Indiana Open Thread

Il buono, il Saino, il cattivo.
Kickoff: 8:00PM ET
Previews: 11W, OHD, BC
Favorite: OSU (-18)
Television: Big Ten Network
Radio: OSU Football Affiliates
Weather: Overcast, but dry

A Saturday night date with the Hoosiers. If all goes according to plan, the Buckeyes will continue to build momentum and iron out kinks on their way towards becoming a scary dangerous team.

I'll be looking for a couple of things. First is the obvious storyline of Saine getting the captain nod and earning his first career start after a couple of weeks of hard running and a slight tweak of Herron's ankle. This is the fifth game of the season and the team still doesn't have a running back that can claim a 100 yard outing. Blasphemy.

The offensive line, while appearing to gel at times the past two weeks should get a pretty good edge test from Middleton and Kirlew tonight. As in this is likely the best pair of defensive ends they've seen. Is this the game Mike Adams makes a name for himself -- in the film room at least?

If it's not Adams, it will be interesting to see if another youngster uses this game to announce his presence. As a redshirt freshman in 2003, Santonio Holmes showed up in Bloomington for game eight of the season with two catches for 37 yards. He went off to the tune of six catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns. The following season, a green Teddy Ginn did this to the IU.

Finally, I really want to see Anderson Russell step up and have a great game. I'm hoping he just needs to get his head right and he'll bounce back tonight filling in for Coleman. If this team wants to have a big season, they will likely need Russell's services down the road.

What are you guys looking for?

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 6:57pm #

Let's go Bucks! Don't be part of the mantra today of these crazy close games. Let's hear the gameday crew run down the close games with so many teams and then say "Ohio State absolutely rolling over IU tonight."

Massey on 3 October 2009 - 7:02pm #

The Big Ten Network game intro is the lamest thing I have ever seen. How does that get past the people that it has to get past?

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 7:04pm #

Mike Adams gets another start at RT. Brew Crew is operational.

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 7:07pm #

Flatts is kinda shitty, but they're our shitty Rascal Flatts.

Massey on 3 October 2009 - 7:08pm #

Actually, I take it back. The Velveeta sponsorship is even more lame.

flipbuckeye on 3 October 2009 - 7:19pm #

Saine with some long runs to start.

Luke on 3 October 2009 - 7:20pm #

TP with the homage to Ty Moeller on the eye black today.

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 7:22pm #

He has looked good.

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 7:22pm #

All he does...

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 7:22pm #

You know Pops loved that.

flipbuckeye on 3 October 2009 - 7:23pm #

Great hands by lil Carter.

NorCal Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 7:25pm #

Loved how D dot Carter was soo concerned about handing the ball to the ref after the TD. Likely a combination of JT and dad in his ear.

Kennywayne34 on 3 October 2009 - 7:25pm #

That kid is the truth

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 7:28pm #

Russell with the recovery!

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 7:28pm #

If the fumble stands, great play for Russell's confidence.

Kennywayne34 on 3 October 2009 - 7:28pm #

Silver bullets!!!!!!

Luke on 3 October 2009 - 7:29pm #

Anderson Russell with a nice recovered fumble. Let's kindly reign in the hate now fellas, shall we?

Dean on 3 October 2009 - 7:29pm #

Sigh. Lousy BTN being unavailable here. Just saw the highlight on ESPN, though, it was a nice catch, and yes, I think most guys after dropping the ball like that would've just left it there. So polite!

Kennywayne34 on 3 October 2009 - 7:31pm #

Tp looks like he trying to stay in the pocket a little longer tonight.

BuckeyeJOE on 3 October 2009 - 7:32pm #

damn big 10 network, i missed two plays

Kennywayne34 on 3 October 2009 - 7:33pm #

WTF? BTN come back from commercial and it's
third down? They need to concentrate on the production rather than trying to push the queso.

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 7:34pm #

Andy Miller got a serious tan in Bloomington, didn't he?

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 7:34pm #

Wow, gift first down there. Newsome banged up on the play -- hopefully just wind.

