NSD is officially a bigger circus act than Barnum&Baileys
Am I the only one still basking in the glow of the Rose Bowl win, looking forward to another title run and a massive top-10 haul next year? Why are you people miserable?
Sure there are some pomising kids signed but the lack up depth on the OL in two years is a real concern and word is it is not going to be a strong year in Ohio for OL next year. Just wish they would have offered kids like Donnell or Schoefer that were Big Ten caliber o linemen.
what i don't understand is....how are people continually taken in by lane kiffin? the dude is the weaseliest weasel in college football (and probably a 1/10th of 1 percenter nationwide, irrespective of college football). hands down. end of discussion. i understand kids may not dig tressel's style and so forth, but LANE KIFFIN! really? reallllly? you look across the landscape of college football, see saban, meyer, tressel, stoops, kelly, butch davis, joepa, mack brown, beamer, ferentz, etc etc and you choose kiffin?
I wonder how Seantrel will feel when some NCAA sanctions come down and he has to watch Ohio State in a bowl game while USC will be barred. Oh, and when they take scholarships away how will like being part of a "rebuilding team" for three years?
I'm more pissed about Henderson shunning Tressel and crew for those scumbags out west. I thought his dad was monitoring closely and determined that most coaches were blowing smoke up Seantral's ass and lying to him. Guess what amigos, Kiffin is the second biggest liar in the business. There is no way you're unaware of that after last month. Good luck Seantral.
If Henderson had changed the letters around the "S" in his chosen school's name, we'd be talking about what a great-character guy he is.
I understand being frustrated with losing the kid to a schlemiel like Lane Kiffin, but there is no reason for the hate directed towards him or his family.
I'm guessing Henderson has done his research, and seen what Jim Bollman has done to previous "Next Orlando Paces". I just can't blame the kid when USC is churning out first-round draft picks up front annually. I would never have made the decision myself, but you have to look at this from a perspective of what makes sense for him.
Right now, USC isn't the most stable program, but it has the most proven pedigree of any program right now in creating pro-ready NFL guys. Henderson is almost assuredly a 3-years-and-gone guy, and USC is the ideal place to play left tackle if you want to play in the league. It makes sense for him and his situation, so I can't criticize.
its just "in the moment overreactions".. we're all heated about it, but come opening day against marshall, it will all be forgotten.. i think people are just frustrated that seantrels dad was preaching that they wanted "stability" and so forth, and to pick the prick known as lane kiffen.... gives the joker absolutely zero credibility/ sorry but your not going to see a lot of people on here giving the hendersons the benefit of the doubt
So we got a grand total of one new commitment after January 1? I'm not a recruiting alarmist--it's easily the most overrated day of the college sports calendar--but considering that the later in the season it gets, the more you can narrow your focus, this is a truly terrible showing.
It might be time for Tressel to examine whether all his assistants are pulling their weight in the recruiting department.
Not quite. The 2003 and 2004 classes were junk. One of them - 2003, I think, with guys like Irrizary and Guilford - was half guys who didn't even end up making the team. Jenkins, Boone and Co were in the '05 class, which was fairly well-regarded.
I want the ones who want to be in Columbus. I'm just disappointed that an 18-year-old would rather be in LA than ...er, nevermind. The good news: we will never face him because U$C is headed for 1. probation and 2. mediocrity under Kiffin.
How the F are people miserable? LIC and his minions demolished a revered Oregon team and is primed to bust out next season, especially since he's regained the Vest's trust. The defense is mature where it matters and if they can cover kicks, they'll be in the MNC conversation in early December.
The two deep on this team is wicked stacked. They didn't need a top 5 class this year. They needed system guys to add depth and develop.
Remember Mike D'Andrea. Remember AJ Hawk. One was purportedly "freakish" and one was "filler." The pundits are guessing harder than us.
As long as we pull in a good class next year we'll be ok. I'm able to appreciate the guys we have in this class but we need some of those big timers to come here.
I understand and agree. It's just hard to accept what Bollman has done to the reputation of Ohio State's development of players. I still can't see why anyone would choose to go play for Kiffin though. I'm going to go kick a can down the street with my head down.
Yes, Kiffin sucks, and is a pretty good representative of all that is wrong with college football today. That being said, the nepotism that keeps someone like Bollman in place is a good indicator of all that was wrong with college football yesterday. I love Jim Tressel, but I have a feeling he will go to the grave with Bollman at his side, figuratively and potentially literally.
I'm sure "Coach Bolls" is a cool cat, but he cannot develop talent. This many years in, he has shown he can create a truly elite center or two and not much else. Does anyone know if John Peterson was still coaching the tackles at the end of the year last year?
If you're a top tier high school offensive lineman with dreams of an NFL career, would the relative absence of Ohio State O-linemen in the first half of the draft concern you?
