PREVIEW #2 Ohio State at Florida State
RADIO: OSU Basketball Affiliates

Sully and mates get their first big defensive test of the year when they take on the Seminoles in Tallahassee tonight. Chris Singleton, the reigning ACC Defensive Player of the Year will be a force at that end of the court, but he's also improved his offense, entering the game putting up nearly 16 per night.

The game is obviously also important for what's at stake in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.  The Big Ten won their first of these last year after dropping the previous 10, but the Gophers did the league no real favors by losing at home to Virginia last night, putting Delany's crew in a 0-1 hole.  It will be up to the Buckeyes to right the ship and even out the series before the remaining eight games are played out over the next two nights.

So, grab some suds and popcorn and settle in as we will the Buckeyes to a victory over Florida State this evening.

I'm not too into basketball but they are on ESPN and they are really good so I watch...I imagine this being a fairly easy game.

TLB's picture

Big 10 may not win the challenge, but that bottom of the ACC is worse than a lot of MAC schools.

Johnny Ginter's picture

Ohio State at #2 in the country is a little silly but it sure looks nice

blazers34's picture

it is early....but i dont think its that silly

Johnny Ginter's picture

thats why i said a little silly, i can see why people put em there, but are they honestly the second best team in the country right now? probably not. but could they be by the end of the season? absolutely.

Buckeye Black's picture

Diebs is off to a slow start.

TLB's picture

Turnover.........then a foul.

Please take him out.

ERIC OSU's picture

Haha tlb, relax a little more this year with threebler

TLB's picture

haha.........he should be better because there are guys that can get him the ball a little more this year.  He won't have to create as much.

But man, a SR. turning over then fouling is not good

ERIC OSU's picture

Yeah he's been hesitant to let it rip

TLB's picture

Both teams ice cold

ERIC OSU's picture

This team plays tough defense this year... were still gonna win on cold shooting nights because of d, +10 reb margin is excellent

Powers's picture

having a lot of trouble getting it in to Sullinger

ERIC OSU's picture

Seminoles packing the paint on d, settling for bad shots.. thad needs to come up with something different in the 2nd

TLB's picture

Does John Saunders not like us?

TLB's picture

Not a great half.  But we are up 11 which says something I guess.

Chris Lauderback's picture

We were a little sloppy offensively but some credit goes to FSU. They play good D.

Of course, they suck on offense and our D is compounding that. Lighty shutting down singleton so far and we're killing them on the glass.

Up 11 at half with Buford playing just 6 minutes is good stuff.

Chris Lauderback's picture

Also, am I the only one who thinks Sully won't be 1 and done? I know they are sagging that zone in on him tonight but he sometimes really struggles to get open unless it's a draw and dish situation.

ERIC OSU's picture

Good point, too early to tell tho... also nba lockout possibility may keep him here

Chris Lauderback's picture

yeah. dfntly too early to tell. just sayin, he's far from a finished product. He's more of a grinder down in the paint than anything - relying on size mismatch to clear space to get shots off. He gets tied up a lot when he tries to shoot over people but doenst quite have the bounce to avoid jumpballs being called. I tell you what though, he definitely does a great job using size to clear out rebounding position. great to see from such a young kid.

iball's picture

Yea, but its sad to say, the talent pool in college is so drained that he is probably a top 20 pick right now, regardless of how finished he is.

I agree tho, he's far from ready to contribute in the NBA, he reminds me alot of dejuan blair and elton brand, he relies on that butt to get position.

Is it Saturday Yet's picture

I dunno, he talks the talk....I don't see him as a threat on D at all not that D is important in the NBA unless you are Marcus Camby...I would like to see Sully stay and I think he does.

blazers34's picture

looking really sloppy, but still dominating the scoreboard.  on the road at that.  good sign

TLB's picture

I think we are going to have to get used to it this year.  This is how everyone will play us.

TLB's picture

Again I ask.......Does John Saunders not like us?

Listen to the difference in his call when they score and when we do.

Pam's picture

Yes, he does.  If you recall during the Rose Bowl when we were getting the trophy, he announced that the last time the Buckeyes were in LA it didn't turn out well.  Really John?  That is what you say after the Buckeyes win a game they weren't supposed to?  Check the video from "The Sports Reporters" from Sunday.  His "parting shot" was aimed at Dr. Gee and his "little sisters of the poor" comments.  Not a fan

TLB's picture

I never noticed until today.  I just hope I never hear him again.

BuckeyeChief's picture

My thoughts so far: FSU's D is pretty damn good, but their O is el horrible; We look kinda sloppy, but still winning;

I think overall the Big Ten has a pretty legit shot to win the Challenge.

To have a chance, Iowa has to win.

TLB's picture

Dude for Wake just hit one from way down town for the win over Iowa.

TLB's picture

Are we winning?

BuckeyeChief's picture

GOALTENDING WTF???

"Clutch has no boundaries"

TLB's picture

Officials trying to keep it close.

Little do they know, all that needs to happen is to let Diebler shoot.

BuckeyeChief's picture

This game is pissing me off

"Clutch has no boundaries"

TLB's picture

Yep.  Add John Saunders to the eSECpn "I hate Ohio State" list.

BuckeyeChief's picture

yep.

BBall officials get worse every year

Buckeye Black's picture

Too many lazy shots getting blocked.

TLB's picture

Sully is a little slow getting it up.  He should adjust as the season goes.

TLB's picture

Please take Diebler out.

TLB's picture

Their coach complaining to the official is laughable

Please vote for the worse set of refs:

The Game 2010 last weekend or OSU v. FSU b-ball?

Too close to call...

Just found out you win on the road by dunking the ball! (Illni game on...)

Holy sh*t! Did Diebs just play D?

TLB's picture

Where is Saunders' scream for Sully's block?

He has really pissed me off

SilverBullets's picture

Yup.  Agreed.  Singleton's very good, but you have got to point out as a tv announcer that you CANNOT reach in on Diebler there.  Automatic 2 points that put any chance of a comeback away

BuddhaBuck's picture

"He's like a shutdown corner... or a Venus fly trap"..

Wow.

Don't text while driving.

Dean's picture

He really ran with that whole Venus Fly Trap thing, too.  I think he actually thought it was a good analogy.

TLB's picture

A blind person listening to this game would be amazed to find out that tOSU won by 14.

TLB's picture

A valiant effort by Florida State.

SilverBullets's picture

58-54... Well done John

BuddhaBuck's picture

durrrrrrrr....

Beautiful game tonight. Hard fought defense all around. Great rebounding by OSU, and I love how they spread the ball. Everyone contributing. I am completely psyched about this basketball team.

FSU is good defensively. Yeah, we could have had better movement on offense, but they were switching quickly and playing good help defense. I'm impressed all around.

BuckeyeChief's picture

Glad to see scUM pulling an Iowa right now.
