Somethin' That Means Somethin'The bottom line is Ohio State did what they had to do to beat Penn State 75-67 tonight in the Bryce Jordan Center.
Everybody's POY Evan Turner led the charge with 25 points, 7 boards and 7 assists coupled with 3 steals and 2 swats as OSU kept pace with Purdue in pursuit of a conference tizzy. With the Buckeyes up 59-57 at the 5:15 mark, ET went balls to the wall scoring eight straight OSU points to take a commanding 67-59 lead with 3:53 to play. Penn State would cut the lead to six a few times but it was fools gold as OSU marched to an 8 point victory.
I truthfully thought OSU would come out foaming at the mouth but it wasn't to be as the Buckeyes led only 30-26 at half thanks to 1/7 shooting from Turner complemented by 2/6 from Diebs. As usual, it was Wil Buford who stepped up in ET's scoring absence putting up 10 1st half points (5/8 FG).
Penn State gave the Buckeyes a mini-scare but I just never had the notion that a loss was imminent. Again, the better team won, in a fashion that suggests they weren't as prepared as I'd hoped but still showed enough to make me feel comfy with the last two games against Michigan and Illy.
Turner was sensational scoring 20 in the 2nd half as Diebs added 10 (16 pts total) on a sketchy 2/10 from distance. David Lighty was electric totaling 18 points (6/9 FG) including 13 in the final 20 minutes. Watching the game with a chief Diebs apologist (might even be his Uncle), I was forced to notice JD playing legit helpside D and rotating without the ball on O.
Buford fouled out with 12 points and six rips before greeting the crowd with an apparent junk-grab while Dallas impressed grabbing 10 boards and four points.
How bout Lighty tonight? Not only did he register 18 points, but they felt timely and in sync, meaning no triple tries early in the shot clock and/or void of offensive rhythm.
Overall, the Bucks hit 48% from the floor committing only eight turnovers while holding PSU to 44%. That's all I got tonight. Don't hate. It was a long day.
Before I forget...How dope is the album Labcabincalifornia from The Pharcyde? It guided me home tonight and for that, it's a crank of epic proportions. That is all.

don't drink and drive, kids
According to some loser PSU fan Turner on his way off the court said to the student section "ya'll are a bunch of "F***ing B**ches"
http://the22000.wordpress.com/...
the truth hurts.
I've noticed that turner and co. are a little mouthy, myself, but I kinda like the cockiness.
haha, i know none of us blame turner for saying this... even tho i would rather them do no talking and just get the hel out of the arena next time. remember this is the same trash-bag fan base that chucks beer cans at visiting fans and drops bagged-urine on opposing teams. Go Bucks!
yeah if it were 90% of the other colleges we play I'd say the villain was off base, but PSU students are hands down the worst student fanbase in the conference
Labcabincalifornia is a masterpiece. Runnin is definitely the best track. Gotta love J Dilla production.
Also, more on topic, great win tonight. ET is beginning to look like a lock for POY.
i don't like the posturing — just play ball. turner and buford have too much talent to be responding to fans. showing some moxy on the court is fine, but going after fans is a distraction. i like this team's chemistry. they could have a final four run in them.
With only 1,000 people in the building (officially listed as 8,721...really?), I am sure everything the students were saying could be heard by the players. At some point they must have gotten tired of it. The arrogance of Penn St fan is comical at times.
How about this line from NittanyWhiteOut:
"It wasn’t the worst of the season, and during that comeback, the BJC was rocking. "
How much rockin can a thousand people do?
Kind of like the assholish WVU fans, only without the team...
"How much rockin can a thousand people do?"
Enough for their team to come up short... again.
I agree. Hate to see this from any player and especially disappointing to know it was Turner and Buford. I know they are young but I hope Thad gets word and gets this type of thing corrected.
next thing you know your going to put up Souls of Mischief or Del or something....
Some Deltron 3030? Third Eye Vision? Classics.
Nice, then maybe some handsome boy modeling school for kicks
I've noticed Turner can be a bit cocky him self. Not only that but throws in an elbow here or there whenever he can get a chance. Just something I've noticed.
PSU fans are defenseless without cans of beer to throw.
I just saw comments that Buford did something after his last foul that wasn't very appropriate directed towards those awful fans.....I must have missed this.
The second half slide was entirely my fault. Got back home late from work (don't get me started on 6:30 PM tip-off's), turned the TV on and we're up by 12. The next 30 seconds, PSU sinks 3 trey's. Forgoing dinner, I immediately go to the fridge and get a beer.
Props on the album of choice, too.
What is the "I see you Evan Turner" comment by the color analyst even mean? Is he trying out a new catch phrase or am I simply behind the curve on this one? It sounds very dumb.
Also, can Diebler transfer to Ashland already? When you are on the floor for nothing else but to knock down open 3's and proceed to go 2-10, you are of no value. PSU's run in the second half was in large part to back to back missed threes by Diebler...sorry, wide open threes!!
Go over to OHD; Vico has a short "highlight" clip. Frankly, after Buford took his seat, he merely readjusted his uniform. heh.
nah, he does go into a slump and is inconsistent....but he is a good shooter. he did hit a clutch 3 against msu before the psu game. now the shot selection for the team could be better overall, but this team gels nicely. also, lauderdale/madsen have been playing excellent...gotta tip my hat to their effort.
