Passions run high among Iron Bowl attendees

So do you root for the Zookers or the Bearcats at noon?

Also on deck: Alabama @ Auburn (2:30pm ET/CBS), Pittsburgh @ West Virginia (7pm ET/ESPN2) and a rolling Nevada representing the last decent hope of knocking Boise State out of the unbeatens (10pm ET/ESPN2).

Down goes the Bearcats. I have no reasonable explanation to why the Zookers even have a chance...and yet, that's my explanation for going with them. Zook does the unthinkable when the thinkable is all that is required.

Joe on 27 November 2009 - 12:08pm #

I'm going with the Zookers as well. Not that I think they will win, because I don't. I would just like to see a good football game and an upset win over Cincy might save his job for one more year.

pam on 27 November 2009 - 12:11pm #

The Fighting Zookers all the way. I want to shut up the "Cincy is the best team in the state of Ohio" fans. Hey Cincy, you are having a great season, congrats. Now go have 8-10 more go to 8 BCS bowls, win 4, throw in some Heisman winners and get back to me about which team it the best in Ohio

Buckeye20 on 27 November 2009 - 12:19pm #

Another good take Pam. I'm very proud of your ability to mix it up.

BuckeyeChief on 27 November 2009 - 12:32pm #

Great post Pam. The whole "we had two good years in a row, so f# the Buckeyes" and the team and fanbase making disparaging remarks for no reason is BS. I have always pulled for the Bearcats until last year. Talk is cheap, and I can't stand them or the fanbase now. Go Juice Crew.

Seth on 27 November 2009 - 12:54pm #

Wish I could see what that guy's arm tattoos say. Anyone have a guess? At least it doesn't say "GODS GIFT" like Quarless. Just another reason I'm glad we beat them this year.

Seth on 27 November 2009 - 12:55pm #

Nevermind, it says Roll Tide.

poe mcknoe on 27 November 2009 - 1:10pm #

Good stop by the Illini defense.

Bish on 27 November 2009 - 1:19pm #

Good stop by the Bearcats, oh... wait.

buckeye in athens on 27 November 2009 - 1:23pm #

Now if Illinois could just get themselves some special teams.. here I thought that Illinois was just going to dominate the rest of the day after that first drive.

pam on 27 November 2009 - 1:40pm #

They remind of the Rutgers fans here in '06. One good season in about 100 and all of the sudden everyone in the state was a fan. They are pretty quiet now.

741 on 27 November 2009 - 1:56pm #

If you have declare, "We are the best team in Ohio" you probably aren't...

Certain truths are self-evident: Fire is hot. Water is wet. Ohio State is, has been, and always will be the best football team in Ohio.

BuckeyeChris on 27 November 2009 - 2:31pm #

Would be nice to see the Illini represent the conference today. I, too, am growing tired of the UC fans. If Kelly goes to ND it's back to reality for them and we'll beat them like a drum (well .... 24-10... the Tresselball equivalent of a beat down) in 2012.

pam on 27 November 2009 - 3:02pm #

It is nice to see Chris Spielman back at work. I love when he calls games.

Baba Booey on 27 November 2009 - 3:26pm #

did those jerkoff's just steal our White Stripes Buckeye Bounce

Brian on 27 November 2009 - 3:26pm #

Giving up 20 points to Illinois, means you are most certainly not the best team in Ohio. If it weren't for the fact that Juice can't hit a wide open receiver, they'd have 2 more TD's right now.

Brian on 27 November 2009 - 3:28pm #

I still like seeing UC do well. I mean UC football fans are still better than UK fans. I live in NKY and I hear every year that UK qualifies for Music City bowl, that UK could beat Ohio State. If my team was traditionally not good, and they had a couple good years, I may talk smack too.

jdm on 27 November 2009 - 3:30pm #

did anybody read the yahoo article about the denver broncos' coach taunting the san diego players? so that doesn't bother me (not a big nfl fan, although i think taunting players before a game is idiotic), but then a broncos player defends his coach's actions and pretty much takes a shot at woody hayes...did anybody else get that impression? what a douche bag.

Mike on 27 November 2009 - 3:31pm #

Don't know we can claim ownership on that one. Didn't Penn State do it before us?

Brian on 27 November 2009 - 3:33pm #

I went to a game at Iowa about 5 years ago and they were doing that. It's not like Ohio State invented that. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome and a lot of fun, but I'm pretty sure Ohio State was not the first place that was used.

