Looks like the rumors were true and the both might be academic casualties. Oh, Tyler Moeller is at the University Medical Center with an undisclosed head injury (with a rumor flying as to the cause). Fun!

Tyler Moeller not there either as he has suffered some sort of head injury....enter Brian Rolle....I hope Tyler comes back, but there is no firm report that he will or will not make it back for camp
THIS JUST IN: TRESSEL GIVES PRYOR A FLATSCREEN TV IN ORDER TO GET HIM TO REPORT TO CAMP. O$U, INDEED.

I believe they are not allowed to report until the academics are cleared up.
Yeah, but when does that window close? I thought I heard today that if the two weren't part of the 105 reporting to camp, they couldn't play in the opener.
I heard the same rumor about Moeller getting sucker punched at a bar in Florida, said he was out for the season. That sucks if it's true, but Hines/Sabino/Rolle should fill in the hole. Wish him the best.
Helwagen seems to imply there's a chance Moeller could be out for the year:

We do have talent to fill in, but this is a huge loss for blitzing scenarios. Some guys blitz better than anything else they do on the field and I think Moeller was one of those guys.
No question Jason, Moeller showed that he is one hell of a blitzer and a great OLB that is needed against spread teams. As you said, if there is an area we could afford the loss it's at LB when you think of talent, but I think his "style" is something that will be hard to get over....
From what I'm hearing, as of now, it's something where he'll be out the first 4-6 weeks... If that's true, then I could see him getting back on the field if it's closer to 4 weeks; however, I'd have to believe that if it was closer to the 6 week mark, then I would expect to see a RS for Moeller in 2009.
Um, sorry, this is a joke, right?
I wish all three the best, but Im not ready to call it a season yet. I cant be happier to know that Brian Rolle and Etienne Sabino are ready to fill in.
Has anyone heard anything on Dorian Bell? He was the "cant miss" gem of the class, and I never hear his name mentioned. I know he wasn't at spring practice, but you have to think he will be in the mix. Im just not excited about Homan and Spitler. I especially think Spitler better bring more than just a fifth year senior status if he wants to start.
If this is true, can we propose legislation to ban the state of Florida from the United States? They are a cancer to our football team, both on and off the field. I'm enraged at the possibility that he got sucker-punched in a bar by one of their d-bag fans.
Bell looks like a senior in the pics as he checked in today
More on Moeller's injury and more pointing to the fact he could be lost for '09:

Look at his face, it's like he already knows the pass-rusher defensive ends are going to blow right past him if they keep him at right tackle, and he's resigned to his fate.

Please tell me that everyone got to enjoy A.J. run for a Touchdown in the Hall of Fame game on the opening drive! That was fan-freakin'-tasic!
AJ Trapasso just turned in the special teams play of the year for the NFL.
That was fantastic. But why use it in August?
I know Rich Rod and Michigan in the past (Don't know if they will continue with the rule change around Punters leaving the box) roll the punter outside like a Rugby Kicker to keep teams closer to the line of scrimmage to not give up the fake.
Not only does it allow you to pull of the fake, but with them forcing the team to play closer to the line it allows your coverage to get to the KR a little clearner...Maybe with Tenn. having a more athletic Punter they are trying to show the rest of the league that they always have that option - Not so much for the fake, but just to keep the coverage team closer to the line to try and reduce the punt return yards?
Maybe over thinking that, but it was still sweet as hell!
yeah, the guy peeling off the line caused me to wonder for a second....and then bam, a fake punt. the defenders had a shot at trapasso too but they went right by him. this past week, in keeping with this game between the bills and oilers, the nfl network showed the 2000 afc championship game.....the one where the titans pulled off the kickoff return for the game winning touchdown.
now this fake punt, compared to boise state's "statue of liberty", wasn't as important as it was pulled off in a meaningless playoff game. however, i thought the degree of difficulty (a punter taking it to the house) was better than boise state.
The skill with which he hid the ball was amazing, too. Completely fooled them.
Trapasso is playing lights out. He's had the fake, several big punts (one of which was fumbled - can he take credit for that?) and made the tackle on the one long return they've managed against him. You don't normally hear the rookie punter's name that often in an NFL game.
he thinks there's houndies in the preseason too
There isn't? I think we need preseason houndies! Just because it's awesome to see punters win awards.
The AJ Touchdown. Where was this when he was wearing scarlet and gray?

Very cool it got to happen for him in Canton, to boot.
