bobcats!
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Wow! They've caught fire.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Offut be ballin'
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Offut is straight flushing triples all over the court. Good for him. Love watching this Ohio squad. Props to Groce, too. These kids expect to win.
Kieley is garbage though.
And Cooper isn't garbage, but he's absolutely playing like it.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Yeah. He's struggling from outside but at least you know he's capable of catching fire. Nice work on the finish at the rim there.
Wow, went to do some house cleaning and THE Ohio came back. So I go back and start on the livingroom??
I say it's worth a try. Maybe they'll win by the time you are done.
You should probably clean my living room instead.
Crazy stat: Offutt and Kellogg are a combined 10/15 from deep so far. They have 34 of OU's 55 points.
Lemme think about that. No!
worth a shot
OU-IO Finish It!!!
GO BOBCATS!!!!
Offut can't foul out. Ohio has to realize that no non-obvious calls will go their way from this point on.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Would be nice to see the Bobcat runs. Everytime they run we are in comercial in NYC. Typical BS!
Ugh too many w/ 4 fouls. Go Bobcats!
Wow, Ohio ... cmon.
To be blunt, Cooper's got to stop being a bitch there, suck it up, and get back on defense.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Offut is in beast mode. That was a hell of a take!
Whoever that guy that said Offut > Smith Jr. I commend you. I still love Smith, but damn. Offut's got to make that free throw though!!!!
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Cooper likely lost the game for his team...his late reaction suggests he may have even been faking.
That being said too bad we couldnt hold on to Offut. We could have sure used those 3s this year.
"You're pissed because we went after a committed guy? Guess what, we got 9 guys who better go do it again," said Meyer. "Do it a little harder next time."
he was back on defense before the guy shot it and it wasn't his guy so i don't think it impacted things that much...but he should have hustled back, in that situation there is no time for complaining
He might have been back on his man in time but whoever was covering for his man had to run back across the court to get to Bullock who was wide open.
"You're pissed because we went after a committed guy? Guess what, we got 9 guys who better go do it again," said Meyer. "Do it a little harder next time."
OT
wOOT! Go Bobcats!
I find the "we go" commercials hilarious.
Ugh.
Props to Offutt for this performance but I think some folks need to gain perspective on the whole Smith vs. Offutt stuff. With the guys in front of him, it made sense for him to leave Ohio State.
And while he's had a hell of a game and a nice tourney, he played in a much weaker conference than Smith all year and didn't put up insane numbers by comparison:
Offutt: 44% FG, 36% 3FG, 71% FT, 12.0 PTS, 3.6 REB, 1.6 ASST, 1.7 TO
Smith: 48% FG, 37% 3FG, 59% FT, 6.3 PTS, 4.6 REB, 2.0 ASST, 1.2 TO
Simmer down with the stats there, bud haha. I agree with you. Look at that thread and see my stance on the argument. I was just making light of the fact that Offut had one of the best tourney performances of the year a few days after somebody brought up "Offut > Smith."
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
BOBCATS! Don't let up!
Trrrrrbl. Cooper needs to get his game back.
BOBCATS! Don't let up!
Cooper needs to stop shooting from the halfcourt line.
poor shot selection AGAIN.
Damn.
That was a foul? Now I remeber why I don't like basketball.
UNC will NOT make it.
Well that is too bad. I really would like to have Ohio win this. I do feel however that if it comes down to it later on, I much rather face a UNC team without a true point guard than a streaking complete team like Ohio. Looks like they won't pull out tonight but they are a dangerous team. UNC got lucky in regulation. Ohio had them and let them off the hook!
Well, this is a high flying game already.
Let's go IU. And where is their D? Does it exist?
Ohio just took awful shots in ot. To bad great run.
go bucks
Too bad about the Bobcats. This was everyone's chance to get rid of UNC. If Ohio doesn't allow a 4-point trip down the floor just after taking their only 4-point lead, and if Offutt can just make one damn free throw, they're making history tonight.
I'd be surprised if Kentucky-Indiana is very close.
The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W.
I like how IU has come out. And Davis already has 2 fouls. That's huge for them.