741 on 3 October 2009 - 7:36pm #

Worst broadcast ever so far.

Luke on 3 October 2009 - 7:36pm #

Andy Miller. Jonathan Newsome. It's not that hard, BTN.

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 7:36pm #

False start - everyone drink

Nik on 3 October 2009 - 7:37pm #

how can espn or cbs or whoever else manage to get it right for like 119 teams or whatever, but the BTN can't even know 11 teams...

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 7:37pm #

Let's not do this. We'll all be hammered by 9.

Nik on 3 October 2009 - 7:37pm #

darn, i haven't seen that yet, now i'm pre-pissed, lol

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 7:38pm #

Might as well be identical twins.

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 7:39pm #

This must be a damn important drive for 2 TOs.

Luke on 3 October 2009 - 7:40pm #

Darrell Hazell looks to be calling some plays again.

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 7:40pm #

Back foot, arm punt.

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 7:40pm #

lol sideline awareness

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 7:41pm #

Sheessh!

NorCal Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 7:41pm #

Hazell was stylin' and profilin' with his jacket tucked into his khakis.

I made the girl go out and buy some Rotel and Velveeta, so I guess those annoying commercials work.

Joe on 3 October 2009 - 7:41pm #

Aaron Pettrey, close your grip a bit to get the nice little draw down the fairway.

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 7:41pm #

Next time, take the delay of game so Pettrey can kick from 40+ where he's comfortable.

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 7:42pm #

Must have cheese....must root for Tennessee

flipbuckeye on 3 October 2009 - 7:42pm #

I was about to say the same thing. 40+ Pettrey is a beast. Any closer and all bets are off.

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 7:46pm #

well, since there's no way for me to watch the game here in japan i'm just gonna stare angrily at the espn gamecast and hope that the BTN broadcast is really really terrible

Bish on 3 October 2009 - 7:46pm #

Does anyone know if TheFan broadcast syncs with today's broadcast? These guys sound like they were picked up on the side of the road and they're paying them with food.

Joe on 3 October 2009 - 7:48pm #

Agreed, although you gotta love Mason using the "Silver Bullets" moniker.

Nik on 3 October 2009 - 7:48pm #

i have a sudden urge to "come to Penn State!"

741 on 3 October 2009 - 7:48pm #

OK - I won't complain any further. Good morning.

Nik on 3 October 2009 - 7:49pm #

http://www.thebuckeyebattlecry...

instructions on how to watch, that's how i'm watching it too

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 7:49pm #

Anyone know who's D that is out there?

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 7:49pm #

Well, this is surprising.

Joe on 3 October 2009 - 7:50pm #

Come on Brian Rolle, get on your horse!

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 7:50pm #

welp, looks like the shutout streak is over

Kennywayne34 on 3 October 2009 - 7:51pm #

I thought they outlawed stick um

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 7:51pm #

barf

Joe on 3 October 2009 - 7:51pm #

Review that fumble.

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 7:52pm #

okay, kind of glad i didn't have to watch that

Luke on 3 October 2009 - 7:52pm #

Ridiculous catch by Doss. Shutout streak over. C'est la vie.

BTW, can someone teach the BTN how to superimpose their bottom line? They resize the entire picture without preserving the proportions every time it pops up.

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 7:53pm #

Upheld.

If we don't come back with 7 I'll be ticked.

NorCal Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 7:54pm #

Did he just say "Buckeyes lead by 7"?

flipbuckeye on 3 October 2009 - 7:54pm #

Very disappointed so far. Seems like our defense didn't respect IU's offense with all this wussy tackling.

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 7:54pm #

First play of the ensuing drive prediction: off-tackle

Buckeye.de on 3 October 2009 - 7:54pm #

Can't get the game in Germany as well...Gamecast for me...

Nik on 3 October 2009 - 7:55pm #

"Buckeyes lead shrinks by 7"

weird wording, but whatever

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 7:55pm #

"Shrinks the... Buckeyes' lead by 7" or something along those lines

Joe on 3 October 2009 - 7:56pm #

Small gets it done!

