Big Ten Media Days Water Cooler

Coleman's Day Off

Big Ten Network live coverage begins at 10am. If you fall into the larger group of people that cannot watch television in the middle of a Monday morning, the net’s website should have video and photos and this meager virtual water cooler is available to you.

We’ll be chiming in on the live blog below as well as on the twitterwebs.

Breaking News from Big Ten Media Days:

-OSU has been voted as Pre-Season Favorites to win Big Ten, PSU voted Second, and MSU voted third
-Terrelle Pryor has been voted Pre-Season Offensive Player of the Year and MSU’s Greg Jones has been voted Defensive Player of the Year

  2. PALM BEACH BUCKEYE says:

first, let’s beat Navy and USC… then we talk about the rest of the season!

  3. BuckeyeSki says:

The PSU kids are crying already over the Pryor pick….

    “Waaaaaaahhhh!”

    • jfunk says:

They’re still nowhere near as bad as all the SECOND folk throwing fits over someone have the nerve to not vote for Tebow…… Although some of the PSU whining I saw did have the potential to reach that level….

      • jfunk says:

Stupid Blackberry spell check…. SEC folk, not second.

        • Brian says:

Not only was it the SEC folk, but ESPN and every other media outlet that worships the ground Tebow walks on. I knew it was going to be Spurier and I’m not buying the accident exuces either. When Danny Wuerffel won the Heisman, didn’t Spurrier kind of cheer against him? I seem to remember him not being all that excited about his own QB winning the award.

    • BuckeyeSki says:

Nice…my comment made it as the header for Good Shizzy

PS….Pat Devlin beat us as their QB, not Clark. As I remember the game, Clark was on the sidelines counting fingers like a little bitch…….

      • iball says:

yes, ski, yes, tell it brother!

      • Anonymous Hero says:

Your point about Devlin is useless.

Neither Pat Devlin nor Daryll Clark was the quarterback responsible for Ohio State’s loss to Penn State.

        Terrelle Pryor was.

  4. Gobrutus says:

WHERE did Bielema say he had that Iowa tattoo?!?

  5. BuckeyeJoe says:

Hopefully we will find out this week whether or not TP is a virgin!

    • BuckeyeSki says:

please….that kid is taking FULL advantage of his superstar status @ tOSU

      • Brian says:

Do you honestly think Tebow is? C’mon, he’s a great guy and everything, but he’s shown that WWJD doesn’t carry over to the football field, why should it carry over to rock star parties with horny sorority girls and strippers. Not to mention the girlfriend lol.

  6. Bucksfan says:

Tressel just denied there being an inferiority complex across the Big Ten (btw, the question was asked by a dirtbag southerner, twang and all).

  7. Brian says:

They make it sound like the Big 10 was as bad as the MAC or Sunbelt. I thought most of the media outlets had Big 10 as the number 3 conference last year. I know they didn’t preform well in the bowls but bowl games aren’t the only measuring stick for what kind of season the whole conference had, Not to mention 3 of the bowl games that were lost, were close.

  8. GoBucks57 says:

BSD is the biggest bunch of crybabies ever.

    • HD says:

      LOL, 1000% agree GB57.

The posts at BSD are pathetic!

I’ve had some run ins with them recently and there were like 125+ crybaby comments in just a few hours.

      Go Bucks, psu/BSD SUCKS!

      • Poe McKnoe says:

Man, I feel like I should buy something after reading your post. Weren’t you the blog that accused Eleven Warriors of stealing?

        • HD says:

          Buy something?

          Sure if you’d like I guess…..

11W and BlockO had a misunderstanding a few months back and you don’t know the details of it but Alex and the guys here and myself put that to bed a long time ago to my knowledge and I apologized to them for the situation.

We are all Buckeye fans here so can we please act like it Poe?

Translated: I posted a laughable post at Bleacher Report and said laughable article was destroyed by BSD. Now I’m bitter.

        • HD says:

Actually, what’s laughable is a PSU fan coming to 11W and calling me bitter.

Why is it that you’re here again?

Oh right, the whole OSU/Pryor picked over PSU/Clark thing…

          Anonymous hero not so much….

          More like anonymous douchebag!

    • bup bup bup says:

i’m gonna start my own blog! with blackjack! and hookers!

in fact, forget the blackjack and hookers!

      aaahhhh screw the whole thing

  9. Ryan B. says:

You think the media is trying to tell Tressel something by naming Pryor the preseason OPOY? Unleash the beast Jimmy T.!

  10. Jason says:

I’ll have audio and video up later, but one thing that stuck out to me was Tressel being asked if he would allow a soph to be captain. He was very non-committal on this one.

  11. Dean says:

Anyone see this gem from Paterno?

“Our quarterbacks coach, Jay Paterno two years ago wanted me play Clark more. I thought it would discourage the kid we were using (Anthony Morelli). I thought (Morelli) had the potential to be good, and I blew that one.”

Ouch, poor Anthony Morelli. Way to stand behind your guys, Coach.

    http://blog.dispatch.com/buckeyesblog/2009/07/paterno_feeling_good.shtml

    • Brian says:

You know, I really don’t have a problem with that. It wouldn’t have shocked me to hear Cooper say something like that after Austin Moherman. Tressel may not have been so honest about Justin Zwick, and that’s just his personality, but Morelli isn’t on the team anymore is he? I just don’t see it being that bad.