My uneducated opinion is that Jim Bollman doesn't appear to do a great job of preparing offensive lineman for the pros. Take LeCharles Bentley out of the picture (his college career was nearly over when Bollman started coaching), and you're left with only one Buckeye selected in the top three rounds in the Tressel/Bollman era.
It would have been great to land Seantrel Henderson, but I don't blame him for picking a different school. (Although Kiffen's USC? No track record + pending ncaa sanctions = odd choice.)
Yeah, I forgot Roby. Probably because we seem to recruit 5 DBs and 2 OLs every year. I'm not sure I agree with those priorities.
Regarding what Mr. Green said at 6:03, "we have the ones who want to be Buckeyes" sounds like the sort of thing you say after a disappointing recruiting season. Indiana got the guys who want to be Hoosiers, but that doesn't mean they're any good.
The thing that separates the good recruiters from the best is that sometimes, you need to land the guys who maybe aren't sure right away that they want to be Buckeyes. I sense that some fans and perhaps even the staff believes there is something disreputable about salesmanship, which is where the hatred for Kiffin, Meyer, and Pete Carroll comes in. A school that thinks it's above trying to sell itself has a problem with complacency, IMHO.
Jim Fucking Bollman is what's going on friendo. He lays waste to NFL talent with his utter and complete lack of coaching, game preparation and development skills.
Yes, I'm not sure why OL depth isn't the top priority, but it's tough to argue with the 5 DB component of the method: our secondaries are consistently spectacular.
I still have trouble getting past LA's character issues. Tressel has taken recruits with those issues in the past--Jamel Turner in this class, in fact--but he's usually much more aggressive in pursuing them. He knows the guys he can work with. LA's recruitment has been bizarre, conflicting stories about committable offers and non-committable offers, bad grades, talking shit on the field.
I do think he's a 5 star talent, but we've had 5 star DB talent that has flamed out on us before and been kicked off the team. I don't know if pressing for LA and risking that the black eye is worth the gamble.
"There's nothing that cleanses your soul like getting the hell kicked out of you."-

Nothing wrong with getting your ass beat once in awhile. It will help JT re-evaluate where they are.
Fellow Buckeye fans, take comfort in the fact that we won The Rose Bowl, and beat the piss out of "The best offense in CFB". Another Top 5 year under JT. How fortunate are we when the top programs in the country are listed...The Ohio State University is one of the ones mentioned? Enjoy the ride...JT won't be here forever and we are experiencing one of the best runs in Buckeye history.
Stay out of my head. I too actually like this class and am delusional enough to think TressCo Enterprises have earned more than enough decision making capital for us to assume they know precisely what they're doing.
I agree. I'd see USC over OSU in a heartbeat with Pete's staff still there, but what has Lane Kiffin shown he can do as far as putting talent in the NFL?
I posted this morning on the same thing. It is just bizarre that our O-line talent has not developed. We have had some very good commits on the O-Line and they never materialized. Here's one...Ben Person. Top O-lineman in the state of Ohio a number of years ago (year escapes me) Rode the pine for like three years and then had an average senior season. There are plenty more. It ain't pretty.
Exactly. There is little reason for worry when we've gotten to a point where anything less than a 10-win season is deemed a catastrophe of epic proportions. JT, warts and all, has been good to us.
I like this class too. Yes, it would have been nice with guys like Hicks, Anderson and Henderson, but how many of them would have seen the field in any meaningful capacity this year? How do we know Hicks won't get Dorian Bell'd? That Anderson isn't Jamario O'Neal? Or that Henderson isn't the next Alex Boone? Recruiting rankings are far from meaningless, but this particular year is just about the last year in which we need some epic, program-revitalizing haul. The two-deep is essentially set at almost every position.
I want to punch Kiffen in the neck. The guy is a boil on Satan's arse. That said, we'll be fine I think. If this becomes a repeat performance I'll start to worry but a top-15 class year does not a disaster make.
More importantly welcome new Buckeyes! Go out there and be somebody and have fun. I like hauling in some good DB's, leaves our Stoßtrupp front 7 free to search-and-destroy.
I sincerely wish SH all the best of luck and sincerely hope that he has not made a gigantic mistake by signing on with a coach who I sincerely think is a total loon and and a jackass.
I wonder which video Lane Kiffin showed Seantrel to seal the deal:
-- Mike Brewster standing at the line of scrimmage while his man just tackled the RB deep in the backfield
-- Alex Boone whiffing as a pass rusher blows right past him
-- Mike Adams shooting the shit with the walk-ons on the bench
-- Steve Rehring hunched over, sucking air
-- a JB Shugarts "Greatest False Starts" compilation
Really why would he want to come and play for Bollman when he could go elsewhere and continue to develop his skills?
