Great to see James Louis on that list.

  2. Duran says:

WR Tyrone Williams, East Cleveland Shaw

I think this kid is going to be unstoppable in the future.

    Can anyone say “REDZONE”

    • Sean N says:

I think I saw this exact post two years ago, except “Tyrone Williams” was replaced with “Jake Stoneburner”. Hopefully one day one of them will catch a TD pass.

  3. Duran says:

Seantrel Henderson is scheduled to reveal his college decision between 4 and 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release that just arrived at Star Tribune World Headquarters.

The subject line on the email said: “Signing Day on CBS College Features Top Recruits and Top Coaches.” That’s pretty much par for the course in the hyper-frenetic world of college recruiting.

    • tampa buckeye says:

      scarlet and gray!

      • JoseOle says:

S.I. is saying USC, with Minnesota 2nd and the Bucks 3rd. It sucks that it looks like James, Henderson, and Moses are all going elsewhere. Maybe something will break for the Bucks late.

        • PALM BEACH BUCKEYE says:

F SI…… remember that they Predicted Pryor to Michigan with OSU a far behind 4th behind Oregon and WVu…. srew them.

  4. Buckeye in athens says:

Bummer to miss out on matt James.. I guess we will be banking on henderson and Moses

    • BuckeyeSki says:

I’m not one to bag on 18 year old kids, but Matt James choosing ND is a huge mistake. That program is/has been/ and will be in the shitter for a while.

Brian Kelly openly stated that he has no interest in playing Defense, his sole goal is to score as quick as possible. News flash coach, no more Big Least teams on the schedule. ND plays a schedule chock full of defensive teams….we saw how good your teams are when you play a defense with a pulse.

      • Tom says:

Agreed. ND is a great academic institution, but it still amazes me that those ND “glory days” still convince kids to play for such a mediocre football program.

        • Anonymous says:

Great academic institution? Just another way that ND has been living off its glory days. My sister works with a bunch of ND grads in Chicago, and they’re not exactly the cream of the crop. There are at least 6 or 7 schools in the Big Ten that are superior to ND academically, including Ohio State.

          • southbaybuckeye says:

You mean to tell me that Chris Zorch got his law degree because of tutoring and a job at a law firm in chicago because he used to play at ND??????!!

            STOP THE PRESSES!

          • Tom says:

I’m a Buckeye alum living in Knoxville. Great academic institution is obviously a relative term.

          • Anonymous says:

Exactly. The Mendoza College of Business produces the geniuses that thought it made great financial sense to give Chuck a huge extension at the beginning of his contract.

          • Jon says:

Actually ND is still a top 20 college according to the US News and World Report (http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/national-universities-rankings)

Maybe some kids like to go to college for reasons other than football? Besides, ND has very nice facilities and whether the team is mediocre or not, they’re still on TV every week and you get plenty of exposure.

(Sorry, I’m an ND student from Toledo – born and raised a Buckeye fan. Gotta defend my school ;) )

          • iball says:

Matt James looked really slow and unathletic, he would have struggled for PT at OSU.

          • Anonymous says:

meh, i used to work with a bunch of ivy league brats. getting into that type of school just meant you (or your parents) were motivated in high school or you had an “in” (AA, legacy, high school principal mom who knows how to game the system). most people fall into the latter category (with an absurdly heavy emphasis on legacy). the “oh my god, you are a genius” cohort is only the top 5% of the schools, which is only marginally better than any random undergrad institution.

i am sure the same is true of notre dame.

          • BuckeyeSki says:

            Eff yo school DARKNESS!

        • Tom Collins says:

I’m not terribly surprised. Catholic school in Cincinnasti where they have heard how Brian Kelly = coaching legend for the last few years.

      • Bucksfan says:

Remember Rob Schoenoff? He was a big QB out of St. X that ended up transferring out of Ohio State. So maybe it’s not a big deal. Secondly, it’s rare for St. X athletes to go to Ohio State, or any other major college sports programs. Most of their athletes use the sport that they play to get into Ivy League schools, and if they get an offer to play at Notre Dame, they don’t turn it down.