And these refs suck. Zeller is now out, too. Wow.
Yeah, it's pretty bad
2 fouls in 4 seconds on something so ticky-tack was ridiculous.
The fix is in against IU. They aren't playing well, but some of these fouls against IU are a bit touchy.
now that was funny. That is a loop I could watch over and over, scowl with the ball bouncing off your head. lol
I believe a .gif is needed of that clip.
And now they are tied. Let's go Hoosiers.
And the Hoosiers playing with their hair on fire.
Let's go IU!! Repping the Big Ten.
Okay, I hate still Tom Crean, and Jim Harbaugh is a Michigan alumnus (hardly a "Michigan Man", though), but I love the Harbaugh brothers.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
I hate Tom Crean, but love and respect Bobby Knight. The basketball version of Woody, and glad he's a Buckeye Alum to boot. Plus, I hate Kentucky more than I hate IU.
Wow, if I was a um fan, I'd be pissed at that shot! With the way this game is going, I like our chances...
"Don't put syrup on shit, and tell me it's pancakes"
No matter how sh*tty the tour is, it's always tough to leave.
Eh. Its not like IU and UM are rivals, and Harbaugh is just supporting family. (Assuming you are referring to Harbaugh cheering on IU?)
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Yes. I know they aren't rivals, but still...
"Don't put syrup on shit, and tell me it's pancakes"
No matter how sh*tty the tour is, it's always tough to leave.
I don't like dunks. I think they are harder to make than a nice lay up. Quite frankly, I think most missed dunks would be made lay-ups.
That was a horrible travel before the foul. And he initiated the contact. Wow.
Well, this has been an interesting half. So, either Kentucky isn't as good as we thought they were, or IU is better than they we thought they were.
both. I'm watchin this with kensucky fans. And ppl say we are obnox.
I think that UC and scUM fans can go in that "more obnoxious than OSU fans" catagory.
I think PSU and Wisky are the worst actually! Obnoxious would probably be us and UM. But straight up bad fans and complete A-holes, PSU and Wisky definitely!
Well, I have family that goes to Purdue and PSU, so I've never had bad experiences with those fan bases. I met a few Wisky fans this year, as well, and they weren't that bad either. scUM fans, though, are both condescending and obnoxious.
...But so are we... I can't say I love the "which fan base is the worst" discussion that always comes up. Each major college fan base is equally obnoxious and asshole-ish in their own, unique way.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
True. I guess it's just my scarlet colored lenses that get in the way.
I can agree with that. I am referring to the Sully incident in Wisky (and that is normal behavior around the worst ones) and that video of the OSU fans getting attacked by PSU fans.
I mean I am generalizing the question, there are A-holes who are fans of every team. Its just that down south they do stupid illegal crap then brag about it in detail on the radio. Out west they will just straight shoot you. Midwest gets angry and verbally abusive, then turn to violence. Harvard just tells you how much more money they will make!
Kidd-Gilchrist is good, but he travels (with no calls) every other time he has the ball.
I hate hate hate hate Kentucky. I hate their coach that should be banned for life from college basketball (if St. Jimmy has to sit out five years from college football for what he did on ONE occasion, Calipari should be gone for life). I hate their overrated uni-brow'ed manthing down low. I hate that they always get the call from officials, but still bitch like crazy on the rare occasion that they don't get the call. I hate how much better than them we were last year, yet still lost to them in the Sweet 16. I hate their obnoxiously dedicated fan base that makes any neutral game a home game for "Big Blue." (Okay, maybe that lost one is a little unfair.)

October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
I used to like Kentucky back when Pitino was there. Now that Calipari is there, I have no desire for the team. He is slime and is only a great recruiter. If Thad or Pitino had his talent, Champs hands down!
Harrelson was a low down dirty player and he butt raped Sullinger everytime and Sully never got the call. Harrelson couldn't straight up block sully, so he would swipe from the side. How can that be a block if he was getting all arm? It was complete BS.
Indiana is playing this game better than I thought. They have a real chance!
I echo your thoughts on "Jorts" killing Sully and getting away with it...
