Oh Les Miles. You make my dreams come true. There aren't really words:

We try to prove we're not quite geniuses in the same class with our pontifications as to how the best teams in the country should measure up against one another. As per usual, we have until Wednesday so if you've got 1800 words on why Oklahoma State is better than Missouri, we can update things accordingly.

1 Alabama Crimson Tide Took Florida to task to the tune of 31-6. Alabama was outgained (281 yards to 273), outpassed, had a modest 170 rushing yards, but won the turnover battle 4 to 0. Jim Tressel. approves. Next up: at #15 South Carolina, 3:30. --
2 Ohio State Buckeyes Faced their tough test of the season with a brilliant (wtf?) gameplan (for the most part) executed by Ron Zook, Paul Petrino, and co; ultimately prevailed 24-13. Terrelle Pryor suffered a quad injury but racked up 104 rushing yards including a career long 66 yard scramble. Next up : Indiana, 12:00. --
3 Oregon Ducks Fell into an early 21-3 deficit but battled back to outclass #10 Stanford 52-31. LeMichael James has firmly cemented himself in the Heisman race after 31 carries for 257 (!) yards and 3 TDs. Next up: Washington State, 5:00. --
4 Boise State Broncos Had the audacity to go and beat New Mexico State 59-0 on the road. Kellen Moore was 13/18 for 196 yards and 3 TDs. Even backup Joe Southwick was 4/5 for 102 yards and a TD. Clearly these guys are paper tigers. Next up: Toledo, 8:00. --
5 TCU Horned Frogs Started out with a sputter but finished strong in taking down Colorado State 27-0. Ed Wesley rushed for 78 yards and 2 TDs. Meh. Next up: Wyoming, 3:30. --
6 Oklahoma Sooners Beat Texas at the Cotton Bowl 28-20. It wasn't pretty, but after a rocket fast start, Oklahoma did just enough to avoid the loss at the hands of the rival Longhorns. DeMarco Murray had 115 yards on 25 carries for 2 TDs. Next up: Bye. UP1
7 Nebraska Cornhuskers Bye Week. Next up: Kansas State, Thursday at 7:30. UP1
8 Auburn Tigers If a Top 10 team waxes a Sun Belt one but no one watches did it happen? I suppose that's not entirely fair to the fine people of Alabama as the Tigers cruised to an easy 52-3 victory over Louisiana-Monroe. Cam Newton was 14/19 for 245 yards and 3 TDs and a pick, though he failed to finish with positive rushing yardage (-11 yards on the day) just a week removed from rushing for 234782 yards seemingly. Next up: at Kentucky, 7:30. UP2
9 Arizona Wildcats Bye Week. Next up: at Oregon State, 6:00. UP2
10 Stanford Cardinal Didn't quite have the depth to go four rounds with Oregon falling to the Ducks 31-52. Stanford started like lightning in a bottle but couldn't maintain that momentum; defense looked spurious all afternoon. All-everything QB Andrew Luck had a season high 2 INTs. Next up: USC, 8:00. DOWN 4
11 Miami (Florida) Hurricanes I'm probably done doubting these guys. Miami played their third straight potential season defining game and for the second straight emerged with a victory, this time beating Clemson 30-21. Jacory Harris had his typical 2 INTs but also threw 4 TDs in the winning effort. The Miami defense made Kyle Parker look like he should've stuck with minor league baseball this summer (3 INTs and no TDs on the afternoon). Next up: #22 Florida State, 8:00. UP2
12 Iowa Hawkeyes Ricky Stanzi battled the Commie Nazis then found time to beat Penn State 24-3. Americanzi was 16/22 for 227 1 TD and a pick in the winning effort. Adam Robinson rushed for 95 yards as well for the Iowa offense. Freshman QB Rob Bolden finished with no touchdowns and a pick and formerly lauded running back Evan Royster was made a non-factor (finished the game with just 56 yards) by the Iowa D. Next up: Bye Week. UP4
13 Florida Gators Had their own Glendale kind of afternoon getting absolutely worked by Alabama 31-6. John Brantley threw 2 picks Florida was never able to get anything going on the ground either accumulating just 79 rushing yards. Next up: #20 LSU, 6:30. DOWN 4
14 Arkansas Razorbacks Bye Week. Next up: Texas A&M at Jerry World, 3:30. --
15 South Carolina Gamecocks Bye Week. Next up: #1 Alabama, 3:30. --
16 Utah Utes Bye Week. Next up: at Iowa State, 7:00. UP2
17 Michigan Wolverines
Faced a plucky Indiana team but showed that Denard Robinson is able to get Denarded even in conference play downing the Hoosiers 42-35. Tied 35 all, Robinson led an impressive final drive culminating in the go ahead strike, a 4 yard rush with 17 seconds to play. We should find out a lot more about this Michigan squad in the weeks to come. Next up: #19 Michigan State, 3:30.
UP 3
18 Michigan State Spartans
Elevated themselves to national relevance with a solid handling of Wisconsin 34-24. Kirk Cousins was 20/29 for 269 yards and 3 TDs. The Sparty rushing attack also accrued 175 yards helping MSU to control the time of possession 36:24 to 23:36. Next up: at #18 Michigan, 3:30.