        • Bucksfan says:

In other words, St. X athletes are more often than not thinking about what degree will be most competitive after college. And I can assure you as a graduate of Ohio State, human resources and graduate admission committees gush when they see Yale, Harvard, Notre Dame, or Stanford on someone’s resume. Ohio State? Not really. That’s a fact of life.

          • a bag of doritos says:

notre dame is not in the same league as HYS. there is a gap between ohio state and notre dame, but that gap is dwarfed by the chasm between notre dame and HYS.

          • Brian says:

Honestly, none of these kids come to Ohio State for their academics. Do you honestly think that Seantrel Henderson is concerned with his undergrad degree and the quaility school it comes from. These guys all mention academics. I believe I even read Ray Samll saying he liked OSU’s academics when he came in as a recruit.

          • Bucksfan says:

            Sorry, bag, you’re wrong.

  5. Tom says:

The Richmond Times is reporting that Morgan Moses is expected to sign with Virginia at noon today.

  6. Tom says:

ESPN and the Twin Cities Pioneer Press are reporting that Seantrel Henderson is expected to sign with USC this afternoon. Ugh…

  7. southbaybuckeye says:

Matt James faxed it in…… who still uses a fax machine?!?!

    • david says:

uh… every player who’s sending a letter of intent to any college that offered him a scholarship, lol.

i know what you’re saying, fax is outdated technology. why can’t recruits scan it and send it as a pdf in an email, right? but i guess that’s just the way things are done.

      • DUDEMAN says:

Scanning and then sending it in PDF in an e-mail is much more time consuming than faxing. You’re welcome fellas. I’m going end this day of posting on a high note. I’ll be back for more useful input tomorrow.

  8. Brett says:

Kinda disappointing news stating that Henderson is now a USC lean. He wants to play for the scum of the earth apparently (Lane Kiffin). I swear that Lane Kiffin must have the best interviewer in the history of mankind or resting completely on the laurels of daddy. I’m thinking 100% the latter.

    • bup bup bup says:

why does lane kiffin insist on wearing shirts that are like four sizes too big on him? for real, that dude is a skinny babyfaced lookin wiener, why would he wear clothing that compounds that? weirds me out.

    • Anonymous says:

Dude, Lane Kiffin brings his wife to the recruiting interviews.
That and the big wad o cash would make anyone think about it.

      • R. Black says:

It isn’t Lane Kiffin. It is Ed Orgeron that gets all the recruits somehow.

        • bup bup bup says:

orgeron getting the recruits is even weirder because the man is literally an ogre. it’s like if a bowling ball had sex with a trashcan and their son smoked 5 packs a day until he was 50

      • Brett says:

I was actually referring to job interviews. How he got the USC or even Tennessee job astounds me, not to mention the job in Oakland.

    • poop says:

Probably has as much to do with the assistant coaches as Lane. You couldn’t convince me to play there for any amount of money though, no matter how much USC offered to pay me. Kiffin is a joke and I wish terrible things upon him.

      /kind of serious

      • Jason says:

Lane also has some serious Minnesota connections. He was born there, pops coached forever up there, etc.

The man can recruit. He lit it up last year for Tennessee in his first year and he’s set to pull a mammoth class to USC all the while facing possible sanctions from the NCAA. It’s unreal.

      • jbuckeye001 says:

Kiffin just introduces the recruits to the USC Song Girls… Done deal

        • poop says:

Overrated. I think Oregon has the most “talented” cheerleader squad in the country. Why does it matter, every college with a major football program has plenty of attractive women. You’re not going to bang all of them.

    • Ms. Scarlet Gray says:

This might be a good thing in disguise…I would be concerned about his father…

  9. Brett says:

Shit Moses chooses Virginia… sounding like we will only have Norwell at OL

    • BuddhaBuck says:

Fortune Cookie say: “Fire Bollman. Hire Orlando Pace.”.

    • Fuzzy says:

I don’t think we get Henderson either. Massive recruiting failure if we only get 1 OL. Only two would be failure unless one is Henderson. Hey, who is that guy wadc45 at BuckeyePlanet? He sure gets pissy when things aren’t going his way.

  10. BuddhaBuck says:

Confucius is most pleased that there weren’t any early morning shockers.