"Don't put syrup on shit, and tell me it's pancakes"
No matter how sh*tty the tour is, it's always tough to leave.
echo.....echo......echo.....echo........what the hell you do to me! lol
And then there's this...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCrBwIo6nEg&feature=related
WHAT A %$#&*@ PUNK! Watching that video still gets me worked up to this day.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
And to add to that, the fact that Sully didn't clock that fool back to his mother's arms just shows the kind of person Sully is. A much better person than me, as I would have knocked "Jorts" out.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Your not gonna get an argument from me there, they have some great athletes but I think osu last year was much better.
Thanks for getting my into Basketball 11W. But, the fouls and other calls are just too subjective for me. Seems like mostly a load of ref BS. I DO hope OSU can win it all but it won't mean much to me. I will, however, be looking for you all come Football season. GO BUCKS!
Just a friendly suggestion: You should try and get more into the basketball team next year. Over the years my emotional investments in the football and basketball programs have grown even, and basketball season makes for a very fun time.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
agree! We have a bunch of great guys that we'll see over the next coupla yrs. Plus... THAD MATTA!!
The the biggest difference between basketball and football is the observable physicality of the games. Football is so obviously physical, but some of that contact is allowed because of that padding (now). However, people overlook how dangerous and physical basketball is as a sport. Some fouls are absolute BS, but when you are constantly jumping to make shots and grab rebounds, the chances of falling hard in the wrong places is exponentially higher than you would think (re: Evan Turner). While reffing does suck, they are trying to minimalize the possibilites of injuries. There is a lot of shoving and pushing and elbows thrown and most kinds of contact you see in football. You just don't see it, and unless you've played basketball, it usually goes unnoticed.
And now IU is cooling off. They've made a good run thus far.
Defense optional apparently. No one rolling help side at all
Fundamentals are a crutch for the talentless.
Been like that the whole game.
Indie in the danger zone of letting it become a blow out.
I'm watching the K v. NC St game. Got tired of watching Indy's high school defense.
Well, they're doing better than i thought they would.
But the KU v. NC St game is just a better game. The UK v. Indy game reminded me of a WAC football game. There's no suspense when you know UK is going to dribble into the lane uncontested every time down the court and get easy layups that aren't even in transition half the time.
Oladipo just fouled out of the game. That is not a good thing for them. He's been giving them a whole lot of offense.
Well, I think IU is not going to pull this one out. They're playing tired and beat right now. Hopefully it will be better.
KU pulling away a bit from NC St.
Btw, NC St's coach (Gottfried) bit--es about the refs incessantly.
Ladybuck: I think we're the only two left not asleep or in a bar.
Probably. I'm having fun watching this game, though. Granted, the more I watch, the more I think UK is overhyped, and probably hasn't seen a real defense all that often.
On the bright side, Indy might have given a couple of UK players carpal tunnel from bending their elbows so often.
Haha! I have to say, I'm not particularly impressed with Kentucky. They are entirely beatable with real defense and shots made. Helping off the pick and roll would be a problem, seeing as they run that a lot. However, they play a style that is very dependent on players making plays in simple set. Just not as impressed with them as the media seems to be.
Well, Kentucky pretty much has this game. 2 minutes and IU is down 11. They are not a Duke.
NC State had a good look when they were in the lane.
Wait, why wouldn't he use a time out when he has a player limping?
I too see that team down south being very beatable. Not saying Baylor is the team to do it, but beatable nonetheless
Fundamentals are a crutch for the talentless.
There were so many chances the Hoosiers had that they could not capitalize on, and that was the difference. The media has overhyped them, and the relatively weak SEC conference only inflated that idea.
Let's go NC State! Make us look better for beating you at home without Sully.
LadyBuck, a friendly correction... I'm quite sure we didn't play NC State this year.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Hmm... Why did I think we did? Wait, that's SC State. Okay, thanks!
Tough. Let's go NC State! Let's do this. It looks like Kansas will barely survive and advance.
Come on NC State! Pull an Evan Turner!
Or not. Kansas survived and advances.
Cooper 3-20...Offutt missed free throw at the end...OU had it there and let it slip away.