      • BuckeyeSki says:

I loved Morelli….he gift-wrapped wins like Santa Claus does

      • Dean says:

Fair enough – Morelli wasn’t so great. It just strikes me as less than classy to say that a guy you coached for four years, and presumably had some sort of mentor relationship with, sucked. Heck, you don’t (usually) even see pro coaches saying that about past players, because there’s really no point to it — and it would make more sense to criticize a past player in the professional context where the team was paying the guy who sucked. Here, it’s just adding insult to injury by reminding everyone of a failed college football career and unrealized potential.

        • Anonymous says:

“had some sort of mentor relationship with, sucked”

It sounds to me like his comments is that his son wanted to play Clark instead of Morelli in ‘07, and Joe is admitting he “kind of blew [it]” by not allowing Clark to replace Morelli, which isn’t saying Morelli sucked necessarily, just that in hindsight it would have made more sense to put in the kid that became 1st team Big Ten in his first year of starting instead of sticking with something that wasn’t working.

  12. iball says:

I just got off work and i fell like I woke up late and missed christmas, next year Im taking the day off.

    • iball says:

This may be sacrilidge, but I hope scUM whips Notre Dame’s pansy asses.

Also, all this talk about PSU and USC is fine, but Im telling you right now, our boys better be ready when the Illini come to town. I got a feeling they’ll be a force this year. I also hope they crush PSU and bring those have-nots back down to earth.

      Come on September.

      • BuckeyeStuckintheSouth says:

um over notre dame by 10 – big house will be rocking and you can say goodbye to charlie

  13. BuckeyeStuckintheSouth says:

Proyer will not be a captain. He will be a leader in the huddle where its more important. While in Ohio recently went to the Pro Football Hall of Fame – awesome. Anyone been to the college football hall of fame in South Bend?

    • HD says:

I was there in South Bend in 2003 BuckeyeStuckintheSouth.

Went to see Marino but also met Kellen Winslow Sr, Ronnie Lott and Earle Bruce!!!

  14. Poe McKnoe says:

    Poe McKnoe’s Most Hated Fanbases
    1. Michigan – You know the story.

    2. Penn State – Quickly moving up the list with their Ohio State obsession. Apparently a 13-6 win on a fumble makes you OMG LOL !!!@111!!!1! the best team in the Big Ten. There’s a load of sheise on Black Shoe Diaries. I prefer reading MGoBlog, yes, over a PSU blog.

    3. Florida (the time has weakened the hate)

    4. SEC – SEC SEC SEC Georgia got ass raped by Bama AT HOME and Bama got destroyed by Utah, LSU almost lost to Troy, but SEC SEC

    • iball says:

Realistically speaking, if PSU happens to win this year, and they could because they will have a nice group of seniors, then they wont have a shot at winning again for 2 to 3 more years. The fans can’t accept the fact that their coach cant recruit with our coach.

As for Florida, its a case of a few bad apples ruining the bunch. I actually have alot of respect for Tebow and Meyer. Tebow is a true leader who any fan would like on their team, and Meyer is one of the most influential coaches of this era. Many coaches run a spread type offense, but Meyer’s is truly one of a kind. Plus, he’s an Ohio guy, so he’s naturally brilliant.

      • Bucksfan says:

Florida has had more arrests than any other team since Meyer has been there.

The hate will never subside for me. I will never forget what happened that day or this big game tailspin it has produced.

    • bup bup bup says:

replace florida fans with notre dame fans and you’ve got my list exactly.

bup bup bup’s most liked fanbases (aside from OSU):

      1. iowa
      2. nebraska
      3. texas

classy and rabid. that’s how you do it.

      • Poe McKnoe says:

Don’t know a lot about Iowa and Nebraska, but TEXAS fans have always been awesome…a lot like Buckeye fans. Most are realistic, care more about their team than ragging on other teams, and are knowledgeable about football.

        • bup bup bup says:

nothing but respek knuckles for iowa fans. friendly as hell, some of the best tailgaters in the nation, travel well. same goes for nebraska fans, and they also seemed to pull off the nearly impossible feat of not being insufferable when their team was whomping on everyone else in the nation

    • Mike says:

I read MGoBlog because for the last year they’ve been ripping on Michigan even better than we have :) Their recap of the OSU game was *hilarious*.

  15. Buckeyeholicwompa says:

I can’t believe the footballs season is right around the corner already. It seems like it was just yesterday I was at the spring game (what looked like trash alley because of the lack of people putting trash in trash bins and wind). Last week of July and August is right around the corner!

  16. Luckybuck says:

Best part of Media day was Joe Paterno calling Twitter “Tweetledee” and Tweetledoo”. LMAO…..

Worst part was Purdue’s Danny Hope. If it wasn’t for 11W’s live chat, I would’ve fallen asleep and missed JT talk.

Tim May of the C-Bus Dispatch has a man crush with the SEC with every single question about the SEC.

I guess no one had the stones to ask JT about Berry’s availability this season.

    • Jason says:

It’s in the newest post, but Tressel said Berry’s situation wouldn’t impact his playing time. Or at least he said something that seemed to imply that.