  11. Buckeye20 says:

Here’s my deal (like anyone gives a shite) We have known all along that Henderson was iffy. If he comes here, great, if not…good luck at SC. I think a kid should be able to go anywhere he wants. Now…knowing what we know about Kiffin and SC lately, it calls into question somebody’s judgment if you pick that option over many others.

Question: How many NFL first round offensive linemen has Ohio State produced that have been Tressel recruits?
    Answer: 1 Nick Mangold

That is somewhat shocking…that only one Buckeye lineman has gone in the first round, which then points the finger at Bollman.

We haven’t been very good here recently.

Still love JT though. Another Top 5 season…Go Bucks.

    • southbaybuckeye says:

      I am agree with Confucius….. Orlando Pace… O-Line Coach

    • Kyle says:

Too bad OSU’s win in the Rose Bowl and the manner in which the team finished this year means more Bollman for the forseeable future. The dude sucks. Can anybody explain to me how Iowa and Wisconsin have dominant offensive lines on what seems like a yearly basis while the offensive line at OSU has been the achilles heel for the last several years?

      • southbaybuckeye says:

Question of the decade right there….

      • bup bup bup says:

injuries, shuffling players around way too much, bollman simply being a below average coach.

i will say this about him though, his players love him and it’s not like he hasn’t pulled in the recruits.

        • poop says:

Shuffling players is my main concern. I feel sorry for Jim Cordle; he didn’t play the same position for more than a year. I guarantee that hurt his development. I do think the line was better this year but we need the tackles to step up and keep Pryor alive next season. Henderson going elsewhere is going to hurt us if Mike Adams can’t get it together.

          • Brian says:

Is it a matter of Adams getting it together or staying healthy? I mean that’s a big thing. Shugarts really started playing well and Brewster has done a great job. I think if Adams can stay healthy this year there is no reason to think he won’t take off. I think this line is going to be very good next season.

        • Tyler says:

Players loving you with crap results is not an accomplishment. That just means we have premadona offensive lineman that love a coach who doesn’t make them work hard.

    • BuddhaBuck says:

Question: How many stars was Nick Mangold rated coming out of HS?

Answer: 1. Technically zero, since 1-stars do not exist.

    • Sean S. says:

From what I’ve heard, the players like Bollman, though. I don’t think we can necessarily blame him for O-line recruits going elsewhere.

However, I’ve heard they like him because he doesn’t work them all that hard. So we can blame him for their mediocre performance. And I do.

On the other other hand, I think the line showed signs of life last season. It’s a little late for Bollman to start changing my opinion of him, but maybe some other change (not sure what it would be) is starting to pay dividends.

      • Mike says:

I think there’s a reasonable argument that some of our problems at OL are recruiting numbers. We seem to try to do the best we can with as few O-linemen as possible.

We have more linebackers on this team than we do O-line, when usually only two of them are on the field as opposed to 5 o-linemen. A few busts (like Connor Smith) or unfortunate injuries (like Mike Adams) and we’re scrambling to fill spots in a way that is anything close to cohesive. Line play is as much about coordination as it is physical ability.

That said, if we get lucky and don’t have any major injuries, next year’s line could be really good.

  12. Brian says:

Everyone freaking out about recruiting, check this out. I know people have pointed out Heyward and Rolle’s class as a great example, but there are still some who insist the numbers don’t like that if you get a bunch of 5 stars you are going to win, and if you don’t your coach must suck or not be a closer etc.

    http://blog.al.com/solomon/2010/02/many_top-ranked_signing_classe.html

Solomon went back to look at the recruiting classes from 2005-09, and five of this year’s AP Top 10 were not in the Top 20 of recruiting rankings in that time. UC was never ranked in the Top 45 classes in any of those years — and neither were TCU or Boise State.Only 39 percent of the All-Americans were ranked in the Top 10 of their positions by Rivals.

    • gbm says:

Weird then how all the big programs get all the big recruits and continue to remain the big boys

      • Brian says:

It’s just not always the 5 star guys that matter is the point. Ohio State attracts guys like Hawk Troy Smith, Dane Sanzenbacher, Cam Heyward etc. When only 39 percent of All Americans were top 10 in their position ranking during this time period it’s pretty telling. It’s not to say the the biggest schools don’t get the best players still. It’s to say that a guy like Rod Smith could end up being as good or better than Beanie and it has nothing to do with whether or not he’s a 2 star player or a 5 star coming in.