Whatever, so we don't get the #1 guy. For Ohio State to score two #1 guys in 3 years...that would actually be unheard of. Yeah USC has been able to do that, and maybe some other schools. But we don't have a beach, the oval only has bikinis on it basically for only late September and May, it's windy and snowy, and most importantly, there isn't a road to the NFL for O-linemen with this coaching staff. I think Henderson mentioned something about wanting to be near the music industry, too...which Columbus doesn't offer. Yeah, it sucks, but on the other hand, it's probably not that big of a deal.
We need to stop getting our panties in a bunch, seriously. I'm over it, looking forward to the spring game and a possible run at a 2010 National Championship.
Glenville safety Latwan Anderson did not sign with West Virginia Wednesday as he continues to look at both Ohio State and USC, but when Tressel was asked about the possibility of adding a defensive back after signing day he simply responded “No.” damn
Just as Woody Hayes got so out out tune with his recruits in the post-Vietnam era, General Tressel cannot refrain from wearing his personal political "patriotism" on his sleeve (i.e. dumb trip to Iraq when he should have been thinking about recruiting).
He needs to realize that many of his desired recruits have moved on beyond George W Bushwack and realize Tress is stuck somewhere near 9/11.
I am embarrassed that we have follow the same team. I couldn't disagree with you more. Tress taking time out of his schedule to raise the moral of the fine men and women who defend our country is worth more than any recruit, no matter how much potential he has. Also, doubt taking 8 days out of his entire year has much to do with recruiting success. Didn't seem to hurt Mack Brown? Go Bucks!
"What you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
Mack Brown recruits the Reddest state in the union and his rednecks Texass boyze eat that patriotic crap like texas barbecue. Tressel tries to recruit smart young midwesterners who realize that the country has moved on.
what the f*** dude. you really need to take a look at what your typing and realize that you'll regret it or start re-prioritizing things in your life... trying to comparing/contrasting: luring college football recruits to brightening the day of young kids that are putting their lives on the line in a war torn foreign country is absolutely absurd.
Seriously, I am embarrased for you. I'd rather hang out with "Texas Rednecks" defending our country than fellow "fans" like yourself. I hope you never have a tragedy in your life that put's things in perspective.
Save the extra Schollies for the huge 2011 recruiting class that will lead to the next National Championship run after this years.....I'm thinking 2013 with many solid role players from this "dissapointing" class contributing.
Sound familiar to 2007 recruits contributing to 2010 National Championship run?
Look who just crawled out of his bunker after the ass whippin' in Ann Arbor. You been tossin' Dick Rod's salad in there all winter and did you just wake up & see your shadow after a long winter's nap? Or is it the shadow of your football program that used to be?
ok internet tough guy, calling out fellow buckeye fans intelligence levels are we? i feel just fine double-majoring at The Ohio State University, thank you... i'll take the high road
USC has as much tradition as any program. Not to mention they are the biggest show in a town of 8 million people since there is no NFL team out there. I'm not buying any reason he uses for academics/class size etc, but I certainly don't blame him for going out there and playing. It will be unfortunate for the kid if the program does get sanctions, but the NFL scouts will still find him if he is the real deal. I wish him luck, and out there he certainly will get a chance to play from the get go where here he probably wouldn't get a lot of PT>
So are you saying they haven't landed any big name recruits other than Pryor? If so, I definitely have to disagree with that one. Posey was a 5 star, Bell was a 5 star, Adams and Brewster also. I don't know what a big name player is exactly but I'd say having back to back years with top 5 classes getting big name players. Hall was another big name that everyone must have. Of those players mentioned, Adams, Posey, and Hall were all from Ohio. I don't see us not landing big names, or the best in Ohio other than this year. Where we did land Bryant who was a great recruit and we have a very good shot still at Anderson.

Memo to: Ohio State Coaches
Re: Recruiting
YUR DOING IT WRONG.
Regards,
Miserable Ohio State fans.
Lane Kiffen is a scUM bag!
Kifflin can mess up another one. At least I feel that with their situation this should be one of the last years for a awhile that they will be pulling them in like they are. Hopefully the mythical sanctions will actually come to head.
Obviously went with USC for the signing bonus.
It doesn't make sense. All he said about every school was that he "had a good time" while on his visits but when it came to tOSU he mentioned how good "coach tress was to him and his family."
Yet again we take it from behind from USC
Good luck to him. As far as all the whiny fucks, whining about only having the 14th ranked class this year, go bury your head in your Buckeye pillows and cry. I for one am glad to have evryone of the kids who signed today. Character means every thing.
I know we have a few kids who will end up being the next Animal and Maximus.
Besides, it aint' gonna matter when LIC goes the fuck off next year and wins a couple MNC's.
