It was great to see Russell bounce back against the Hoosiers and even better to see him recognized for doing so. Thoma continues to dominate the special teams accolades, but, unfortunately, the Tatum was not awarded again.
Safety Anderson Russell was the Buckeyes’ defensive player of the week, with six tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery. Punter Jon Thoma, who downed three punts inside the 20, was the player of the week on the special units. Tailback Brandon Saine was the offensive players of the week, rushing for 113 yards.
The “Attack Force” award went to linebacker Austin Spitler. Bryant Browning was the Jim Parker lineman of the week. The Jack Tatum Big Hit of the week has not been decided.
Scout team champions were: Offense: James Georgiades; Defense: Jamie Wood; Special Units:Ryan Schuck.

Carter got robbed
Yeah. I must not fully understand what the Tatum Award is for.
yeah he did. Even the Big 10 network picked it up.
..and thats saying a lot.
Definitely. Is there a tressel-imposed rule that the tatum award must come from a defensive player?
Actually, I guess there is a rule about it being for a defensive hit. From coachtressel.com:
In 2001, Jim Tressel instituted the "Jack Tatum Hit of the Week Award," given to the player who had the most impressive defensive hit of the game.
Carter for sure, there was a couple of big hits he can hang his hat on! This isn't the first time he's been noticed for blocking, Duron is a valuable WR not only for his hands..! I just hope our other receivers pick up on being useful even though they might not have been thrown to!
Didn't Teddy Ginn Jr. get a Jack Tatum award a few years back?
JT-
Why have an awesome award if you refuse to award it?! Food for thought
Isn't blocking actually "DEFENDING" one of your players?
I think this calls for a weekly 11W "awesomeness" award.
Dexter Larimore’s injury???
He's hurt
How is the DC hit not on Youtube yet?
Talking to some of the BSB writers on Twitter and they are convinced the award can go to offensive players despite what's on JT's website. Someone needs to follow-up on this at tomorrow's presser.
Do you happen to remember when the block occurred? I could put it up tonight if I can find the play pretty quickly.
Had to be in mid-4th quarter. I think on the drive where we nearly scored, then Pryor took a huge sack and and then tossed his pick on 3rd and long, so that would have been second to last drive before Bauserman fumbled.
7:16 in the 3rd Quarter or there abouts. There is a real crappy version of it out on the internets right now.
Have a look back but I'm very confident that Harline won the award for a great hit against Indiana on a kickoff.
It is, but the quality is terrible -- video taped off of someone's TV

Braylon Edwards is finito. Maybe the Bengals will pick him up!
Is that legit tho? Or are you rumor mongoring? Neither would suprise me kid LOL
Suppose the Buckeyes run the table - its possible - lets say we are sitting at 2 maybe 3 in the polls. You all know whats going to happen - we will get screwed. the voting will not go our way because of the past two national championship failures. It is possible for lsu to beat florida. then lsu to play florida again in the sec title game. I know its early in the season and there are many games to be played but I just see us getting screwed by the voters. I would take a rematch with lsu or florida - at the moment I like our confidence but we still haven't really played anyone - I know usc but.
After arousing myself last night by watching the DC hit about 50 times I'd like to propose the establishment of the "Out of Hound Hit of the Week" and the first award winner should be Duron Carter.
