once again, today is better than Christmas!

  2. Blake says:

Anyone else feel completely unsatisfied with this win? Yes, I’m glad we won, but good lord…there’s really nothing at all from this game that pumps me up, other than winning. I guess I’m spoiled but an 11 pt win over this shit team is definitely not the level of curb stomping I was hoping for.

    • Jason says:

I get what you’re saying. But if nothing else, just think of the 2nd drive of the 2nd half. The one where we ran for 1451 yards in 10 plays before that beautiful screen. That should be worth a smile or two.

      • Blake says:

I think I’m actually most pumped by Sabino’s kickoff coverage hate. There was pure hate coursing through his veins on that hit.

        • Brian says:

They won this game w/out pushing the issue at all. You know what they needed to do to win? Run, run, run, and don’t turn the ball over. That’s what they did. It was uneventful for the most part, but when have you seen a team put such little effort into the game and beat Michigan. The game was never in doubt in my mind.

        • southbaybuckeye says:

that hit hurt me when i watched it.

    • Jack says:

It’ll be more satisfying when we beat a really good M*ch*g*n team, but I see this whole time frame as a payback for those Cooper years when we struggled and those bastards from TSUN began calling the rivalry a non-event.

Well, now they can non-event themselves with their own hand on New Year’s Day.

I love the win, and I find it satisfying that we continue to get revenge for all those previous heartaches.

      Fvck ‘em

    • tampa buckeye says:

No question this was a weak win by Ohio state. Tressel called off the dogs early and often. Get used to winning ugly with coach Tressel. It would be a great win vs. a great team. However UM is no longer a great team or program.
      Michigan=Nebraska

      • mich fan says:

the game should have been 14-13….i’ll give the cosack bastards down south the win but not by that score….it’s sad that TFOR fucked up at the beginning giving you an advantage because you buckeyes should have won by more because of your “amazing QB”!

P.S. -”amazing QB” = selfish/worthless fuck giraffe who can’t do anything except run like the biggest god damn down-sydrome parade in the coolest trade/career school.

        • southbaybuckeye says:

“should have been”. HA! the “tard giraffe” didn’t throw 3 INTs either.

          • mich fan says:

yeah because the rest of the team makes him look good…he won’t make it out of OSU though.

          • southbaybuckeye says:

ummmm….. W. that is all. i’m sure the midget with anorexia has a big time future in NFL.

          • PAUL says:

Hey Southbay, How do you like that Michigan fan trying to talk shit. You and I duke it out over Tresselball all the time and yet this dumb ass calls out our QB when his had 5 turnovers.

            Tresselball 8

            Blowverines 1

          • southbaybuckeye says:

that dude had a case of the “s’posed ta’s”.

as always, I’ll take the W no matter how it comes.

        • Jason says:

Stay classy in defeat. You guys are a shell of what you once were and it must kill you.

          ALL IN FOR RICHROD.

          • southbaybuckeye says:

but but but…. they “should have” lost by 1 by his logic? NO FAIR!!!!

          • mich fan says:

I feel that we are staying classy. I just felt like voicing my opinion, that’s all. You guys did get the W and deserved it. I just left a buckeye fan’s house (not many options who you hang out with in remote military location,) and we agreed that it was a good game and should have gone a little differently. I still stand by my belief that, Terrel Prior is not that skillful of a QB and that T. For should have been benched when Richrod grew a pair. I am a Michigan fan but I am also a Big 10 fan…and your skill in the national standings did not reflect tonight…at all…it should have been a closer game in my eyes….but should have been a blow as a college football fan…that is all.

          • southbaybuckeye says:

            “should have”

grab a box of tissues and head over to hippie brian’s site.

          • mich fan says:

you still don’t get it do you? it’s more than just our rivalry! the big 10’s rep is on the line and you only care about this game?! yes i would love to fuck your shit up every year but now is the time we should realize that we, as a conference, need to nut up and play football. No team in the Big 10 has done that thus far! I already gave you the win! Just admit it wasn’t given to you by the people that actually played the game!

