I'm getting video removed on the top video.

Bummer. It was a pretty cool postgame celebration video. Oh well, replaced it with Sullinger speaking to the press.

Maybe he is just calling both schools by the same name now. Who would do such a thing?

"You're pissed because we went after a committed guy? Guess what, we got 9 guys who better go do it again," said Meyer. "Do it a little harder next time."

Two things, we hit our free throws we beat the number 2 team in the country by 15...

Second: favorite part of last night...anyone see craft tell Williams to "dunk the mother fucker!" god I love that kid

buckeyenation owes buford.  We really do.  Guy's been a fucking starter for 4 years.  We've watched great teams for 4 years.  Buford has demonstrated hard work, dedication, sportsmanship...all the things ppl love in athletes.  And what do we do?  Tear the guy apart on line & talk shit about him.  The coaches believe in him, the team believes in him and it's about time the fans did too.

step up and show bu some love.  We wouldn't be here without him.

Colin's picture

You honestly can't say we wouldn't be here without him. He hasn't been of real value in this tournament. We tore him apart because he's played like garbage and taken a huge step back from last year. Of course the team believes in him why would they say they don't. I'm sorry I don't owe William Buford anything except congrats for being the only senior on a really good team.

Brutus's picture

You're absolutely right. You don't owe him anything. And he doesn't owe you, me, or anyone else who isn't a part of his team anything. Unfortunately, many seem to think otherwise and make it personal when he doesn't deliver. Not saying you are one of those people, but there are many.

And yes, I think it can be said that the team wouldn't be in the Final Four without him. The season didn't just start two weeks ago. If Buford doesn't make that shot against MSU we probably aren't a #2 seed. If Buford doesn't go crazy against Purdue, we definitely aren't a #2 seed. Buford is one of the guys that got us this far and it's a journey that started 38 games ago. Just because he wasn't a big part of the last four doesn't change a thing.

frozen buckeye's picture

I think fans should support their team.  Leave it to non-fans, haters, and espn to talk shit.  Buford's comments at the after game presser caught my attention.  So did craft's before game shout out to buckeye nation.

I think Willie has been of real value in this tourny. Value can be measured on defense and the glass just as much as it can on offense, especially when your team is already loaded with players providing offensive value. A hole on defense can be much more detrimental than a hole on an otherwise talent-loaded O. Willie has been inefficient and at times absent-minded on offense. Yes, I get nervous when he gets the ball. And when Jay Bilas calls Buford "clutch" (he's done so at least twice in the past month, probably more) I get pissed because it seems absurd. But without WB's very, very clutch boards against the Zags, a huge 3 when we most needed it against cinci, near shut-down D on Joseph after the first few minutes against 'Cuse and a few clutch free-throws to seal it, yes it's very possible the Bucks don't head to NOLA this weekend. I mean, I get it and don't argue, his offense is simply bad right now. But to argue that he hasn't been a key part of the Buckeyes success this year, including the tourny, is wrong. We're headed to the Final Four and Willie owns part of that.

Call me silly but if Buford goes 0-10 in a loss next Saturday, he'll be the first guy I'll want to thank Sunday morning for all he's given to the program. If he goes 0-19 and we lose, I might reconsider...

His defense has been stifling and his rebounding has been excellent.  You apparently only watch the offense and Craft on defense. Saying he has not been of value is just plain wrong.  He has significantly reduced his shooting load when his shots werent falling to help the team.  He made two quick ones to start the game and that kept Cuse honest the rest of the game.

Another thing I assume is pretty obvious but maybe it isn't - the offensive importance of the Willie B threat. Watch how defenders play Scott when he's in - they sag and can help down low. Not the case with WB. Coaches dedicate resources to his threat because they know what he's capable of, regardless of how often he actually goes off. The result is an inability of whoever's guarding him to concentrate on much else.

I don't care if it's Willie's offense or the ghost of Willie's offense - if it causes problems for other teams' D, I'll take it.

awwwwwwop's picture

yea. even Thad made a reference in his post game presser to Lenzelle understanding that Cuse was shading to Willy and therefore he had open looks

Great comment, Frozen.  You are 100% right. Buford's shooting isn't always the greatest, but his contributions to this team are very important.

absolutely correct - there is far more to being a great basketball player than being just being a scorer.

Thanks for that video, that was an awesome play. I just wish someone would make one of Craft telling Williams to "dunk that motherf*cker." I missed it and everyone keeps talking about it.

BuckGnome's picture

Thanks for the clip.  I can't fathom why that dunk wasn't featured in the highlight reels more.  Such an awesome play by Thompson and Craft.

What kind of odds does Ohio State get if Baylor manages to knock off Kentucky today?

RedStorm45's picture

the best kind? (kudos if you get that movie reference)

Nick's picture

Buford still getting trashed had 13 points and 9 boards and played good defense.

William's picture

The problem I have with Buford is that he isn't efficient offensively.

RedStorm45's picture

3-12 shooting, 1-5 from 3.  Not a bad game but he's a scorer, he's got to shoot 5-12 at least in this type of game.  Then again, everyone says we go as far as he takes us and he's been average at best on offense and here we are.

Boeheim post game presser highlights:

"I guess we fouled them too much..." (muttering)

"Craft didn't bother us."

"We did alright with everyone except Lenzelle Smith"

JakeBuckeye's picture

I like Jimmy B., but he is just terrible with post game pressers. He's not good with the media after a game. He comes off like a dick most of the time, even after a win. Its probably just a product of being tired after a hard fought game.

Nick's picture

He said Ohio State is better on defense without Sullinger in the game

RedStorm45's picture

Yep...something along the lines of they may actually be better with Sullinger off the floor.  Reasoning: Sully doesn't step up on the pick and roll and doesn't have the length or quickness ro make up for it.  Still, sorry to Rav and AW but I'll take Sully's offense over their D.
