Luke Fickell is now 1-0 as a head football coach. The Buckeyes are 1-0 to start the 2011 season. The pain of the off-season still lingers a bit, but today sure made things feel a lot better.
Football is back in Columbus, people, and the Buckeyes are on a mission. Playing without Jim Tressel for the first time in over a decade, Ohio State took care of business in The Horseshoe, dismantling the Akron Zips 42-0. The defense was dominant, registering 5 sacks and an interception while notching the season's first shutout.
This season should definitely be a fun ride. Time to get ready for Toledo, but in the meantime, we party on. O-H

Brady Hoke is a fat piece of shit.

How sweet was Evan Spencer's one-handed catch?
Very sweet. Nice to see a frosh rise up.
That was the best catch I've seen at any level in a long time.
It was AWESOME flipbuckeye!! Congrats to Luke on his 1st of many wins in Columbus. Love the way the freshman looked today, a lot of future studs on this squad.
Hoke is a fat piece of dung, you are correct.

WMU marching into Michigan territory. 3 first downs already.
Make that 4. 1st and goal at the UM 8.
Same ole Michigan D from what I see so far.

Michigan 1 yard away from 7-0 to their little sisters. Gotþa love it!

Rooting for every Big Ten team except Michigan today. And against every SEC team except maybe Georgia (I'm torn on that game.)

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Hi Brady Hoke.

But I thought Michigan is back?

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. GERGMattison.

Velcro and Taylor Martinez will be out before you know it, with all their designed runs.

Much hyped ND defense already down 7-0 to USF.
99 yard fumble return
Wow...those are back-breakers typically.
Notre Dame already down 7-0 to S.Florida

Where's the pro style offense that tSUN is supposed to have

USF field goal good, up 10-0.
Just back from the Shoe. Initial thoughts: some very nice surprises in the form of freshmen making impact plays (DE's 50 and 90 in particular). WR's played better than most expected I'm sure. O-line had complete control today (as should be expected). Carlos Hyde got better as the game progressed. Smith did not. Baus is boss, but Miller will get better every week and keep challenging him for minutes and possibly the starting role. Lastly, walk on senior Nate Ebner had a career day.
Nate Ebner was actually given a full scholarship...it was announced just a couple days ago.
UM ties it up to start the 2nd quarter. Might not see much punting today.
Nebraska just hit a 50-yard FG to go up 10-0 over Chat.
ND is turrible

The more things change, the more they stay the same
I hate ND but they are killing themselves with turnovers.
Mich D might be worst than last year

They really dodged a bullet there. WMU receiver drops a potential TD pass, then they missed the FG.
Wow really Irish, 13-0? Already

I know some of you may think this blasphemy, but did anyone else think Bauserman looked a bit like Krenzle today? Good reads, nothing forced, good accurate throws and timely running? I know I'm getting way ahead of myself, but that's the Buckeye I found myself thinking of....

I was thinking the same thing IH8. Great minds think alike.
"Here officer, hold my beer while I find my license."
Crush.
I wouldn't go that far, Krenzel is a legend. Baus is playing safe vs mid majors

Krenzel never played that good vs anyone. He could make a play when you needed one.
Anyone get a Freshman count of who played today? Mighty impressive...
I was too dazzled by Evan Spencer's one handed catch to remember any other freshman outside of Braxton Miller (since he threw the pass).
Miller, Smith, Huerman, Underwood, Bobek, Spencer, Bennet, Hale, Shazier. Doran and Curtis Grant. That's all I remember.

Shazier needs to see the field the kid is a beast.
I said looked a lil bit. By no means do I think Bauserman is near the player, leader, and winner that Craig Krenzel was.
But, he was a lil reminiscent of the style of play and skill set. Much is yet to be seen, but I was pleasantly surprised with what I saw today.

ESPN already prescheduled (stupid move) to go to Michigan for gameday for UM vs. Notre Dame next week. ND looks awful and Michigan looks very "meh." Great job ESPN. Not that I would watch regardless of where you went.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
It costs a lot of money to land GameDay...something like 25,000 dollars. I say bleed them dry.
Have we ever had such a freshman impact in an opener like we did today? Verlon with 3 grabs, Devon Smith with 3 rec and a TD. Braxton's performance, Spencers catch. Ty Williams had a catch. Bennet and Baldwin with sacks.
I know he's not a freshman, but Ebner is a boss! Going to be our special teams MVP this year no doubt

Number 34 on special teams, I believe it is Nate Ebner, had an awesome day on special Teams.
He also came in at the STAR position on defense and registered a sack for a 13 yard loss.