          • southbaybuckeye says:

“Just admit it wasn’t given to you by the people that actually played the game!”

but my team outplayed/beat your team. ……..

        • PAUL says:

While we’re on the subject of Should have’s, you should have been well versed on losing to THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES by now as you have only lost to us six years in a row and 8 out of the last 9!!!!

P.S. That amazing QB beat your amazing loud mouth defender who ran his mouth all week.

          TALK IS CHEAP!

          SCOREBOARD

    • Fail. says:

Do you guys honestly think that we went all out play calling this game? We stretched the field with throws longer than 15 yards twice, and Posey was behind coverage both times, they were just over throws.

Jim Tressel takes what a team gives him. And if a team gives 250 yards rushing, even though it may only account to 21 points and clock-control, hes going to take it. We didn’t have to turn all of those turnovers into TD’s. We COULD’VE scored 45 on them, but we kept things vanilla and just played our game and won. I don’t get how an Ohio State fan can’t be satisfied with beating michigan. I dont care if were undefeated playing their JV and we win 4-3. This was a super good win. We coasted and didn’t have to show ANYTHING to any team who we may play in the rose bowl.

Just because it’s not 45-10 doesn’t mean it wasn’t an easy, and satisfying win. Go cheer for the SEC if you want to blow teams out like that every week. This is TresselBall.

  3. Luke says:

…And now, a photo essay in awesome:

  4. C says:

Not the most exciting win ever, but I’m extremely happy with a mundane W….

And Tate Forcier getting picked 4 times.

  5. Matt says:

Never. Think of the 90’s. Nuff said.

  6. DJ says:

During the horror that was the JHC era, a win over U-M was a cause for complete delirium. Now, after six in a row, I breath a hugh sigh of relief, especially when OSU played pretty poor on offense (save for two drives where they were unstoppable). Yea, I wish they executed and blocked better on offense, but I never take the U-M game for granted.

Now on to the Rose Bowl! Go Bucks!!

(Love the photo essay in schedenfreude, Luke. Lick those tears up!!)

  7. RoweTrain says:

DickRod said no tampons today…just bleed everywhere!

  8. Jeff says:

how many days is it? (since scUM last beat us)

    • Sean N says:

I do know that it will be over 2,500 by the next time they get a shot.

      • Luke says:

Sean speaks the truth. 2191 though it will be 2555 going into next year’s game in Columbus.

        • DJ says:

It’ll be 2920 when they get a realistic shot in 2011…OSU has everyone back for a big year, and next year’s game is in C-bus.

A win next year would make it 9 of 10 for Tressel, and that would make up the 8 loss difference of the JHC regime.

  9. poe mcknoe says:

    Tate Forcier got mentally McGuffied.

  10. Ken says:

I see where Michael “Not in My Tunnel!” Shaw had quite the game. Seven (7) carries for seven (7) yards and one (1) reception for minus six (-6) yards.

What is it about Michigan running backs wearing #20 with a first name of ‘Michael’ being douche bags?!

  11. Sean N says:

Also don’t forget to flip on the BTN and root for the Hoosiers. An IU win would make the Wolverines “outright” on the other end of the standings.

  12. Proudbuck67 says:

Sign in crowd said 2191 days…..DAMN that is nice.

    • Jeff says:

you gotta love it – wins over scUM will never get old…. no matter how much my wife complains!

  13. BuckeyeChief says:

I will take an ugly 1 point win vs. scUM over anyting Coop could’ve done. I never could’ve seen this day growing up. I will take an ugly 1 point win every year till I die.

I do wish tis offense would open up though. Next year I feel it’s gonna happen.

    • Tim says:

I agree completely, in the 90’s, the success of the last 9 years was never even a consideration. I think that Pryor will earn a little bit more trust from Tressel next year, and more of those deep balls to Posey will connect for big plays.