Mike on 27 November 2009 - 3:34pm #

I don't know I'd put money on OSU versus the bearcats this year, but I think it would be a very good game. Our awesome defense versus their awesome offense. It'd be closer than the bearcats fans want to admit.

Brian on 27 November 2009 - 3:36pm #

I'd be very surprised if Kelly goes to ND. If Notre Dame is going to pay 18 million to get rid of Cheeseburger, they will have a list with some HUGE names on it before they get to Kelly. That's not to say he won't get offered anyway. I'd thik there are NFL guys, former NFL guys, and some big college names they'll go after before they get to Kelly. Urban Meyer may have said he wasn't interested, but those are his famous last words at every program he has coached.

Brian on 27 November 2009 - 3:39pm #

If there wasn't a line to bet, and it was just strait up who wins. I'd put money on the Buckeyes. They have a great offense and all, but I think the buckeye offensive line would kill the D line of UC, Ohio State could put up 30 on this D, no way UC puts up 30 on the Bucks.

Brian on 27 November 2009 - 3:41pm #

I was really really surprised to see him back on already. He does a great job. I, even though some don't like Gres., like this whole crew. Gresie is senile though, but I never got the impression that he ever ripped OSU back in the day even with his son at Michigan. I know others don't feel the same, but I never picked up on him being that anti-bucks.

pam on 27 November 2009 - 3:45pm #

I have no problem with UC doing well. What I do have a problem with is their fans declaring, based one good season, that they are better than tOSU. They are going to be "little brother" for a long time, or as long as JT is the head coach.

pam on 27 November 2009 - 3:47pm #

Maybe being busy helps him. He is just so funny and passionate about football no matter who is playing.

BTW, Auburn just scored on the kick off vs. 'Bama

Brian on 27 November 2009 - 3:51pm #

I don't disagree with that at all, and believe me I hear it all the time living in the Cincinnati area. I've believed they would beat UC until the game against Purdue, but since Purdue, there's no doubt in my mind Ohio State would beat UC.

BuckeyeLtown on 27 November 2009 - 4:01pm #

All I have to say is remember the last time cincy faced a legit defense,...20-7 loss to Virginia Tech

Bish on 27 November 2009 - 4:05pm #

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is the same O we shut out, also how many calls are they going to get to go their way?

Bish on 27 November 2009 - 4:11pm #

Well I guess they just answered my question, wow that wasn't a TD.

BuckeyeChief on 27 November 2009 - 4:13pm #

The refs are getting payed by uc

Bish on 27 November 2009 - 4:14pm #
Baba Booey on 27 November 2009 - 4:14pm #

I was just looking for a way to get in on the hating...

I actually don't like that it became our "new thing"

Brian on 27 November 2009 - 4:20pm #

AND, if Juice could hit receivers who are open by 20 yards, they would have 1 more TD, maybe 2. I'm not hating on UC too much they are about to put up 50, but the Bucks D shut these guys out, and put up 30 in a monsoon. Just saying, it could've been much larger margin for Ohio State and much smaller for UC.

Sam on 27 November 2009 - 4:22pm #

The Bearcats are Hawaii '07 redux

e-roc on 27 November 2009 - 4:24pm #

....and the Big East.... which is apparently more than the BCS is paying them...

Brian on 27 November 2009 - 4:24pm #

When I went to the Iowa game 2 weeks ago, their fans started it up, when they tied the game. This girl behind me said, they are doing our cheer. I said ummm, did you watch the Penn State game Last week? They were doing it too. I think that may be where it started.

Brian on 27 November 2009 - 4:25pm #

I think they are much better than that Hawaii team. I think they are good, but not National Championship good.

e-roc on 27 November 2009 - 4:27pm #

Well put. Nuff said.

What does Notre Dame's logo say? "Irrelevant since 1994."?

Bish on 27 November 2009 - 4:36pm #

Yeah, I would love to have their O, being able to plug whoever in and put up 40 points a game.

bup bup bup on 27 November 2009 - 5:20pm #

i don't know why i punish myself by watching football on CBS

Sam on 27 November 2009 - 5:38pm #

We have the talent, just not sure we have the will (or the offensive staff for it, for that matter)

Baba Booey on 27 November 2009 - 5:38pm #

SEC Slob Knob Fest, just wait til their ESPN gig starts.. can you imagine

Sam on 27 November 2009 - 5:39pm #

I'm not sure. Sagarin has their SOS lowest of all top-25 teams save Boise State, Penn State (of course) and Oklahoma State

bup bup bup on 27 November 2009 - 5:40pm #

all i know is that i'm going to avoid watching the florida/FSU game at all costs

Brian on 27 November 2009 - 5:44pm #

Did you all hear the Notre Dame rumor at halftime? They said Notre Dame is in touch with Brian Billick. I thought it may be an NFL guy but didn't expect Billick. I'm ok with him in South Bend. He doesn't have Marvin Lewis to build the defense.

