The decision we've all been waiting for is finally here.....and it didn't go the Buckeyes way.
Jordan Hicks, one of the nation's best players, has committed to Texas, ending his recruitment. He chose the Longhorns over the Buckeyes and Florida and has a shot to compete for a starting spot on Mack Brown's squad right off the bat next fall. Texas is having some day, as they picked up one of the nation's other top players earlier in DE Jackson Jeffcoat.
This certainly isn't the news Buckeye fans were hoping to hear, but keep your chins up as Seantrel Henderson, Matt James, Dominique Brown, Latwan Anderson, and Morgan Moses are all still in the picture to finish out this class of 2010.

so what was all that stuff below about hicks then?
I'm not surprised...seemed like he was headed to Texas the whole time. We will be fine at LB. Henderson is a must get though!
What stuff?
Committed to Texas? Wait a sec...what was all that one-in-a-million talk?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...
No surprise. Good news is this leaves a spot open to fill a need.
The experts at ESPN were wrong again.
Maybe I should actualyl red articles in full, and not "scan" but it seemed to suggest that Hicks had picked tOSU over the fighting bulls sans testicles.
Jim Rome?
the previous post was a joke, no? satire. turning a zen buddhist into a sweatervest.
it's sitll early here. i guess that means i need to walk to coffee bean(because F starbucks, that's why)
There are experts at ESPN?
+100 for Gravey
stupid 18 year old traitor. kids what can you do with them. he will miss the home cookin.
Little harsh, no?
on a funny note am i the only one who can't stop laughing about teabag sinking in the draft like the titanic. think it is awsome that he cant even take a snap from center and drop back on a three or five step drop without screwing up. on tosu side tressel can say to miller or any other qb next year or any year later in recruiting, so _____ u want to learn to play and be a qb or learn to be a h-back that can't throw out of the wild cat on sunday.. nuff said...
They don't have home cookin in Texas? Oh, the humanity.
seriously, at least he didn't go north.....
Exactly what I was thinking. I 'pray' Tebow being exposed as a likely NFL fraud due to a lack of experience/knowledge as it relates to a pro-style offense has an impact on future QB's decisions to head to Gainesville.
what are your thoughts about the tebow abortion commercial?
i think it could go either way. some people wouldn't have the abortion because they love tebow and want a min-tebow of thewir own. other's would rush to the clinic so they wouldn't have to put up with tebow 2.0.....
lol... yah and dont worry about him after he gets cut from some team in year 3 i am sure whoever paid that 3 mil for the commercial will be willing to throw soem scratch his way
I can't wait til he's a televangelist
you know if he would get laid he could probably make that 12 yard out in the senior bowl..lol... it is so much fun making fun of that douchebag. you figure in the south his tears could cure alot of thing but cant cure that throwing motion or the fact he is such a douche
He aint lyin!
Committed? So you're tellin' me there's a chance!
Ed. Note: [FAIL] Thanks for playing!
Focus on Family is paying for the ad. They are a anti-abortion and anti-gay (think it is something that can be "overcome") group. Most folks have their minds pretty well made up on where they stand on the issue, so I doubt he and his mom tearfully telling the tale of how she got sick when she was pregnant with him, will change their mind. The Dr.'s recommended an abortion but she CHOSE not to and had Tim. Lovely story and all, but as a Super Bowl ad?
Yes, because Tress is just stocking the draft with quarterback talent.
Well if it isn't the darkest cloud in the sky....
4 MORE BEERS! 4 MORE BEERS! 4 MORE BEERS!
Thanks, Southbay. Just putting to rest the notion that Ohio State's system is inherently superior to spread/wildcat ones because it produces better NFL quarterbacks. Wasn't even the case under Coop.
I'm just givin you sh*t brosef
I figured as much. Hopefully TP can turn that notion on its head in two years.
Traitor? To the state of South Carolina, where he was born?
as soon as Troy get's traded to Believeland we'll have a starting QB in the no fun league.
yeah, what a bastard, game cocks are goin all the way! to thursday ngith football every week!
Thank you Luke.