  14. jfunk says:

    http://www.blackshoediaries.com/2009/11/21/1167488/noon-games-second-half-thread

Judging by the picture methinks they’re still a little bit bitter about the loss….

  15. Scott says:

“Ann Arbor is not just a whore anymore, Ann Arbor is Ohio State’s whore.”

  16. Blake says:

When they showed the aerial shots of the stadium, that crowd definitely had a more reddish hue to it compared to maize or blue. Were there as many OSU fans there as it seemed?

  17. Jeff Ford says:

Ok, I’ve been a loyal tressell supporter over the years. But after this game I have to say that watching Tressell play with a lead is like watching a retard trying to fuck a doorknob. 3 interceptions in the 4th quarter and what did we get? Maybe we burned 5 minutes of clock at best. I gave my UM friend 12 points and ended up losing that bet. Any other coach in the country would’ve run at least a draw/misdirection. I’m sick and tired of the straight handoff up the gut for 1 yard. I never thought I’d say this, I’d rather lose with balls than win by being a cowering retard.

    • Tim says:

No, you want to beat Michigan, regardless of how it happens.

    • Sam says:

I’d rather lose with balls than win by being a cowering retard.

Dude, I was with you until this. As annoying as Tressel’s fourth-quarter strategy is, it wins football games.

    • Joe says:

What you really meant to say was “lose with heart and great execution”, right? I understand the frustration with what’s happened, but if we actually execute the plays then everything works and everyone is happy. The problem is that we’re not good enough right now to execute a large percentage of the time. We do enough to win but are still failing on enough plays to give us all something to gripe about.

      • Jeff Ford says:

Execute a rb handoff straight into the heart of the defense???? How do you execute that when the other team has 8 in the box???? Everybody and their dog knew that the strength of the Mich defense was their d-line. I was expecting Sanzenbacher to catch 6 passes over the middle and for the Bucks to throw at least 4 screen passes. Look, I’m not asking for flee-flickers and a Texas Tech-like offense. But for the love of god, taylor the offensive game plan to attack the other teams weaknesses. Mich starts a walk-on at linebacker and free safety, the strong safety was out this week with an ankle injury. On the td pass to Herron on the screen play there wasn’t a wolverine within 15 yards.

I used to be with you guys, a win is a win is a win. But having a lead does not mean that you revert to a junior-high style offense. I love the Bucks and always will, but there are ways of opening up the offense without sacrificing a big risk in turnovers. We’re gonna get killed in the Rose Bowl.

      • PAUL says:

You speak the truth. People forget that Pryor missed a wide open Posey twice. Then you have 35-10

And then, Mich fan would kill a few more brain cells counting to the “15 points” we should have won with our not as amazing as his QB:):)

    • southbaybuckeye says:

boo fucking hoo. we won. stfu.

    • Ken says:

OK, Jeff, now I see where you’re heading. You’re just pissed that Tressel didn’t cover the spread. You could really give a fuck less about the outcome, other than your precious spread getting covered. Ass.

      • southbaybuckeye says:

that’s why you NEVER bet the rent.

        • Olentangy says:

I never ever bet on a game that the Buckeyes play in, other than a friendly wager with an opposing fan that doesn’t involve the spread..I am too much of a fan, I cannot judge the game properly.

  18. Kansas City Buckeye says:

If was happy with the amount of run plays being called. I hold my breath every time TP puts it up.

I never want to lose, “losing with balls” is quite possibly the most retarded thing I have ever heard. Winning beats losing every time.

    • southbaybuckeye says:

not according to capt retard. losing with balls > winning.

      • Ken says:

Yeah, at the end of 3rd qtr, I was hoping that we would end up with +300 yards rushing. Just because.

A win over UM is great, reardless of style point, or spread covering. Well done Buckeyes, you made us proud today.

Loved the helmet-sticker tribute to Stef Spielman as well. She must have been smiling upon us today…

        • southbaybuckeye says:

my money is on Jeff Ford being a BGSU grad of similar.