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 7:57pm #

probably didn't, but indy is much improved over the last few years. they still mostly stink, but they aren't a glorified 1-AA team anymore

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 7:57pm #

If this is HD, it must be raining pixels.

Luke on 3 October 2009 - 7:57pm #

Who needs Flash Thomas? I kid (kind of).

Kennywayne34 on 3 October 2009 - 7:58pm #

These announcers can't even talk. Than the picture goes to atari mode

NorCal Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 7:58pm #

Wow, ripping off ESPN's commercial format. It just annoys me even more since the B10 Network only comes in "Standard Definition" on Comcast out here. It seems like I'm watching ESPN Classic, at times I'm hoping Spielman slams a RB to the not-yet-existing Fieldturf.

Sanzenbacher is SOLID this year.

Kennywayne34 on 3 October 2009 - 7:58pm #

Way to punch them back in the mouth

Shang Tressel on 3 October 2009 - 7:58pm #

Bill Lynch: YOUR SOUL IS MINE

Joe on 3 October 2009 - 7:58pm #

Ho hum, right down the field for a TD. I love it.

flipbuckeye on 3 October 2009 - 7:59pm #

Gotta score first.

Luke on 3 October 2009 - 7:59pm #

I was about to point that out earlier. The feed is doing that thing is does with the parquet floors during BTN HD hoops broadcasts. Evidently they bought their HD cameras out of the trunk of some dude's car.

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 7:59pm #

yaaaaaaaaayyy! i bet that was fun to watch

741 on 3 October 2009 - 7:59pm #

lol

flipbuckeye on 3 October 2009 - 7:59pm #

Or did they? This online stream is like 2 minutes late. :(

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 7:59pm #

Wow. That's exactly what we needed. Great job all around.

741 on 3 October 2009 - 8:00pm #

Easy.

NorCal Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 8:00pm #

BuckNasty, is your signal grainy as hell? I get stuck with all of Paterno's wrinkle's in clarity, but the grass is from Madden's first game during gameplay.

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 8:00pm #

I try to imagine it's being broadcast from an iPhone. Because if it were, then this looks really good.

buckeye in athens on 3 October 2009 - 8:01pm #

jeez offense - you could have given the D more time to rest...

i kid i kid

Joe on 3 October 2009 - 8:04pm #

Fear the Rolle when he's blitzing.

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 8:04pm #

That was an excellent open field tackle by Russell.

Kennywayne34 on 3 October 2009 - 8:04pm #

Those Ind. back ups looked like they were doing a circle jerk

741 on 3 October 2009 - 8:05pm #

Me too.

Joe on 3 October 2009 - 8:05pm #

He's having a pretty decent game so far.

spencer096 on 3 October 2009 - 8:06pm #

/dogsitting with nothing else to do

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 8:06pm #

Yeah, same thing. Zombie's come in clear, Buckeyes... not so much.

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 8:07pm #

Beers are in the cooler. Help yourself.

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 8:07pm #

spencer096 on 3 October 2009 - 8:08pm #

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 8:09pm #

That's some Harvin-esque change of direction.

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 8:10pm #

Pryor's going to have 300 yds rushing tonight. 100 forward, 200 laterally.

flipbuckeye on 3 October 2009 - 8:10pm #

Hold on to your gum coach!

Joe on 3 October 2009 - 8:13pm #

Ok, weaken the grip a bit so you don't draw too much.

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 8:13pm #

If these missed FGs come back to bite up .... ouch, head....hurts.

Kennywayne34 on 3 October 2009 - 8:13pm #

Pettrey's on the fix

spencer096 on 3 October 2009 - 8:13pm #

Paging Devin Barclay/Ben Buchanan. We need a short kick specialist.

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 8:15pm #

Pettrey's off, but I'd rather him get all his"suckiness" out in this game then when we need him!

Buckeye.de on 3 October 2009 - 8:15pm #

Get the misses out of the system @ IU...

