The Bulldogs had three touchdowns and a field goal including an eight run first inning to hand Ohio State a defeat in the opening round of the NCAA baseball tournament.
Next up, a matchup with Marist (who was also pounded in opening round play, though not as roughly by Florida State) Saturday at noon in a bid to work their way back into it.
S-E-C! S-E-C! S-E-C!

Well who didn't see that coming? Ok it was a little worse than expected but I never thought they would beat Georgia. I have no problem admitting that the SEC owns us in baseball.
Nor-thern base-ball! (clap... clap... clap, clap, clap) Nor-thern base-ball! (clap... clap... clap, clap, clap)
Gotta bow up Buckeyes!
Heck of an opening round draw, but I like our chances against Marist. I think the Buckeyes will end up advancing. Go Bucks!
" Drive the ball into left field, oh men of the scarlet and gray!,
Dont let them cross that plate, we've got to win this game today, come on Ohio!"
Oh well I tried.
"S-E-C! S-E-C! S-E-C!"
Jason, if I ever see this written in one of our entries again, I will quit visiting this site.
First off let me say I may never spend another dime in the state of Florida.
Secondly, WTF already?
97 Indians
06 Bucks
09 Cavs
The best we can hope for is ponding the heck out of Miami in 2 years.
ponding=pounding
doing well against Georgia so far after that scary start
i can tell you what the cavs need to do, but i don't know who they should go after.
the center position: get rid of ilgauskas. dude is slow and never makes an impact......does anyone recall him going to the foul line that often against the magic? that spells no aggression, or just plain not getting it done. ilgauskas, you make me ill.
the power forward position: get rid of ben wallace. exactly what is this guy's role again? oh that's right, getting pushed around, duh. i honestly believe he is cross-eyed.....did you see his foul shots? however, his eyes don't look crossed....but still looks can fool. rebounding and defense isn't enough for me....and i bet the chicago bulls, after the trade with the cavs, did a little tongue in cheek after his departure.
as for varejao.....you are second unit, a substitute at best. jalen rose says you bring "energy". all i see is a horrendous shot, and you getting set up beautifully by james to get lay ups. you would come off the bench for me to give the starters a rest and to play a little defense......nothing more.
as for joe smith....you are second unit. don't shoot the ball unless you are within 10 to 15 feet of the basket.
the small forward position: lebron james is the starter and is expected to produce 20 to 40 points per game (which he accomplished in every game against the magic). however, he needs to polish his jump shot and work on a free throw routine. at times he's a little reckless, but i will take it in favor of his productivity.
i don't know who would substitute for lebron. if i wanted size and strength, i would go with darnell jackson (at least give him a chance for evaluation). for scoring and quickness...? i don't know.
the point guard position: let mo williams run the point, and let boobie gibson substitute for him.
the shooting guard position: i would actually let delonte west come off the bench. he would be tremendous for a second unit. fresh legs and he would log more minutes than the entire bench.
as for the starting shooting guard....? i don't know.
time to cut off wally szczerbiak and sasha pavlovic. wally is too slow, and like jalen rose said, a "one trick pony" who doesn't do his one trick well enough. which is shooting by the way....come on, dude, air balls? step into my office.....cause you're fired...and pavlovic looks too indifferent......he's the guy at work who is always asking for his paycheck even though payday is 5 days away. step into my office, sasha....
and for the rest of the scrubs on the bench, you might as well dress in civilian clothes and buy a ticket because you are all close to worthless.
last thing on cleveland. if people expect cleveland to actually go out and buy people....and i have heard irrational calls for amare stoudemire and chris bosh......and yes, even shaquille o'neal........no people, they are not the answer (well, i haven't seen enough of chris bosh, but i wasn't overly impressed with him at beijing....though he was playing with like 15 other super stars.....im just not sold with him). yeah, cleveland won't go out and make the proper trades or acquirements. they are concerned with money and job security. guess what? mission accomplished because they brought in fans to see the cavs and had a winning record. they don't care about titles or rings.....not a city to cheer for, trust me.
as for something osu related. please bring in some competent basketball players and not the highly touted kids who don't give a rats ass about college. i don't know if that is possible, but be keen on who you bring in, matta.
why?
