Kifflin can mess up another one. At least I feel that with their situation this should be one of the last years for a awhile that they will be pulling them in like they are. Hopefully the mythical sanctions will actually come to head.

It doesn't make sense. All he said about every school was that he "had a good time" while on his visits but when it came to tOSU he mentioned how good "coach tress was to him and his family."

I'm more pissed about Henderson shunning Tressel and crew for those scumbags out west. I thought his dad was monitoring closely and determined that most coaches were blowing smoke up Seantral's ass and lying to him. Guess what amigos, Kiffin is the second biggest liar in the business. I'm guessing Henderson has done his research, and seen what Jim Bollman has done to previous "Next Orlando Paces". I just can't blame the kid when USC is churning out first-round draft picks up front annually. I would never have made the decision myself, but you have to look at this from a perspective of what makes sense for him.

Right now, USC isn't the most stable program, but it has the most proven pedigree of any program right now in creating pro-ready NFL guys. Henderson is almost assuredly a 3-years-and-gone guy, and USC is the ideal place to play left tackle if you want to play in the league. It makes sense for him and his situation, so I can't criticize.

So we got a grand total of one new commitment after January 1? I'm not a recruiting alarmist--it's easily the most overrated day of the college sports calendar--but considering that the later in the season it gets, the more you can narrow your focus, this is a truly terrible showing.

Not quite. The 2003 and 2004 classes were junk. One of them - 2003, I think, with guys like Irrizary and Guilford - was half guys who didn't even end up making the team. Jenkins, Boone and Co were in the '05 class, which was fairly well-regarded.

How the F are people miserable? LIC and his minions demolished a revered Oregon team and is primed to bust out next season, especially since he's regained the Vest's trust. The defense is mature where it matters and if they can cover kicks, they'll be in the MNC conversation in early December.

The two deep on this team is wicked stacked. They didn't need a top 5 class this year. They needed system guys to add depth and develop.

Remember Mike D'Andrea. Remember AJ Hawk. One was purportedly "freakish" and one was "filler." The pundits are guessing harder than us.

Yes, Kiffin sucks, and is a pretty good representative of all that is wrong with college football today. That being said, the nepotism that keeps someone like Bollman in place is a good indicator of all that was wrong with college football yesterday. I love Jim Tressel, but I have a feeling he will go to the grave with Bollman at his side, figuratively and potentially literally.

I'm sure "Coach Bolls" is a cool cat, but he cannot develop talent. This many years in, he has shown he can create a truly elite center or two and not much else. Does anyone know if John Peterson was still coaching the tackles at the end of the year last year?

My uneducated opinion is that Jim Bollman doesn't appear to do a great job of preparing offensive lineman for the pros. Take LeCharles Bentley out of the picture (his college career was nearly over when Bollman started coaching), and you're left with only one Buckeye selected in the top three rounds in the Tressel/Bollman era.

It would have been great to land Seantrel Henderson, but I don't blame him for picking a different school. (Although Kiffen's USC? No track record + pending ncaa sanctions = odd choice.)

I hope at least Seantrel got to go balls deep in Layla. Zing!

Yes, I'm not sure why OL depth isn't the top priority, but it's tough to argue with the 5 DB component of the method: our secondaries are consistently spectacular.

I still have trouble getting past LA's character issues. Tressel has taken recruits with those issues in the past--Jamel Turner in this class, in fact--but he's usually much more aggressive in pursuing them. He knows the guys he can work with. LA's recruitment has been bizarre, conflicting stories about committable offers and non-committable offers, bad grades, talking shit on the field.

I do think he's a 5 star talent, but we've had 5 star DB talent that has flamed out on us before and been kicked off the team. I don't know if pressing for LA and risking that the black eye is worth the gamble.

Stay out of my head. I too actually like this class and am delusional enough to think TressCo Enterprises have earned more than enough decision making capital for us to assume they know precisely what they're doing.

I posted this morning on the same thing. It is just bizarre that our O-line talent has not developed. We have had some very good commits on the O-Line and they never materialized. Here's one...Ben Person. Top O-lineman in the state of Ohio a number of years ago (year escapes me) Rode the pine for like three years and then had an average senior season. There are plenty more. It ain't pretty.

Exactly. There is little reason for worry when we've gotten to a point where anything less than a 10-win season is deemed a catastrophe of epic proportions. JT, warts and all, has been good to us.

I like this class too. Yes, it would have been nice with guys like Hicks, Anderson and Henderson, but how many of them would have seen the field in any meaningful capacity this year? How do we know Hicks won't get Dorian Bell'd? That Anderson isn't Jamario O'Neal? Or that Henderson isn't the next Alex Boone? Recruiting rankings are far from meaningless, but this particular year is just about the last year in which we need some epic, program-revitalizing haul. The two-deep is essentially set at almost every position.

Whatever, so we don't get the #1 guy. For Ohio State to score two #1 guys in 3 years...that would actually be unheard of. Yeah USC has been able to do that, and maybe some other schools. But we don't have a beach, the oval only has bikinis on it basically for only late September and May, it's windy and snowy, and most importantly, there isn't a road to the NFL for O-linemen with this coaching staff. I think Henderson mentioned something about wanting to be near the music industry, too...which Columbus doesn't offer. Yeah, it sucks, but on the other hand, it's probably not that big of a deal.

Glenville safety Latwan Anderson did not sign with West Virginia Wednesday as he continues to look at both Ohio State and USC, but when Tressel was asked about the possibility of adding a defensive back after signing day he simply responded “No.” damn

Just as Woody Hayes got so out out tune with his recruits in the post-Vietnam era, General Tressel cannot refrain from wearing his personal political "patriotism" on his sleeve (i.e. dumb trip to Iraq when he should have been thinking about recruiting).

He needs to realize that many of his desired recruits have moved on beyond George W Bushwack and realize Tress is stuck somewhere near 9/11.

I am embarrassed that we have follow the same team. I couldn't disagree with you more. Tress taking time out of his schedule to raise the moral of the fine men and women who defend our country is worth more than any recruit, no matter how much potential he has. USC has as much tradition as any program. Not to mention they are the biggest show in a town of 8 million people since there is no NFL team out there. I'm not buying any reason he uses for academics/class size etc, but I certainly don't blame him for going out there and playing. It will be unfortunate for the kid if the program does get sanctions, but the NFL scouts will still find him if he is the real deal. I wish him luck, and out there he certainly will get a chance to play from the get go where here he probably wouldn't get a lot of PT>