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 8:15pm #

i don't think that's how it works, but i hope you're right

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 8:16pm #

There's a support group for it, we meet at the range

Kennywayne34 on 3 October 2009 - 8:16pm #

No kickoff I guess

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 8:17pm #

BTN is failing hard

Joe on 3 October 2009 - 8:17pm #

I've only played once this year. My hands are shaking from withdrawal.

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 8:17pm #

Really? That's definitely how it works... I think?

spencer096 on 3 October 2009 - 8:17pm #

hello, my name is spencer and i have a bag full of putters that don't work...i mean, im an addict.

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 8:18pm #

so what's the atmosphere at the game like? a night game at indiana sounds silly to me, like a dog wearing a dress, so i can't really imagine it

Joe on 3 October 2009 - 8:19pm #

Pretty sedate, not exactly rowdy.

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 8:19pm #

Yea... they were way late coming back from a commercial earlier. WTF? And I'm in VA so I'm paying for this?

spencer096 on 3 October 2009 - 8:20pm #

uh...can we get some coverage in the flats please? PLEASE?

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 8:21pm #

The the movie Idiocracy included a CFB game, Indiana's ridiculous arm-swinging cheer would've been in it for sure.

NorCal Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 8:21pm #

It appear's that they're using TiVo to telecast this game and it's replays.

INT!!!!

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 8:21pm #

Todd Denlinger's soft hands to the rescue.

spencer096 on 3 October 2009 - 8:21pm #

great INT. love the bigguns getting their hands on the ball.

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 8:21pm #

How do you not see Todd f'in Denlinger in all white in front of you?

Luke on 3 October 2009 - 8:21pm #

Playing a lot of Cover 3. Preventing the deep threat, but they're nickel and dime'ing the pants off this defense.

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 8:21pm #

TURD DURLINGER!

741 on 3 October 2009 - 8:22pm #

How did Denlinger make that read? That was sweet!

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 8:22pm #

1 game suspension! Do it!

Kennywayne34 on 3 October 2009 - 8:22pm #

Dirty

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 8:22pm #

Beanie clearly taught TP a thing or two about the SOAJ

Buckeye.de on 3 October 2009 - 8:23pm #

Maybe we should kick a FG from the 38 to get Pettrey's confidence back...

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 8:23pm #

Seriously. LOL

Joe on 3 October 2009 - 8:23pm #

Zone blitz

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 8:24pm #

Stolen from Rob Oller's Twitter feed: Pettrey's misses have taken away half of Tressel's playbook.

Kennywayne34 on 3 October 2009 - 8:24pm #

Nice

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 8:24pm #

Buckeye.de on 3 October 2009 - 8:25pm #

There is some delay in my comments from Germany...

spencer096 on 3 October 2009 - 8:25pm #

this is MUCH better.

feeling good...feeling the flow. it's all in the hips.

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 8:26pm #

Now I get it, only freshman are allowed to score 6 pts tonight.

Joe on 3 October 2009 - 8:26pm #

The deep onside kick!!! Coach must have read my flashback post on Monday.

buckeye in athens on 3 October 2009 - 8:27pm #

this makes me smile

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 8:27pm #

Ridin' the bull, Boren?

Kennywayne34 on 3 October 2009 - 8:27pm #

Pick 6 before half

Nik on 3 October 2009 - 8:27pm #

Posey scored earlier, didn't he?

spencer096 on 3 October 2009 - 8:28pm #

so chappel's dree brees-esque birthmark is giving him actual passing prowess?

na.

Bish on 3 October 2009 - 8:29pm #

I'd like to second that, Saine was killing it earlier

Kennywayne34 on 3 October 2009 - 8:29pm #

I hope btn remembers that there are two halves in a college football game.

spencer096 on 3 October 2009 - 8:30pm #

we don't care for facts around here...

am i allowed to be snarky since im new?

buckeye in athens on 3 October 2009 - 8:30pm #

these announcers are ridiculous - no attempt at impartiality

Luke on 3 October 2009 - 8:30pm #

Glad to see the beating off hand motion is a play call for the Hoo Hoo Hoosiers. (That play is "throw the ball way behind your receiver", for those wondering)

Joe on 3 October 2009 - 8:30pm #

Chappell definitely fears Thaddeus Maximus.