          • Jeff Ford says:

Yeah, and my money is on you celebrating your sons 8th place ribbon in his 5th grade spelling bee. Being the Big 10 champ is not what it used to be. If we play like this in the Bowl Game then we are going to lose big and OSU will keep getting trashed on a national scale. This is not 2006. LISTEN, ALL I’M ASKING FOR IS SOMETHING OTHER THAT 3 STRAIGHT HANDOFFS DURING 3 STRAIGHT DRIVES IN THE 4TH QUARTER. There are other plays to run that aren’t necessarily risky. omg!!!!!!!!!!

          • southbaybuckeye says:

i don’t have any children, let alone any sons. your “point” has fallen on deaf ears.

we won the conference out right. we beat mich-again.

go bgsu falcons/miami redhawaks/Cleveland state vikings.

          • BuckeyeChief says:

Don’t you put that evil on me, Ricky Bobby!

I am thinking the last two weeks Woody came down and told Tress “Son, just shove the damn ball down their throats. If it works, don’t stop”.

          • poop says:

I sort of get what Jeff Ford is getting at although I’m not complaining about today – loved it! It’s just that ,while Tresselball beats teams in the Big Ten usually (and that’s what’s most important) it almost never beats teams that match up talent wise. When we beat Big Ten (meh) teams using Tresselball it justifies using it all the time in Tressels head. His offensive philosophy sucks and he should be ashamed to put that garbage on the field. I wish he would stop trying to force things that clearly aren’t working like running Boom up the middle when it’s getting stopped. I wish he would stop sitting on thin leads and hoping that the defense can get a stop every time. Stop being so damn humble all the time and beat somebody’s ass! Please!
            /Rant over

      • Jeff Ford says:

Our play today is not going to cut it against the Pac 10 champ, which is what I’m hoping for. We beat Michigan by 11, are you kidding me? We should’ve killed them by at least 20. This is a team that had won 1 game this year in the Big 10. Celebrate mediocrity!!

        • southbaybuckeye says:

          W.

        • Brian says:

Yeah and Michigan, only scored 10 points. It was pretty clear Tressel wasn’t pushing the envelope. Why put the ball up very often when they 1, couldn’t stop the run, and 2 Forcier kept giving the ball to the Buckeyes.

Pardon my language, but I’m so fucking tired of coming onto this site and reading all the bitching non stop. Regardless of what people believe, the Big 10 is pretty damn good this year and to make it through with only one loss was good. Granted it was a bad loss, but to beat the other 3 top teams, 2 of them pretty good ass kickings, is a damn good year. Quit BITCHING and enjoy the result.

  19. RoweTrain says:

Southbay I’m with u..a win is a win…the entire 4th quarter all we did is run but why would u force anything when ur winning…tressel always pulls out all the stops against Michigan…he realized he didn’t have to this year and prob put them in his back pocket for the bowl game…SiX…and Rose Bowl…all that matters at this very moment

    • southbaybuckeye says:

seriously. how soon people take for granted the fact that the buckeyes won. all the sudden children i haven’t even had are winning 5th place medals. whack.

      • Brian says:

Some times it is frustrating seeing the offense sputter. But today, the offense did exactly what it was supposed to do. Why should he start putting the ball up and risk turnovers. We were plus 4 in turnovers. That ratio will win every time if you aren’t stupid about it. Michigan’s D is terrible and their offense wasn’t great. A game like this just go to Ann Arbor, make sure those assholes don’t get a bowl, look at the retarted look on DickRod’s face and start planning for Oregon.

  20. Shad says:

We broke Rich Rod’s brain. Schadenfreude at its finest

  22. RoweTrain says:

Just becuz ur QBs can’t throw to the right team (Taint) or tie their shoelaces (Duuurnard) don’t blame us becuz Pryor picked us…he managed the game like he was supposed to do…21-10 for number 6…2191 and counting

    • southbaybuckeye says:

i don’t care if pryor goes 0-15 as long as the buckeyes win. TAINT Forcier is an INT thrown bitch.

