Thomas Makes Seven

After signing Jeff Heuerman and Nick Vannett in the recruiting class of 2011, it didn't look like the Ohio State coaching staff would be signing a tight end in 2012. Those initial thoughts were apparently wrong, as the Buckeyes extended a scholarship offer to Cleveland St. Ignatius TE Blake Thomas last week and the lifelong OSU fan acted quick, committing to Jim Tressel earlier today.

Thomas, who stands at 6-4/240, seems to be the perfect fit as a tight end at OSU, thinking block first, catch second. Don't be fooled though, as he does have good hands and moves very well for a guy his size. He had offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Louisville, Indiana, Virginia, and others before deciding to take his talents down I-71 to Columbus and it appears the Bucks got to him at the right time with many expecting his offer list to "blow up" after attending various football camps this summer.

Thomas joins Frank Epitropoulos, Josh Perry, Warren Ball, Brionte Dunn, Jacoby Boren, and Kyle Kalis as members of the 2012 recruiting class. This class will likely number about 20, so with only 13 spots left, look for things to starting heating up as we approach the summer time and stay tuned to 11W for the latest on what should be a sensational class despite the on-going turmoil the program faces.
