Fresh on the heels of swiping Seantrel Henderson from the Buckeyes, Lane Kiffin has received a commitment from a 13 year-old quarterback. I know this happens in basketball, but that's part of what makes college basketball recruiting so shady. Leave it to Lane to get it going on the gridiron side.
The recruit, David Sills, still five years away from signing day, has a personal coach and a slickly produced highlight video (music notwithstanding):
Already six feet tall and breaking down NFL footage, Sills might turn out to be the next great thing. Or he might not. This quote from his mentor, Steve Clarkson, is not exactly a ringing endorsement of his ability to draw comparisons:
"You might call me crazy, but you've known me a long time, right? And when I said if there was going to be a LeBron James of football it'd be Jimmy Clausen that turned out to be a pretty good prediction."

I saw this on ESPN this morning.... this is F'in ridiculous... it is:
1. Unfair to the kid as he should not be exposed to the sleazes of the world at age 13.
2. It screws a kid up as he now thinks he is the 2nd coming of Joe Montana.
3. The kids parents are complete Jackasses to even allow this to remotely happen.
4. It shows how much of a sleazy weasel Lane Kiffin is.
Kiffin is assuming USC will have a scholarship to offer.

The pic of the four USC coaches in his living room almost made me feel physically ill. The specter of a bunch of grown men practically pleading a boy to come and play for them is just sickening, really. Of course, the pic where Lane is on his cell in the kid's living room is pretty telling.

Good gosh, makes me think he might be better off going to Florida to walk in the footsteps of the Teabow. I guess, the Urban Meyer heath issue prevented Florida from landing a top recruit like this.
I can say with about 97% certainty that he will not go to Red Lion for HS. Not that DE is a football powerhouse but that will ensure incredibly inferior opposing talent. I'm sure he'll land an 'academic' scholarship to Salesianum, the catholic powerhouse coming off a state title.