Robb on 27 November 2009 - 5:54pm #

Ingram not looking Heisman-like today!

tampa buckeye on 27 November 2009 - 5:55pm #

Who have they beat? Didn't Ohio state blank the Illini. Defense wins championships. Get a playoff or college football will continue to be a joke.

Buckeye33 on 27 November 2009 - 7:44pm #

Clemson tries Tresselball & loses !!!!!!!!! Up by 7 & every first down is a dive into the line (look familiar..2nd & 10). Then the last Bama drive & you knew Clemson was dead !!!!!

BuckeyeChris on 27 November 2009 - 7:47pm #

That's right. We are the ones who need to go to "Be an Original" Camp.

BuckeyeChief on 27 November 2009 - 8:05pm #

33 Don't you mean Auburn?

Luke on 27 November 2009 - 8:46pm #

They beat Oregon State on the road. That's a better win than that Hawaii team had all year.

iball on 27 November 2009 - 9:13pm #

For all you high school fotball fans, Cardinal Mooney is playing Stuebenville on SportsTime Ohio in the d3 semi-finals. Tomorrow night at 7, they will air the Glenville/Massilon D1 semi's. Plenty of potential Buckeyes in that one.

Sam on 27 November 2009 - 9:34pm #

Perhaps, although that Hawaii outfit beat a ten-win Boise State team.

PAUL on 27 November 2009 - 11:04pm #

I'm excited about Latwan Anderson. He can do it all. take Anderson, the two Corey's, James Louis and James Jackson with Roderick Smith and I hear Carlos Hyde will make the team for next year. That's just depth for the offense. Jordan Hall and Jermil Martin-Is it possible that Jamaal Berry may be the odd man out?

How can you not be excited about this????

BuckeyeSki on 27 November 2009 - 11:18pm #

I think Berry finds his way into the 3 deep next year for sure. You gotta remember he was legit hurt for half the season. I watched the kid play in the Army A.A. game, and the H.S. Top Recruit games and he is the real deal. Very fast, with great cuts and elusivness. Granted, that can all change at the college level, but I think he see's some playing time next season for sure.

PAUL on 27 November 2009 - 11:55pm #

My point exactly. There is so much talent and depth that even a stud like jamaal Berry is going to have to compete to earn playing time. I think you're right. He'll earn playing time and that's why I'm so excited. Look at how the competition between Boom and Zoom elevated the level of play and evolved into the dominating one two punch to end the season.

Brian on 28 November 2009 - 12:19pm #

With the core of the line coming back, imagine how good Boom and Zoom will be next season. Not to mention Pryor, Posey, and Carter. This offense will be scary good next year. I just hope to not lose Thad and Cam from that D.

iball on 28 November 2009 - 2:34pm #

Losing two guys like that never helps, but with guys like Safari Planet and Nathan Williams, I'm not totally worried. These next 2 seasons will be very telling of Tressel, ability will definitely NOT be an excuse.

iball on 28 November 2009 - 2:36pm #

If you get SpotrsTimeOhio, watch #1 and #2 for Glenville tonight. They both hold offers from the Buckeyes. #1 might be the fastest high school player in the country.

Uncle_Buck on 28 November 2009 - 5:51pm #

The Florida vs Florida State game is unwatchable. They should have just gave the game to Florida and ran a 4hour tribute to tebow, it would have been the same thing. Makes me puke.
Its worse then watching a game with Phil Sims commentating about Tom Brady.

Robb on 28 November 2009 - 10:36pm #

Houston put up 52... In the first half against Rice!

Robb on 29 November 2009 - 12:50am #

Ok State blanked by an unranked!

PAUL on 29 November 2009 - 1:50am #

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas:)

NewYorkBUCKI on 29 November 2009 - 8:13pm #

Baba Booey to y'all

NewYorkBUCKI on 29 November 2009 - 8:15pm #

No WAY Cincy beats us this year - let's see them play a Big 10 schedule week in and week out - enough already, I'm officially sick of the Bearcats. Let Kelly go to ND and get chased out in 3 years.