    • RoweTrain says:

I just wish I could go to Pasadena to get out of Maine in January…damn snow and economy are going to hold me back though

  24. BuckeyeChris says:

Great day! Life = Good. :) I do have a question… was I the only one wondering why we didn’t send all 11 after the punt right before halftime?! I mean… scUM was out of time outs so even if we didn’t get to the ball and knocked the punter down, they would have the ball at our 40 with about 0:15 to go. Don’t misinterpret. NOT a complaint!! Just a thought.

Also, how about same pants and helmets with black unis against Miami next year?

  25. Kalamazoo Steve says:

Just got home from game…nothing better than watching pissy skunk bear fan bitch at each other. One douche starts chanting “Fire Rich Rod” and another douche throws a water bottle at him.

    Worth every handoff.

  26. Scott K says:

It probably won’t be up for long, but check this out:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Miles

    Read the first sentence. Hahaha

    • Scott K says:

Ok, well it’s gone, but it read: Les Miles is a fucking idiot and the current head coach at LSU.

Guess his fans are a bit upset with his clock management there…..hahahahahah what an idiot.

Is it me, or is the SEC full of homer coaches. The only guys who seem to actually know what they’re doing are Saban and Meyers.

      • Matt says:

I been saying LSU has been overrated all year long. Hopefully they finally fall down the polls now. SEC is starting a downward slide and is top-heavy. This bowl season should be very interesting.

        • Brian says:

There are 2 good teams in the SEC. Just like you Matt I have said LSU is the most overrated team in the US. I’ve been ripped pretty openly on this site of all places for saying just that.

  27. Matt says:

“I knew people would be talking,” Justin Boren said after the game. “I wasn’t worrying about my safety. I had 70 guys to back me up. It’s awesome. I love Ohio State. I wish I had three more years here. We’re the outright Big Ten champions. It doesn’t get any better than that.”

  28. Brian says:

Scott, you beat me to the punch about Les Miles. I was thinking at the end of that game, this was Michigan’s number 1 choice? I’m not so sure he is any better than Dick Rod, and he’s a douche just like him. I really feel that Miles is one of the most overrated coaches out there, and his team today showed they are truly one of the most overrated teams. I guess with 3 losses they’ll drop to number 11 now.

  29. VB Buckeye says:

The SEC is gonna be in a down swing for some time… The trash talking days are over! I was explaining to my wife how tOSU (and Big10) has down years, but they’re always “in it.” When the SEC falls, they’re gonna fall hard and for a while… way down! Jesus Tebow is gone and he’s all they got… tOSU and the Big10 are gonna have a good year next season… just wait, Mark May! You won’t have sh*t to say!

    P.S. Tebow+NFL=FAIL!

  30. Shad says:

How can Justin Boren say that Michigan has no family values? This is the 2nd straight year they’re spending the holidays with their families.

  31. Blake says:

Anyone see this quote after the game?

“And the distance between the Wolverines and the outright Big Ten champ Ohio State Buckeyes, who walked out of Michigan Stadium on Saturday afternoon with a 21-10 victory? Get a load of this.

“Ohio State’s not that good of a team,” UM punter Zoltan Mesko said. “We beat ourselves.” Say what? Mesko won something called the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award, which makes him maybe the smartest Wolverine. Saturday, he sounded delusional.”

    http://www.sportingnews.com/college-football/article/2009-11-21/richrod-university-michigan-will-be-just-fine

    • Olentangy says:

Wow, kind of like when Jose Canseco said the A’s were clearly the better team when the Reds swept them 4-0 in the World Series.

  32. Mike says:

Hey, just got back from Ann Arbor. There were a ton of Buckeye fans at this game.

I don’t know if you could see it on the broadcast, but we got a full O-H-I-O going around their stadium. Yes, we not only owned their team, but their stadium as well. The first time they tried and failed to drown it out with boos, but the second time they just seemed so beaten, they gave up trying. Great day and a good win, even if it was a little lacking in big offensive plays. I’m happy any game we start with a defensive touchdown.