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 8:30pm #

Nik on 3 October 2009 - 8:33pm #

errr.... expected

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 8:33pm #

no, this is not a good time for evil Tressel

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 8:33pm #

Supposed to be a right leg injury for Dexter, btw.

spencer096 on 3 October 2009 - 8:34pm #

lets just hope it's a quad strain or something...hope he's not gone for long.

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 8:35pm #

stat-wise, good first half for the offense. 96 passing yards isn't all that great, but 183 rushing yards is awesome and it looks like the coaching staff finally figured out how to use our collective rushing ability

buckeye in athens on 3 October 2009 - 8:35pm #

i feel shaky about our defense just because they gave up their first points in 10 quarters.

i suppose it could be worse..

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 8:35pm #

Shutout=over... time to hang a hundred on 'em! It's the only way to not drop in the rankings!

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 8:36pm #

No?

NorCal Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 8:36pm #

Those big boys all have jacked up legs. It's hard not to think they all played with injured knees every week to some degree. DonJoy must make a killing from BigTen linemen alone with those knee braces.

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 8:37pm #

I would say you're overreacting, but given the way we've been treated in the polls lately...

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 8:38pm #

just hope saine isn't hurt

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 8:38pm #

I'm worried too. He was nowhere to be seen after the first quarter.

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 8:39pm #

also if larimore is down that's a big loss. we can cover for him, but he's probably our second best DT

NorCal Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 8:41pm #

I like Larimore at NT though, he's held strong in a tough assignment. I dig Dexter, hate to see him go down.

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 8:41pm #

Well, we've been talking about the DL depth all season. Time for it to show up. But I agree; big loss. I think Denlinger will mostly make up for it.

Buckeyeholicwompa on 3 October 2009 - 8:42pm #

Hazell needs to call plays full time. I can see a pattern in the OSU offense. If were using the same play on the same drive over and over again such as the zone read and read option then we gotta mix it up a bit. Different formations, downfield stuff, over the middle, throw the RB. etc.

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 8:43pm #

yeah, denlinger and simon are both more than capable, but you hate to see a starter go down even with the kind of depth that we have on the d-line

Kennywayne34 on 3 October 2009 - 8:47pm #

Sorry for the silly question but why's the status of young Jamaal berry ? Redshirt?

spencer096 on 3 October 2009 - 8:48pm #

red eyes i think.

/tip your waitresses
//try the veal

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 8:48pm #

He's apparently a little nicked up and the staff is (understandably) hesitant to give him PT/potentially burn his redshirt

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 8:49pm #

probably, he's semi-injured and we haven't really needed him as of yet because of depth. but if saine is hurt, we've got a gimpy herron and marcus williams and that's about it for RBs. Tressel really doesn't seem to want to burn berry's redshirt, but if you gotta, you gotta

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 8:49pm #

hiyooooo

I'm being sarcastic, but you get my point!

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 8:51pm #

Small thread-jack, but Bup3, how's Japan?

NorCal Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 8:51pm #

Which seems odd these days; if he's that great he'll be gone in 3 years of elligibility anyways so the whole redshirt thing of past seems barely needed in retrospect anymore. It's not like we have recruiting issues, we get backs every year.

I'm not going to be mad about seeing one of those kids get another year with our strength & conditioning staff, as well as top notch nutrition.

Uncle_Buck on 3 October 2009 - 8:53pm #

The throw to the fullback about made me cream my pants.

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 8:54pm #

pretty good, i'm in kyushu so it's still way too hot but it seems like summer is about to release its death grip sometime soon. also there's a chick from dublin over here so i improbably have someone to watch OSU games with. except this week, i hate you BTN

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 8:56pm #

Why are we leaving guys so wide open on the outs?

Good to hear. I think you can stream games internationally, but I don't believe it's free.

Luke on 3 October 2009 - 9:00pm #

For our fellow Buckeyes abroad, what game tracker are you watching? You don't seem very far behind real time at all.