Well, crap. Best of luck to Henderson, and here's hoping Norwell makes us forget all about him.
how do we lose everyone of our big recruits!!!!!!!!!!!!
Overall I have been happy. We have gotten a lot of diamonds in the rough. Someone from this class will step up. Top 20 is still pretty good.
nobody has a top 5 class every year.. just doesn't work like that.. next year will be another huge year for us in recruiting..
if you want to bitch about something from this years class then get upset about the lack of offensive linemen coming in.. but overall this class has some great kids...
everybody forgets how much of a stud Rod Smith is..
Thank you sir. I will get a case of Pibber on the way home, solely to toast you with.
We do NOT promise gifts, recording contracts, cars, . . . . . . . . Good luck with your life in California.
GO BUCKS!
Proper punctuation?
Agree - we got some DB's - thats what we needed. I know you need O-line. We have Character and thats what counts.
"WE AREN'T WINNING THE BIG BOWL GAMES'
"Well, we're pulling in a top-5 class again"
"NOT GOOD ENOUGH, JIM"
"We won the Rose Bowl!"
"WE AREN'T PULLING IN THE TOP-5 CLASSES"
The great thing about Ohio State fandom is that there is no shortage of things to whine about. Or is that the bad thing?
Hey, remember when lackluster recruiting classes in 2003, 2004 and 2007 submarined the Jim Tressel era at Ohio State?
Wait, that never happened?

More importantly welcome new Buckeyes! Go out there and be somebody and have fun. I like hauling in some good DB's, leaves our Stoßtrupp front 7 free to search-and-destroy.
Bucknuts just sent out a correction.
Notice to all you retards that know more than our coaches! Celebrate those who did sign with the Bucks for the bums that didn't!
You're right, Sam. Instead of anger, it should be sympathy, The Henderson family just made a piss-poor decision.
Or you could just, ya know, wish an 18-year old kid who very nearly committed to your school the best of luck and go about your way.
I sincerely wish SH all the best of luck and sincerely hope that he has not made a gigantic mistake by signing on with a coach who I sincerely think is a total loon and and a jackass.
sincerely, bup bup buppington the third
Re: GOOD SHIZZY
the urban loses a recruit to scUM link says scUM's class is 27, but doesn't the B10 have a limit of 25?
Enjoy the condo. And the sanctions.
Really why would he want to come and play for Bollman when he could go elsewhere and continue to develop his skills?
here here.
I like you guys. {smiles all around!!! :) }
I brought the guitar. Anyone know Kumbaya?
BECAUSE BOLLMAN COACH 'EM UP SO GOOD!
Because we're the goddamn motherfucking Ohio State Buckeyes.
I know O-bla-di.
People who call other people retards just because they have a different opinion are retarded. Wait...
Maurice Clarrett would disagree
If they enroll early they can be counted as last years class. Michigan had 7 kids enroll early.
That just made me horny.
I wonder if he showed him pictures of The Rock and what Vol fans thought of him after he bolted?
oh yeah, forgot about that
Whatever, so we don't get the #1 guy.
Except USC. And Florida. And LSU.
It is dumb ass tripe like:
"we’re the goddamn motherfucking Ohio State Buckeyes"
that make any recruit with half a brain avoid "Colonbus".
Get your head out of you Colonbus and represent OSU with something other than being a stupid pork rind hole.
Go Bucks!
CLASSY.
"What you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
Best movie quote of all time.
Where in Tex are you? Can you smoke in resturaunts down there?
i heard there were idiot bucks fans out there, but i didn't believe it...well, until now.
Save the extra Schollies for the huge 2011 recruiting class that will lead to the next National Championship run after this years.....I'm thinking 2013 with many solid role players from this "dissapointing" class contributing.
Sound familiar to 2007 recruits contributing to 2010 National Championship run?
"smart young midwesterners" you can't be referring to the knuckle draggers who enroll in tOSU
You need to get laid.
Who is this dude??
Why are you always sad? 'cause your a scUM fan?
Look who just crawled out of his bunker after the ass whippin' in Ann Arbor. You been tossin' Dick Rod's salad in there all winter and did you just wake up & see your shadow after a long winter's nap? Or is it the shadow of your football program that used to be?
I hope a tranny hooker with AIDS bites you in the face
to always blow 2265 days u douchebag!!!!
calling you a douche bag is an insult to feminine hygiene
products. Move to Texas/Oklahoma and your IQ will rise twenty points---- to 66.
ok internet tough guy, calling out fellow buckeye fans intelligence levels are we? i feel just fine double-majoring at The Ohio State University, thank you... i'll take the high road
Greyhound Bus Fare to Waco Texas:
A Dollar 3.89
Even you can afford it.
we'll see how his dad's record deal with snoop works out........
yeah the last 2 years for LSU prove how important it is to land a slew of 5 star players every year.
