Tuesday Practice Notes - Bauserman Makes His Move

The 11W practice video uploading machine is busy transferring about 20 videos of footage and interviews for your enjoyment later today.  In the meantime, here are a few bullets from Tuesday morning practice:

  • 2004 high school graduate Joe Bauserman and freshman Braxton Miller dominated the first team snaps today, creating some separation in the middle of the QB depth chart.  By all accounts Bauserman looked the best of all quarterbacks today, with Miller also playing very well and demonstrating that he's steadily shrinking his learning curve.
  • Nathan Williams did not practice.  DeVier Posey and Tyler Moeller were in yellow jerseys.  One of the videos that is uploading shows a calm Luke Fickell talking about how their limited involvment was more of a precautionary move than it was about severity.
  • Mismatch-in-training T.Y. Williams dropped several passes, including one that hit him right in the hands.  If Williams can figure out a way to make his mitts stickier, he's going to make life a lot easier for the winner of the QB derby and create some significant stress in opposing secondaries.  If not, he'll have a seat on the Bam Childress Memorial Bench.
  • Ohrian Johnson, Christian Bryant (in at the STAR position for Moeller) and Zach Domicone collected interceptions today - you'll get to see all of them later.
  • Bradley Roby seems to be emerging as the corner who will play opposite Travis Howard.

Moving pictures on the way.

love me some practice notes.

Any notes on rb's?

You have got to think that if Bauserman, and Miller are getting the majority of snaps. That eventually miller wins this. 18 more days to find out. Those days are on Miller's side seeing how he has had limted time to pick things up and bauserman has been there since... well forever!

Roby - was a steal from the south love it. Gotta think howard, and him could be amazing duo for the next two years if howard doesn't bolt. Jim Thorpe award anyone?

Ohiran Johnson in the star? Is he losing his saftey position? I hear people calling for his head already.

Thanks Guys, and Gals!

Bryant was in at STAR, not Johnson.

We know how the QB situation will play out when Bauserman is either getting sacked, running for his life, or throwing Jacory Harris's. The more mobile Braxton or Kenny Guiton will be brought in to make plays.

It amazes me how both Robey and V.Reed are pushing for starting spots as redshirt freshman, considering both played different positions in high school and neither were very highly touted. Impressive.

BUCKEYES BABY!

Carlos Hyde and Jordan Hall still getting most of the reps at RB?

Don't like hearing that N. Williams sat out. Hopefully he just needed a day off for something very minor.

If Joe B. can manage a game (which I have my doubts about) I suppose he is the best choice to start the season. I really hope Miller gets some major snaps in the first 2 weeks. Not mop up snaps, but 1st and 2nd quarter snaps.

vacuuming sucks

Roby really has been impressing. We are loaded at CB with Roby, Howard, Clarke and Allen. How has Pitt Brown been doing? Haven't heard much.

Clarke filled in for Chekwa and Howard in the Sugar Bowl and did very well.

Absolutely. For very play that dropped jaws, there were 5 that made you think, "did I see that or did someone put a sheet of acid in the keg?". So frustrating.

I thought you could only reference Bam Childress when writing about Spring games?

Basking in the wake of mediocrity.....

No, that was Taurian Washington.

Obviously some insanity sidetracked some notes from today.

Would like to know specific updates on Moeller as we all progress through the next few weeks. I have heard tonight that Moeller says he is fine (yellow jersey), but still. This kid can play. With the terrible luck he has had throughout his career, I am pretty much begging for him to have an injury free season.