BuckeyeChief on 3 October 2009 - 9:09pm #

VB Buckeye, where you at?

Joe on 3 October 2009 - 9:09pm #

It was a bad snap that the punter had to go low to field, and by the time he came up with it Rob Rose was inside his shirt.

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 9:09pm #

Gotta be the latter. Sounds like a Partisan Buckeye crowd.

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 9:10pm #

Botched snap, resulting in Rob Rose helping the Indiana punter look for a contact that no one lost in the Memorial Stadium end zone.

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 9:14pm #

buckeye in athens on 3 October 2009 - 9:15pm #

Chappell is turning into the Toledo QB with all those throw-aways.

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 9:18pm #

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 9:18pm #

Speedy Spitz!

Luke on 3 October 2009 - 9:18pm #

Austin Spitler is SOOOO slow. He could never reach the quarterback blitzing from the weak side.

flipbuckeye on 3 October 2009 - 9:18pm #

LOL no, Boom caught a throw away pass on the sidelines.

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 9:18pm #

maybe not

Nik on 3 October 2009 - 9:19pm #

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 9:21pm #

Mason finally catching up with me on the golf references.

NorCal Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 9:25pm #

Indiana almost beat scUM? Man, hopefully this is a decent benchmark against us and TTUN, at this point in the season at least.

I loved watching Tate Forcier almost die while having to actually run during plays at the end of the 4th quarter today. He always looks like he just got beat up. Sissy. ESPN best stop talking about him as a Heisman candidate.

spencer096 on 3 October 2009 - 9:25pm #

thank god IU's offense is so putrid otherwise this might be a lot closer.

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 9:25pm #

Eh, we're passing it up 19 late in the third. Pryor just isn't executing.

Joe on 3 October 2009 - 9:26pm #

BTW, where's "Hoosier Hal"? I want to know how he feels about his "three best players on the field are hoosiers" comment now.

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 9:26pm #

well our defense is pretty good too

Nik on 3 October 2009 - 9:26pm #

agreed, we're looking really bad out there on defense =/

spencer096 on 3 October 2009 - 9:26pm #

he's either a midget who's going to get killed by bigger players or the biggest drama queen ever.

either way, i hope nothing good happens for that d-bag...ever.

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 9:27pm #

Pryor does have the three touchdowns, but he's had some really off throws. He's made better running decisions tonight, so it's helping to offset the passes, but he still has some work to do.

Nik on 3 October 2009 - 9:27pm #

i disagree, our defense is not looking nearly as good as normal today

flipbuckeye on 3 October 2009 - 9:27pm #

Come on let's get Saine his 100 yards... he's at 93 right now on 13 carries. Good for 7.2 YPC.

Luke on 3 October 2009 - 9:27pm #

PRYOR IS SLOW BUT INDIANA IS SLOWER LMAO

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 9:27pm #

Did anyone hear what Mason said about Tressel/Hazell and playcalling?

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 9:28pm #

indiana has 7 points and under 200 total yards, we're doing fine

spencer096 on 3 October 2009 - 9:28pm #

well yea...still isn't any less frsutrating.

NorCal Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 9:28pm #

Except Tebow has proven himself (I hate to say it). Forcier hasn't done anything yet, just has a ton of d-bags from m!ch!g@n love to blog about him doing something. They're soo desperate.

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 9:29pm #

Rob Rose again!

Nik on 3 October 2009 - 9:29pm #

no, what did he say?

flipbuckeye on 3 October 2009 - 9:30pm #

Something about how it looked like it was all Hazell, and JT didn't even say anything at one point... I think that's what I heard.

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 9:30pm #

Yeah... I hate to say it too. I hate that guy!

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 9:30pm #

Is it me or does Small seek out the nearest cloud of opposing players?

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 9:30pm #

tate is also about 50 pounds lighter than tebow, if he were a slot receiver instead of a qb he'd have transferred to rice by now

Luke on 3 October 2009 - 9:30pm #

Just now? I can't say that I was paying attention but he mentioned earlier that he hadn't seen Tressel talk into his headset an entire drive, leading him to believe Hazell was the principle playcaller.