I almost felt sad for the Wolverine fans. They seemed really beaten down. Everyone was very polite, but subdued. On the way back, I heard one little five year old kid asking his daddy in a small sad voice “why are there so many Ohio State fans here?” Even the kid knows something is wrong in Ann Arbor.

Two years ago they ditched Carr for a 9-4 season with a bowl win against a top 10 team. Now they’re praying for a 9-4 season to save Rich Rod’s job. Rough times for the wolverines.

  33. Ravi says:

Anyone else like seeing all the Scarlet in that toilet bowl today? Must have been that time of the month in Ann Arbor…

  34. Anonymous says:

One of the best stats I’ve seen

    Previous 3 coaches Rodriguez
    Seasons 39 2
    Losing seasons 0 2
    Five-game losing streaks 0 2
Wins vs. Ohio St. 20 0

  35. Mike says:

Hey, so this may interest people.

Everyone keeps throwing around the statistic that Michigan is #1 in the Big Ten in offense, and that Rodriguez has his offense at least back on track. This seemed strange to me, since they’ve still been losing all of their big ten games, many times by a lot of points.

So I went and looked at the statistics, and they have been padding their stats a TON against really bad teams. 63 points against Delaware state does a lot for one’s average.

So I ran a quick comparison between the 2007, 2008, and 2009 Michigan offenses versus Big Ten competition – sure this varies year to year, but overall it’s a much better comparison than the out of conference schedule, as one year you can play undefeated Utah, where in the next you play Eastern Michigan. The numbers may surprised you.

Michigan scoring offense average versus Big Ten opponents:

    2007: 25.4
    2008: 23
    2009: 22.1

Yes, that’s right, against real opponents (if Notre Dame loses next week, Michigan will not have played a single out of conference school with a winning record this year) Michigan’s total scoring output has actually gotten worse this year.

Now, this doesn’t take into account defensive or special teams scores, I was just looking at the final numbers. And good defense can go a long way to putting your offense in better situations. But it definitely says something about how little RichRod actually has things turned around at this point.

  36. Psalty says:

This one was for Stefanie! I didn’t care if we won by one or a hundred today just as long we won. Go Bucks!

  37. Buckeyeholicwompa says:

Looks like its OSU vs. Oregon in the Rose Bowl

Oregon still plays another OSU first, but yeah, it’s looking that way.

So then the winner of the Oregan vs. Oregon State game goes to the rose bowl?

        • bup bup bup says:

pretty much. was really hoping arizona would win, not looking forward to playing oregon (although they are not that great away from autzen)

          • Brian says:

I want to play Oregon, who wants to go to the Rose Bowl and play Arizona? I mean a win against Arizona in the BCS will do nothing to help perception of the program. A win against Oregon would be good, and they will beat that team. Also, a loss in the BCS isn’t going to hurt any. The perception is that we’ll lose. Betting wise, we’ll probably be the under dog. They’ll beat Oregon.

    Fear Oregon.

    • BuckeyeChris says:

Anything can happen, but the D is going to have to play their best game. That LaMichael… dude (#21) makes moves at the line like we have not seen this year (sorry to disrespect you Michael Shaw) and has incredible burst. Solid run game and stout D will be our only hope in Pasadena.

      • RBuck says:

So you’re saying that Tresselball can beat Oregon? I’m going to be one of the few that agree with you.

        • Ultrabuckeyehomer says:

if you mean the “Tresselball” used to beat Michigan, I say no way we win the Rose. But I don’t think we’ll see that extreme of a version of Tresselball in the bowl game. You can run that against Michigan, you cannot run it against a real Div I program, and I assume Tressel knows that. At least, I hope he does.

A great win and I have no complaints with how it happened. But count me in as someone that has concerns about playing a good Oregon team with our current offense.