Honestly, I don't know why a LB of his caliber would pick OSU right now. We have such a logjam at linebacker. Next year maybe, but even then, Bell will be a redshirt soph, Klein will be a Junior... it's just tough to see the field here as a linebacker until you're an upper classman.
i go to school with him and down in west chester and evryone down here basically new it was Texas and he just wanted to keep the suprise to everyone else but it was Texas for a while
I CAN HAZ PHOTO TOO???!
on another funny note was bored read about that aussie punter kicker... dude is like the perfect tressel recruit... he can kick with both feet, nad is gonna be grey shirted, and played in a different pro sport and is a couple years removed from high school... lol.. tress has gotta be blowing up this guys phone.lol.. he might even drop a meyer line "god told me in dream that he saw you punting for us left footed for 43 yards downed at 5 then right footed 47 yards downed inside the 2" lol....
it'll be perfect timing too...
he can replace lebron as the local hero once lebron is in NY
dude, you're high. if lebron were to leave, he would be an idiot to go to NY where they won't even make the palyoffs, let alone get a ring
Hmm, shows how much I know. I always thought he was born and raised for many years in Texas. That's why I thought he would go to UT.
i have dropped that line several times now and the cavs fans have laid off each time, until now. i snagged you! i win! i successfully trolled!
SCORE.
PS - if cleveland wants to really keep LBJ they need more than two washed up centers, a man with an irrational attachment to guns, and side-kick nicknamed 'booby'
Aussie Rules Football is nuts. I honestly don't know why programs don't target rugby style kickers. The best kickers on most rugby teams are also the best athletes.
Sorry if I was a bit crude! It was a sarcastic response to the POLITICS above from anonymous!
dorritos:
if shaq is washed up then why does he still beat the shit out of bynum and gasol?
The cavs gave a much better show at the title this year than they di last year.
and who would he have in NY?
what's your team btw?
he weighs 400 lbs! and its not like he is setting the world on fire. he is avg 11 pts and 6 boards per in 21 mpg. which is pretty close to the numbers of tyrus thomas and taj gibson: 8 ppg, 6 rpg, 23 mpg.
your not washed up shaq is a bucket a game better than taj gibson.
i guess i am a pistons fan, but i really hate sheed and iverson so they were dead to me for awhile. now, i am a free agent. i dig the folks that play good open court basketball. whichever team is doing that in a particular year, is my rooting interest.
but it's all that he needs to contribute. and you'l also notice that when the opposition has a legit center that they kick the ball in to him more and he's more productive.
the pistons, oh god.....
still washed up.
he is going to be overwhelmed by the athleticism of the hawks and magic come playoff time.
he won't need to play that much against they hawks, they don't have a legit center.
now against the magic i think he'll be alright against howard. the whole point of having him is so they don't have to double on howard.
also, who stole charlie villanueva's eyebrows???
i will bet you 100 BUCKEYE AWESOME POINTS that you will be ready for a revamped Cavs team that does not include Shaq after the playoffs.
(though i should not be so confident bc David Stern often happens to the integrity of playoff series)
i honestly have not watched a single pistons game this year. the pistons are seriously dead to me. joe d wasted a pick on darko and then traded chauncey for iverson. worst GM ever.
Nah, i'll take him. After what I saw against the Lakers in both games i am extremely confident. The Lakers are the most talented team outside of Cleveland and the Cavs beat them up.
what happened to the thin man?
I remember a lot of people saying Cleveland was the most talented team last year, then when they lost in the playoffs it was because Lebron didn't have any help. I don't really care either way, but I don't know that they'll win it all.
LeBron needs a Pippen. Mo Williams is not even a poor man's Pippen.
LeBron hasn't had a teammate even close to Pippen. Are the cavs really gonna sit back and let the Lakers sign Bosh?
if the lakers signed bosh they'd be renting him for a year. I'd like to see the Cavs get Amar'e or Jameson personally.
Bosh would just cost Cleveland way too much.
Tressel to Hicks: "What are the chances of a player like me and a coach like you being on the same sideline?"
Hicks: "Coach..."
Tress: "C'mon, just hit me with it! I drove a long way just to visit you, Jordan."
Hicks: "Not good."
Tress: "Not gooood, like one outta of hundred?"
Hicks: "Not good, like one-in-a-million."
Haha glad you were on board with that BRolle.
It isn't exactly like Alex Smith has been a stellar NFL performer!
However, kids want to play in exciting systems ... and Urban has one. So, even if Tebow sinks, while other schools may be able to take the QB away from time to time, the athletes and the others that really make that offense run, will continue to go to Gainesville.