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 9:31pm #

Cool, thanks. I kind of thought that's what he said, but wasn't paying that much attention at the time.

Nik on 3 October 2009 - 9:31pm #

wow, sounds like good news

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 9:32pm #

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 9:32pm #

NorCal Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 9:37pm #

The game down the street from me isn't nearly as good as hoped; Cal is getting shutout 20-0 before the half.

Cal's laying their second egg in two weeks.

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 9:38pm #

Thank goodness USC is up big on Cal. I was beginning to seriously question that game (USC-OSU). Barkley with ~200yds in 1st half.

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 9:39pm #

cal is almost as big a tease as oregon is, they look great for 2-5 games every year, and then never fail to fall apart midseason

spencer096 on 3 October 2009 - 9:39pm #

when did nathan williams get all inked up?

spencer096 on 3 October 2009 - 9:40pm #

i swear...i don't remember all those tats last year.

i could be retarded tho...wouldn't be the first time.

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 9:41pm #

I'm happy we're gonna win (obviously) but a third straight shutout woulda looked good...

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 9:41pm #

Nothing sells queso like Ron Jeremy's stunt double

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 9:42pm #

USC had their one loss to a crappy team, now they're gonna run the table...I hope, so we look good?

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 9:43pm #

I agree. Unless something spectacular happens late, it's going to be a long week until Wisconsin. Nothing too memorable or overly encouraging from the game.

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 9:44pm #

Little surprised Pryor is still in. And throwing.

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 9:44pm #

Are these announcers still watching the game? Every flag they seem totally baffled. Even I was yelling "face mask".

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 9:45pm #

Evil Tressel?

dave on 3 October 2009 - 9:45pm #

To be fair those flags are late late late.

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 9:45pm #

10 minutes left, up four touchdowns, still passing. Evil Tressel remains.

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 9:45pm #

That or Evil Hazell.

Nik on 3 October 2009 - 9:45pm #

hahaha, glen mason was looking at the other announcer like he was a big juicy steak

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 9:46pm #

I'm not sure I like the confidence Pryor's getting from these hopeless lobs. Those are going to get picked eventually.

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 9:46pm #

I was hoping to see the playbook open up and Pryor actually pass... he's running a whole lot better now, but still!

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 9:46pm #

this should be pryor's last drive, indiana hasn't moved the ball at all in the second half and isn't gonna get back in this

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 9:46pm #

Hmm...

spencer096 on 3 October 2009 - 9:47pm #

flash sighting on offense.

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 9:48pm #

Agreed... against anyone other than Indiana=Pick 6!

Jason on 3 October 2009 - 9:48pm #

Anderson Russell, for the vindication.

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 9:48pm #

Guys - I think all the passing may be a reflection of how banged up the RBs are more than anything. Just a guess.

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 9:48pm #

This is crazy. Tressel is hella pissed.

spencer096 on 3 October 2009 - 9:49pm #

meh...seems like a glorified practice session.

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 9:49pm #

NorCal Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 9:50pm #

Nik on 3 October 2009 - 9:51pm #

The (deserved) post-USC criticism, I'll wager

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 9:52pm #

or maybe he's got really bad OCD and can't stand that we have so many more rushing yards than passing yards

spencer096 on 3 October 2009 - 9:52pm #

pretty sh!tty practice session...

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 9:52pm #

Luke on 3 October 2009 - 9:57pm #

Isn't Diet Coke the Diet Coke of evil?

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 9:57pm #

Uh, he did. Prior to that last pick and a few of those arm punts, I'd say he was solid. More so than he was against, say, USC.

NorCal Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 9:58pm #

Sorry, but all TP's "work" is not showing, and his mental choices are horrible. A raw athlete can dominate in high school ball, definately not in D1 college ball. Welcome to the ups and downs of the rollercoaster ride of TP. This ride will be over about 2 years.