        • gbm says:

True,tOSU does a better job at developing players than anyone else that I have noticed. One good or maybe even a few yrs like Boise St. does not make you a powerhouse. Throw them in the Big Ten and they are just another Michigan State. Don’t expect them to do that undefeated every yr in the Big11. Or other words.. mediocracy..leading to less stats for these players and the good rep they have. They play at a lower lvl of competition as seen in the Sugar Bowl this yr.

          • Brian says:

I’m not calling Boise State a powerhouse, but I do feel if they play in the Big 10 they are a top 4 team right there with Penn State or Wisconsin this year. I think it’s pretty telling when you look at the list of All Americans and what kind of recruit they were thought. I mean Mc Doy and Gerhart were 3 star guys. Suh, was rated as a good player but no one would’ve expected the outcome based on recruiting facts. That’s all I’m saying. Big schools attract big players, but the also attract guys like McCoy, who end up being great.

  13. Duran says:

    Question?

    We have 20 schollies?
We have 17 or 18 commits?

Possible henderson would still live 1 or 2.
Is there someone else out there we are holding out on other than LA.

  14. R. Black says:

Heard Kiffin has a press conference on CBS immediately after the Henderson announcement, not a good sign.

  15. DS says:

espn says Seantrel will commit to USC later today.. is this valid?

  16. Buckeye20 says:

    Who gives a F$#k??

    Another MNC run in 2010.

    Go Bucks.

  17. Duran says:

Next year will be a top 5 recruiting year!

  18. Matt says:

Can anyone explain to me why UVA, which is an objectively better academic institution than OSU, somehow has lower admission standards for Morgan Moses than we do? In other words–why is Moses sticking with his UVA commitment rather than waiting to learn whether he’d be eligible for the Bucks? I don’t understand that.

    • Jason says:

Yeah, that’s puzzling on many levels.

    • Alex says:

If he’s not eligible he can’t go…..if he qualifies he’s a go, so I don’t understand why JT wanted to wait…..also remember UVA has a new coach who’s trying to rebuild that program and Moses is a great start

  19. GalenaBuck says:

We had a great season and are staring at a possible NC run… However, I have to ask if we don’t get Seantrel Henderson, how in the heck does tOSU only get one offensive linemen in a recruiting class? This happened several years ago with only getting Evan Blakenship and the effects on the line were pronounced. This is the first year in a while that the O-line is a possible strength of the team. Tressel is a great coach and has brought in quality players on and off the field, but there is no way to characterize this as a monumental recruiting failure (again, assuming SH signs with U$C).There are good skill players in this class but only one very good OL (Norwell) and one DT (Hankins). The game is won and lost in the trenches which does not bode well for the future…

    • JoseOle says:

Ummmmm, 2 years ago Tressel got Brewster, Shugarts, and Adams, last year he got Hall and Mehort, and the line still has 2 Juniors coming back (Browning, Boren). Kids don’t want to go where there is huge depth, which is why tOSU is losing all 3 of the left tackle prospects.

      • Brian says:

No No No, haven’t you been paying attention. Tressel can’t close. Bollman sucks, and the line will never be good they’ll all get hurt, fat, or swine flu. The ones that don’t will just underpreform and the team will suck. It’s the end of the world and Ohio State football because we didn’t get slow James or Snoop Jr, or Moses who apparently can’t even write his own name.

        • poop says:

Well said Homer. No one had any right to complain the last few years. None at all!

          • Brian says:

Honestly, there hasn’t been much to complain about. Ok, some big game losses, but it’s not like they are going 7-5 every year and playing for the outback bolw championship every year. You’d think this team never finishes ranked, or every has success. It’s not being a homer it’s just saying there are a lot of people on here who will never give this team or coahces credit for anything.

        • Sam says:

Yes, Matt James is slow, because he didn’t come to Ohio State. Makes perfect sense. People weren’t dying for James to add depth just seven hours ago.

          Jesus, I hate recruiting.

  20. ginn421 says:

You’re missing Norwell in the table at the top…

  21. nsbbuck says:

Has Chaz Green signed anywere yet? Checked usc and ut and could not see anything.