Baseball Buckeyes rallied back to beat Marist yesterday and just got a little revenge against Georgia to stay alive.

They now face host FSU later this afternoon for a chance to advance.
97 Marlins, 06 Gators, 09 Magic. Clear enough?
hahaah oh my God, am i reading this right, 20-0 in the 3rd?!?
sorry baseball bucks, get em next year
aw i didn't realize they had to play earlier today. that makes it more understandable then
at least they knocked out georgia
yeah, we're getting creamed.
So if we were to not get ahold of Bosh or Amare who do you think we should go after? Either of those guys would make a huge difference. We just can't match up with elite teams when Lebron is the only major impact player on our roster on a routine basis.. I love Mo and Delonte but they are streaky.. Two things the cavs need for next year and/or 2010..
1. A dominant big man who is young and not ready to hang it up.
2. A tall athletic gaurd who can hit the outside shot.
These two weaknesses were exposed like Britney's crotch in this series..
We have nobody that can even begin to slow down Superman, and so therefore we double down on him.. leaving any of Orlando's 4 other players on the floor at the time who can shoot the 3 ball to drain it on us.. and when we gaurded their guys on the outside.. we can't match up anyways.. Delonte and Boobie are too short to gaurd guys like Hedo, Pietrus and Lewis.. And Wally, Varejao, and Big Ben and too slow and worn out to gaurd guys like Pietrus, Lewis and Courtney Lee.. its just a nightmare.. They torched us all over the floor with Dwight thrown in the mix and they create match up problems off the pick and roll all night long..
Hands down we just didn't have the right personel. yeah we have chemistry and I loved this team.. but think about how many games they would win without Lebron.. ouch.....
By the way the Poll needs a "depends" section.. cause it definitely depends on who Ferry and the Management bring in.. The deal they signed with the Chinese investors will bring all the Off court ventures he was looking to get into worldwide.. which was one reason for looking at New York as a market in general... Lebron is like the most popular sports figure in China..
okay it's 32-2 in the sixth, at what point do they call a run rule
no mercy rule in the tourney afaik. Otherwise it's after the 7th (or 6.5 if we were batting first)
actually i just read they're ending it after the 7th, thank God
Who knows, maybe we get 30 runs in the bottom of this inning...
lol
welp, looks i don't know nuthin, they're still going in the 8th. geez
wow, 37-6!
you're right, it absolutely was a nightmare match up for the cavs. i agree with you on nearly everything you said. i just wouldn't go for stoudemire or bosh.....tempting.....but i have seen them, man. i believe they would make an impact, too......they are not the pieces that would complete the puzzle.
yes, the tall guard is an issue (i should have said a starting guard who is tall.....who that is i have no clue......is morris peterson any good? i haven't seen the dude in forever....im really reaching, here). however, i would let the point stay as it is. i would only ask for like 10 points out of mo, and if he could get more that would be great....takes the pressure off of him.......i would also only ask for 10 plus points out of my center and some contribution from the power forward.
i got pissed yesterday, but im not down on the baseball team.......i stopped watching when it was 3 to 0 in the first (don't know what happened after that, i believe there was no outs though when i left). seriously though, if you're up by a huge amount, wouldn't you just like stop earning runs and trying to get the game over as fast as possible? like trying to get out to get to the next inning (or force a mercy rule by getting to that inning).
Epic beatdown at the hands of Florida St. I was flying so high after they beat Georgia today and now this?
Troll? I think so...
How so? he was just replying to aaron asking buckeye chief why he might never spend another dime in florida... Seemed pretty innocuous
What the hell did our state ever do to deserve these kinds of beat-downs and let-downs? Does anyone have an answer?
Does anyone know what the Georgia players were saying or doing to the Buckeyes on Friday - the taunting? Typical redneck georgia people - I live in the Atl and they always have something smart to say.
We stole the land from Indians, they cursed us, then in a bit of irony we named one of our most disappointing teams after them.
I'm embarrassed to win by so much. Hey at least you always have BCS berths with major heartbreaks
Not helping.
OH BOY
I don't know why it came up as anon, but it was me...the 97 WS, 06 BCS and 09 Eastern Conf Finals....
OSU 1-2 in BCS Title Games; FSU 1-2 in BCS Title Games...your point? Not like you guys can beat Florida either.