UP3
19 Wisconsin Badgers
Probably wished they joined the three teams above Michigan with a bye. Fell at the hands of a Mark Dantonio-less Michigan State side 24-34. James White and John Clay combined for 178 yards and 2 TDs. Seems like every year Wisconsin has a mediocre game managing QB, a bruising rushing attack and rock steady line, and like clockwork lose a game in October they shouldn't. Next up: Minnesota, 12:00.
DOWN7
20 LSU Tigers Lost then beat Tennessee 16-14. There are no words. Except maybe fortuitous. Or lucky. Or maybe "paper tiger." We should know significantly more about LSU once they, you know, face teams that aren't 1-4 Tennessee. Should be interesting to see what sort of shenanigans are afoot when Les Miles heads into the swamp to face a Steve Addazio run offense. Next up: at #13 Florida, 6:30. UP2
21 Nevada Wolf Pack The 'Pack went into Vegas and worked ins-tate rival UNLV 44-26. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick was his usual brilliant self 13/17 for 124 yards, a TD and a pick, but in usual pistol whipping fashion, added 13 carries for 97 yards and a TD. Running back Vai Taua was also an absolute beast with 19 carries for 188 yards and 3 TDs. Next up: San Jose State, 10:35. UP3
22 Florida State Seminoles Laid the wood on the 'Hoos beating UVa 34-14. Jermaine Thomas rushed for 112 yards and TDs in the first half alone and UVa never looked in the contest in the second half. The Noles also rattled Cavs QB Marc Verica sacking him repeatedly in the early goings. Next up: #11 Miami, 8:00. --
23 Air Force Falcons The Falcons did just enough to outlast the Pleebs and end a seven-game losing streak to Navy, 14-6. USAFA running back Jared Tew carried the ball 17 times for 111 yards. Air Force's 292 rushing yards mean they stand here at week 6 as the nation's most prolific rushing offense. Next up: Colorado State, 2:00. --
24 Southern Cal Trojans I know, I know. I'd love nothing more than to leave these guys unranked, but they lost on a field goal as time expired (32-31 to UDub) and the rest of the "just outside" Top 25 teams don't exactly carry the sort of talent the Trojans do. Defense continues to be a crippling weakness as the lack of depth makes it impossible for SC to put together effective series time and time again. They won't have the luxury of an confidence rebuilder with a road trip to Stanford coming shortly. Next up: at #16 Stanford, 8:00. DOWN 7
25 Missouri Tigers Bye Week. Next up: Colorado, 7:00. --
Dropouts: Texas Longhorns, Clemson Tigers, N.C. State Wolfpack