  22. GalenaBuck says:

    Typo in first draft…

We had a great season and are staring at a possible NC run… However, I have to ask if we don’t get Seantrel Henderson, how in the heck does tOSU only get one offensive linemen in a recruiting class? This happened several years ago with only getting Evan Blakenship and the effects on the line were pronounced. This is the first year in a while that the O-line is a possible strength of the team. The game is won and lost in the trenches which does not bode well for the future… Go Bucks.

    • Kyle says:

It doesn’t bode well. Depth at the offensive line position is crucial to success, particularly in a physical leage like the B10. Lineman get beat up throughout the year and without depth that is exacerbated by the end of the season.

  23. Across the Field says:

I hope U$C gets banned from bowl games and blacked out from TV for 2-3 years. Not much would make me happier. Then our dear friend Seantrel would learn his lesson. Instead of becoming a man he’ll learn how to cut corners, cheat, and be stuck up for the rest of his life. Reports had Henderson’s father being very involved in the recruiting process to look out for his son, leaning towards ND for the academics. That was obviously a sham, as no good father I know would ever let their kid be coached and mentored by the cockroach Lane Kiffin.

    • Brian says:

I’m not going to hate the guy for going to another NFL factory.

    • OrlandoBuckey says:

You may want to wait until he actually announces before you start your attack.

    • Sean S. says:

Hey, Clarett, Schlichter, and plenty of others got all the experience they needed at cutting corners and cheating at OSU. There’s good and bad at every school, and if Henderson feels like he’ll be more successful at USC, I’m not gonna rake him over the coals for it.

That said, it sure would be nice to have him step up and shore up that other tackle spot from day one. Not saying Norwell or one of the other guys won’t do a great job, but I like to have options.

  24. Buckeyefather says:

I bleed scarlet and gray but if I had a blue chip OT prospect son, I would advise him not to go to Ohio State. Ohio State enjoyed decades of producing NFL tackles but that stopped with Tressel and Bollman. The line typically under achieves and so does the development of all the blue chip tackle prospects. If the goal is to develop as an offensive lineman, OSU is not the best choice and that won’t change anytime soon considering JT’s loyalty to his assistant coaching friends.

    • Kyle says:

After two seasons and no bowl appearances they need the entire Under Armour All American team.

  25. Rob says:

If Seantrel were going to be a Buckeye we’d be seeing all sorts of tells by now, no?

    • Sean S. says:

Not necessarily. He might be the only one who knows, or him and his immediate family. All of these rumors could be circulating from someone who misinterpreted something, or someone who talked to him before he changed his mind, or someone he said something to just to screw with them.

It’s at least as likely that he’s actually going to USC, but all hope is not lost.

      • Rob says:

Here’s the tell: “Adam Rittenberg: Ohio State just sent out its release. Buckeyes signed 18 players. No Seantrel Henderson listed.”

        • Baba Booey says:

doesn’t matter, they don’t have to have signed by the end of the day.. they can sign next week if they wish

  26. PHX buck says:

How in the heck do we only get 1 offensive lineman in this class. And also we lose out on 7 of the top 10 Ohio prospects according to Scout…..what is going on in our recruiting
    http://recruiting.scout.com/3/2010_Ohio.html

    • StLBuckeye says:

The fact that we only lost 1 junior to the draft doesn’t make us the most attractive option for early playing time.

    • Jason says:

It can be a little frustrating for sure, but Ohio was down this year in terms of talent. Of the top ten, I think we only offered five.

    • RBuck says:

The last time I counted, we got about 17 offensive linemen already on the roster for next year.

      • PHX buck says:

if that is the right # then ya we do have the quantity but I don’t know about quality….all I am saying I do not remember the last time OSU only had 1 O-lineman in a recruiting class, and if so let me know I would be curious to find out the last time it happened

        • Sean S. says:

2007. Evan Blankenship was the lone OL.

That actually makes me feel better. We all though the sky was falling then, too, and things have worked out okay since then.