I think if Tressel can routinely run a stout offense, as seen in late 2005 and 2006, and revisited in this past Rose Bowl, more kids will sign up to play. But taking years off to develop "one player" isn't going to jive with most. Sorry, but, I think most are thinking "I could go to FL, TX, OK, and my stats can soar now, or, I can wait 2 years and have a stellar performance in a bowl game and hope coach uses the same game plan next year because our QB is ready."
Let's find an offense and run it, period, struggles or not. At least then the "weapons" know what they're buying in to.
did someone really say that if lebron went to the knicks that they wouldnt make the playoffs??!!???
thats friggin hilarious. 4 of us could play with lebron and we would still make the playoffs in the east
Hey Jim Tressel, good job not being able to land the #1 recruit in your home state.....way to hit the recruiting trail hard this year with one of the most mediocre classes I have witnessed in your tenure at Ohio State...Why haven't we gotten a Rose Bowl win recruiting bump, The best we got was a guy who decommited from Vanderbilt, really?
I'm sure JT is taking notes from armchair recruiters.
Brad Roby is better than Andrew Norwell? Christian Bryant? Hyde? Louis? Where are you getting your information?
We expected a small class, and we got one. Yes, it's frustrating that we haven't nabbed some of the bigger names out there, but this is still far from Jim Tressel's worst class. It's filling needs, and that's all it has to do.
Hey at leat we didn't have a three star recruit decommit and go some place else like michigan did.
This is a good class. Hicks wasn't a big loss when you have 2 deep at every LB spot. Bell 5 star, Sabino 5 star, Sweat 4 star, Rolle 4 star. Ohio State only plays 2 linebackers anyway it was a numbers game in the end and Hick had strong texas ties from day one.
Rod Smith is going to be special.
James Louis is going to be special.
If we get Henderson(which I believe we have a great shot at) he will make the class top 10.
The reason Ohio State's class isn't getting talked about that much is most of our recruits have been off the board for awhile and it doesn't make since to talk about recruits that have made up their mind already.
PHCBuckeye... are you retarded. You are putting far too much stock in top recruiting classes. Georgia, Auburn have had top 10 recruting classes the past 5 years running, see a lot of national championships hanging in their stadiums. And Hicks, is a moron, he wants to follow in Orakpos footsteps? Is he retarded, I mean you got two of the best universities in your own backyard in Penn State and Ohio State. Good for him, let him go. Just will clear the way for Sabino to be the true beast!!!
I know there are bunch of political idiots on this site but it was cool that Clarl Kellog got to chat with the president
Calling people idiots and then spelling "Clark" wrong = INTERWEBS FAIL.
meh
OK...we've got one guy calling out Tressel for blowing the Hicks deal and another calling an 18 year old kid retarded for going to Texas for his free education and to play for a pretty good guy in Mack Brown. Seriously now.
Yeah, Hicks is a Longhorn fan. I grew up in MS and had I been lucky enough to get an athletic scholly from tOSU you better believe I would have went there since I was a huge fan. Instead I just went as a regular student. Don't fault Hicks for doing what he always wanted, and don't fault Tressel. He didn't pull the God card on him like some other coaches out there...
Welcome to the internet, home of every type of idiot in the world.
I did.
The knicks and the Nets for that matter are beyond pathetic. The Cavs didn't make the playoffs right off the pat, and I would venture to say neither of those teams would either.
Coleman with the Buckeye helmet in a Black Jersey looks badass. Maybe a black alt. jersery in the future?
SUP SB?? Haven't spoken in awhile. How about those Bucks in Pasedena?
Watched in my Buckeye garage bar with the propane heater crankin. 20 beers from 12 Noon to Midnight. Hope you enjoyed it live and in person.
Haha, just realized they are dark blue. Well looks black from afar.
no. just no.
the only game i have been to that was better was THE game in 06
Time for a new subject kids
I was there too in '06. Tempe was great too. This one was just as fulfilling since we needed it and it was this year. Oregon cheerleaders as hot in person as on the Web?
How would you like to be a Michigan fan right now??
How's that??
http://www.cleveland.com/osu/i...
Nice article about losing Hicks, but revelatory about Christian Bryant and the type of leadership he is assuming to make the Buckeyes into a national championship contender. I'm excited about this kid, he could be the next Malcolm Jenkins/Kurt Coleman fiery leader in the secondary.
Yes, PHXbuckeye, I'm sure that JT is much chastened by your rebuke. Asshole.
Matt, Clarl is Clark's brother.
