Buckeyes Add 2011 Star and Other Late Night Musings

The Buckeyes picked up their first verbal commitment of the class of 2011, as Kenny Hayes, a defensive end from Toledo Whitmer pulled the trigger tonight, a day before offers can be sent in writing to current juniors.

Hayes (6-5, 255) has great size for a junior and can continue to grow into his large frame over the next two years before he makes it to Columbus. He is a consensus top five player in the state for his class and possesses great pass rushing skills. He also had an offer from Illinois, but chose the home state team and helps Jim Tressel begin his quest for another top recruiting class in 2011.

In Other News... USC projected starting corner back, Shareece Wright, has been ruled academically ineligible and will not be able to play this fall for the Trojans. Of course this puts even more pressure on the Bucks and gives USC even more excuses should OSU win the game on September 12. Josh Pinkard will move from safety to corner and Will Harris will take over Pinkard's safety position to fill the void to start the season. Stay tuned for more as the drama is sure to continue before Matt Barkley and the boys from Cali make it to The 'Shoe.

Nice to see a Buckeye victory with Whitmer after Kroeger chose the Maize and Blue.

Shock-G on 1 September 2009 - 12:53am.

I'll see Hayes this year and can't wait to watch him. Also, kind of expect Kyle Cameron of Toledo Central Catholic to get serious Buckeye consideration (2011 prospect). I don't know for sure if he'll receive Ohio State consideration, but the center and long snapper for Central has a letter from Marshall and is rated the #6 LS in the nation.

Buckeyeholicwompa on 1 September 2009 - 1:49am.

I don't care how many Trojan men go down whether due to injury or academic issues, I just wanna smack the crap outa them on the field when they get here in 2 weeks!!!!

O-H!

Safarisearch on 1 September 2009 - 2:31am.

shock-G, i think you're kyle cameron. come on, you're a long snapper, you're necessary for a team, but do not belong in the same conversation as a defensive end

PG on 1 September 2009 - 3:43am.

I could care less if they lost their entire first unit. A win is a win, and I'll gladly take that any day even if it means I have to listen to Mark May and the other ESPN haters clown on us and make excuses for USC.

Michael on 1 September 2009 - 3:58am.

So that brings the count to 5? Corp, Rojo, Armstead, O'Dowd and now Wright?

There's a quarter of their projected starters out for at least the first game against SJSU.

Bucksfan on 1 September 2009 - 4:27am.

I didn't hear shit about Beanie from the analysts when they throttled us last season, so fuck 'em. If they really do have the depth that they claim, then there are no excuses.

BuckeyeChief on 1 September 2009 - 6:30am.

exactly.

Morgan on 1 September 2009 - 9:06am.

heck to the yes.

Duran on 1 September 2009 - 9:07am.

right on....

Only one way to get respect...

That is win, win, win, win, and more wins....

Wouldn't hurt to just pound the crap out of them, like 52 - 14.

PALM BEACH BUCKEYE on 1 September 2009 - 9:10am.

...there are no excuses..... winning is winning and losing is losing.

Shock-G on 1 September 2009 - 9:25am.

Actually Kyle Cameron is the starting LT and a beast; he had a verbal offer from Fulmer while he was still at Tennessee, so expect him to continue to get big time offers. Mike Zenk is the starting center and long snapper for Central (same school that produced Dane Sanzenbacher). He is the one who is the #6 LS in the nation and I'm going to guess his play at center may earn him some attention too. Although, knowing what I know about recruiting, the fact that he's a top notch LS will automatically get him some FBS looks as a center as well. I'll watch these two face off against Hayes on October 16 at Whitmer, about 5 miles south of where I live is what I was saying.

PALM BEACH BUCKEYE on 1 September 2009 - 10:07am.

never heard anyone talk about how OSU did not have Teddy Ginn vs Florida..... or Beanie vs USC ... or a Practiced Troy Smith vs Texas in 2005....... or Beanie in the 2nd Half of the Fiesta bowl last year....

tough shit, deal with it and move in. Bottom line is that to be an elite team you have to win with the cards you are dealt.

Duran on 1 September 2009 - 10:11am.

So, back on this kid Kenny Hayes.

Is he a stud or what?

Haven't heard anything about him!

Also, anyone going to the game on Saturday, me and the wife are driving over from indianpolis got tickets in section 37aa. It is her first Ohio State Game.
Any suggestions on places to go before the game?

ChiefNiko on 1 September 2009 - 10:16am.

Skull Session is always a great tradition before a game.

BuckeyeSki on 1 September 2009 - 10:23am.

I-O!!!!!

Duran on 1 September 2009 - 10:23am.

yeah, i saw that online... It's free right? Starts at 10:00am.

37aa section i guess that is pretty good she asked if we were close to the
field? Plus, going to be in the student section side it should be rowdy
enough for her right? LOL!!!

Also, i live in Indy! So taking 70 west back after the game, was thinking
parking in the city center taking the bus over to the game.

Wise decison ? Or is there a better plan that gets me closer to freeway?

Bobby on 1 September 2009 - 10:34am.

Read on a post on Bucknuts from an SC fan that O'Dowd is a probable starter.

Shock-G on 1 September 2009 - 10:40am.

Kurelic has him as the #3 guy in Ohio for 2011. I will keep tabs on him throughout the season and see what I think as I am only a few miles away from his HS. Right now he seems as he's got great size to be a rush end but I hear he has the frame to bulk up and be more of a Heyward than a Gibson.

I'll be at the game Saturday, myself, in Section 1C. Skull Session is a must if you've never gone. Also, I enjoy walking through Buckeye Grove and seeing the names of the All-Americans, it's located behind the southwest corner of the stadium. I'd also recommend taking a stroll down Lane Avenue prior to the game and stop in at the new Hineygate if you feel up to it (I'm curious to see how it will be this year at the new location and sans the Danger Brothers)

dude on 1 September 2009 - 11:07am.

skull session is great, be there at 9:30 to get a decent seat.

Duran on 1 September 2009 - 11:24am.

Thanks for the info!

Will diff be down lane ave.

Buckeye Grove also sounds interesting.

Thanks....

Alex on 1 September 2009 - 11:31am.

Duran,

if you want you can park at some fraternity houses on 15th ave for 10-20 bucks and hop right on summit st to 670W (which becomes 70W)...it's very accessible, affordable, and a 15 minute walk to The 'Shoe....I know a few that sell their lots so if you're interested e-mail me at alex@elevenwarriors.com

iball on 1 September 2009 - 12:51pm.

Hayes has to be a no doubter if he can get an early offer as a junior. I love that we keep adding d-line, its the most important unit on the field, IMO.

Alex, speaking of o-line, did you watch DT Adam Cole of Pick. Central the other day? He's only a soph, but he is 6'2 300. Do you think he could be the 300 pound plugger that everyone is clamoring for, or do you think Tress recruits leaner, more athletic DT's by design?

Brian on 1 September 2009 - 1:39pm.

I thought about this, and I really don't care if they have excuses or not, if we beat them and they go on to win their conference and only lose 1 more, or 0 games, that makes our srenth of schedule better, and just makes the BCS rating that much better. So go ahead and clamour and make excuses, if we win that one, and they keep winning, it's only good news for the Bucks and who cares what the rest think. I just hope there are no let down games like an Illinois this year. I would hate to beat USC, and Penn State, but have Illinois pull a fast one on us.

RBuck on 1 September 2009 - 2:26pm.

Be carefull that they don't start tearing down City Center when you're parked there.