          • PHX buck says:

Thanks for the info!…I guess I might feel a little better now also….but would still like to pick up henderson

          • Brian says:

How many offensive linemen did the actually offer? The only ones I saw that were heavily recruited for the last few months were James and Henderson with Moses late. Of Course Norwell too who had been locked up for a while. So, it could be they just wanted to address other needs. Obviously you always want depth and to bring in as many 5 star stud lineman who are the Next Pace. But the line is going to be very strong next year. THe in state talent is going to be strong next year, and the recruiting class is going to be a top 5 next year. I think it’s ok that we whiffed on a couple lineman this year if those needs are adressed next year.

        • RBuck says:

I didn’t remember either. The numbers are there and I figured if they didn’t have potential, they wouldn’t be at tOSU.

  27. Rob says:

Adam Rittenberg: Ohio State just sent out its release. Buckeyes signed 18 players. No Seantrel Henderson listed.

    • Jason says:

I’m not saying Henderson is coming to Columbus, but I wouldn’t read too far into the release. The university sent out a similar one before Pryor joined the ‘08 class. They needed to put something out ahead of Tressel’s 4pm presser.

    • Baba Booey says:

again it doesn’t matter, letters don’t have to be signed and sent in by the end of the day.. they are just releasing a statement as to who signed today.. players can sign in 2 weeks if they felt like it and an offer was still on the table..

  28. Colton says:

According to Rittenberg, we just sent out a release w/ all 18 recruits. No Henderson.

    • PALM BEACH BUCKEYE says:

According to a un-named source (but trust me).. Santrel Henderson is skipping college all-together and is going to be the Starting Left Tackle for the Seattle Seahawks next year since he was so impressed with Pete Carroll the last time they met. The NCAA has given its blessing –said one NCAA official who wished to remain anonymous “If Reggie Bush can take all that money and go to New Orleans, then Santrel can skip the payoff and go right to Seattle”.

      • Brian says:

I heard he was not going to do football at all anymore but instead wants to play basketball at Duke because of their Academics and great program. Apparently Durham is quite the scen for some fresh rap that his dad can get in on too.

        • Across the Field says:

I live 10 miles from Durham and trust me, I wouldn’t be suprised if its fresh on the rap scene. In my four years in Cbus, I never felt as unsafe as I do rolling down the streets of Durham. Its weird too because Duke is very nice. Just don’t venture off campus.

  29. buckeye says:

Now that Minnesota paper (you know, the same one that said USC leads for Henderson, and the one that everyone is basing their “Henderson to USC” claims on) is saying that Miami now leads. Once again, no sources are cited.

Everyone should just calm down until he announces.

  30. Not to direct traffic away, but my blog has a Live Blog going right now for the Henderson stuff. If anyone would like to join, they are welcome. We are also just talking about recruiting until he is about to announce.

  31. will says:

F— him and forget him, if he wants to be apart of a championship then come on if not bye because TP will lead us there i believe

  32. bup bup bup says:

people talking up da U now, i’d be cool with that. anybody but USC and kiffin.

minnesota for the bonus comedy option

  33. Across the Field says:

my clock reads 5:30… whats the scoop?

    • BuckeyeSki says:

      PLEASE!!!

      • Across the Field says:

I’m a little less sick to my stomach with this if its Miami… That means next year we can watch Cam Heyward blow by him to smear jacory harris into the turf at the shoe (assuming he plays).

  34. buckeye says:

Why is this being televised on a channel that no one has?

  35. buckeye says:

    USC

  36. chad says:

    usc…

  37. DS says:

USC, oh how I hate you

  38. Michael says:

Really hope USC goes on probation now!!!

  39. buckeye says:

The staff swings and misses on Moses, James, Henderson, Floyd, Joyner, Shaw, Hicks, and Anderson. We can’t keep going 0-8 on national, 5 star recruits if we want to compete for the NC.

  40. PHX buck says:

Man what a disappointing year on the recruiting trail, how do we not get atleast a little bit of Rose Bowl bump, I don’t get it!!!!!

  41. Codeezy says:

Good! We didn’t want you anyways! *sniff, sniff*

Good luck in the future kid, Go Bucks!

  42. PAUL says:

Remember the name Aundrey Walker. Next year he’ll commit to OSU and no one will remember the name Seantrell Henderson in 3 years.

I laugh how everyone gets worked up about recruiting. How do anyone of us truly know who is gonna pan out and who is gonna flop?