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 9:59pm #

I'll have to look at the replay with an open mind. Maybe I'm just persuaded by the cardiac conditions some of his scrambles and throws give me.

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 10:00pm #

chill out dude, pryor threw 3 tds, was 16/27 for 159 yds, and rushed for 69 yards. maybe not the best game in the world, but certainly nothing horrible or even merely bad

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 10:00pm #

Yeah, I understand. I'd say he made 5 or 6 truly bad decisions, compared to eleventy billion against USC

NorCal Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 10:01pm #

Hey guys, we should totally but Bauserman in. Mop up duty is safe, right? (not on a delay, I did see that)

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 10:02pm #

Someone's fishing for a Jack Tatum award.

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 10:02pm #

Again, I'm being sarcastic, but seriously in a big game Pryor will need to step up! I know he'll get there and he's still "new" at this...

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 10:04pm #

He's now fumbled 1/25th as many snaps as Michigan's QBs have

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 10:04pm #

Well, he's no Brady Quinn, but Pryor is certainly gonna get better! Sorry... I went there. I keeed, I keeed!

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 10:04pm #

hahaha

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 10:05pm #

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 10:07pm #

BuckNasty on 3 October 2009 - 10:07pm #

2. Our offense is, to put it nicely, average.

3. Why the hell do we waste great talent like Klein, Sabino, and Sweat, to play a guy who is only starting due to tenure? The next two years are what this team was built for, why not play the guys who will be there?

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 10:08pm #

Not as weak as Michi(you know who's) win! No referee needed...

VB Buckeye on 3 October 2009 - 10:09pm #

iball on 3 October 2009 - 10:10pm #

Good thing our recruits outrank IU's by at least 50 spots, because that was an ugly win.

bup bup bup on 3 October 2009 - 10:11pm #

anyway, that certainly was a game against indiana. i feel like i could watch any of the games from the last 5 years against them and gotten the same experience

Sam on 3 October 2009 - 10:11pm #

Spitler hasn't been actively terrible; thus, I'm alright with him starting. If/when he gets toasted by Stephfphfphfon Green, I'm open to his replacement. Until then, I don't want to develop a rep for benching solid seniors.

BuckeyeChief on 3 October 2009 - 10:12pm #

I know, I couldn't believe it when I saw it was him. Looks like Geiger made the right call on that one. We all know playing at OSU doesn't automatically mean you are a word wiz.

I think Storm Klein is twice the player Spitler is, and probably Sabino too. But who would know? We haven't seen them. And where is Berry? I know he was hurt, but he looked ready to go. Our run game needs a shot in the arm.

Shugarts looked like garbage

We gave up one sack, didn't we?

Couldn't have been too terrible.

He said nothing of relevance until Denlinger's int, when he said, "how'd he miss that guy?"

And if he repeated the phrase, "giving Ohio St a dose of their own medicine!", one more time, I was gonna hurl.

I had to turn on Paul Kiels.

Shugarts does not looked fired up, alot of guys don't look fired up.

It was nice to see Duran throw that awesome crack back, don't think I've seen that from an OSU receiver since Boston.

Actually, Hartline threw a devastating block at Iowa a few years back. Might have been the best play of his career.

This is what Im sayin, how does a coach owe anyone on a team? Truth is all thes guys are of equal talent, despite their star ranking out of HS. Give me the guys who want to play fired up, and who want to hurt somebody. That is the team who wins a championship.

True.

A lot of that game was hot and cold. Good thing we have some medium-strength games for a bit. Looks like the coaches are moving in the right direction in play calling though. At this point though, it seems like most of TP's behavior is engrained and not a matter of "a work in progress". I can't buy into the "it's his 2nd season", he's had a TON of personal attention and coaching since the day he arrived which Vince Young and Troy Smith did not have. He's an athlete, not a truebred QB. O well, I love his passion and intensity; that isn't taught or coached.

I have defended TP quite a bit, but he is making it harder and harder to do.

He did the same exact thing in the Under Armour All Star Game to Tom Wort (Oklahoma). I freakin' love it!
