Beanie is NFL-Bound

Not that this really surprises anyone, but it was fun holding on to that half a percent chance he'd be back.

So, where do you think he'll end up?

Not a surprise. Not a big loss.

Yes, we all expected this but....not a big loss? Please tell me you're kidding.

My guess is he will end up on IR. Oh, you meant what team? That's a crap shoot but he'll be a top 15 pick, no doubt.

Best of luck to Beanie. It's the right time for him to make the move.

Agreed. Hopefully he can get over the injury bug and tear up the league.

With beanie gone why not open up the playbook now? Boom is good, yes, but lets get the ball to our athletes in space and see what they can do - is Flash going to play some offense anytime soon?

Soooo....

Devin Hester was the first NFL player to have a 100 in acceleration in Madden.

Beanie for stiff arm 101?

To finish 4th all-time in rushing yards at Ohio State...not bad. At the same time, I'm glad to see him move to the NFL. He was a beast at times...other times...not sure.

Early on alots of mock drafts had Beanie going to either the Bengals or the Browns... which would be nice for buckeye fans, i could really see him going to the browns with their young team and their need for a RB, but more and more people are talking about going to Arizona.

why have a new "Beast" RB recruit coming in though...

When Beanie is healthy, he should be one of the best backs in the NFL.

Why is the OFFICIAL Buckeyes site asking me if i want to add 4 inches?

I think what he meant was "this was expected, so I've already processed the loss, so it's not a big deal". Because, that's my case as well.

However, if he meant it in another way, then he's loony

I hate people talking down Beanie. He's without a doubt one of the top running backs in OSU history. He put up some epic numbers in Michigan games, and remains the only player who appeared to be trying during the LSU game. The fact that people are letting a few injuries sully his career is disgusting.

Hey, here's a crazy thought, swing the RB out around the line and throw him the ball!! You could call it a SWING PASS!!! BRILLIANT!!!

Also, I heard some teams using their end that lines up tight as an extra receiver too!!

Hey, here's a crazy though: all this shit - screens, play-action, swing passes, etc. - has been getting called the last few seasons, it just isn't working because the offensive line is too busy flopping all over the field.

But don't tell the Norm-Chows-in-waiting around here that.

So where we puttin Beanie?

I got him third best since the 70's, behind Eddie and Archie, big company.

Im taken him ahead of Byars and Smith.

Why doesn't Keith get any love? Byars was a FREAK! He has to be the most underrated player in OSU history!

If not for Keith's foot injury from a pick-up basketball game he might have been our greatest. I think we are splitting hairs on who was the greatest, Archie, Keith, Eddie, Beanie etc. I think Archie has to be number one always...after that it is a toss-up. Injuries/stamina are the only things that held Beanie back from winning a Heisman. (Maybe a poor offensive line too) How many 40+ yard runs did he have in big games? Plenty. Time for a change though. We were great before Beanie and will be great after Beanie.

Beanie will be missed. Question his toughness all you want, but a 50% Beanie is better than any back we have.

I guarantee B10 D-Coordinators are breathing a sigh of relief.

We'll see next year how Pryor does without him. (Better start practicing your passing TPry.)

He was never not a beast. He's the best RB we've had in a generation. Let's show some love.

I put him over Eddie. And I love Eddie. Beanie was faster, and that Stiff Arm of Justice is epic. Eddie had the benefit of a better offense, too.

Keith Byars performance in the 1984 Illinois game was maybe the best athletic performance I have ever seen live. He broke Archie's single game rushing record scored 5 ( I think ) touchdowns, ripped off an epic breakaway run for a touchdown where he lost his shoe, and singlehandedly led the Buckeyes back from a 24-0 deficit to win the game. Honestly, Keith Byars as a junior is as good of a back as I have ever seen. The only thing I can compare him to is the old footage of Jim Brown juking and running over and past 200 pound linebackers and slow defensive backs in films from the early 1960's.

Also, that 1984 Illinois game is the last time the goalposts came down in Ohio Stadium.

The Bengals need an O-lineman, but Mike Brown is still the GM...they'll probably waste their pick on a douchebag receiver or safety or something, or trade to a bad spot. The Browns could definitely use him - Jamal Lewis is pretty much done.

Set your avi
Jimmy T on 9 January 2009 - 9:13am #

I was at that game...one of the best games in college football ever...Keith put the team on his shoulders and got it done. Not that Beanie didn't do that against M last year, but not nearly the competitive game that Illinois was in 84.
Keith was a complete player and completely mezzzzzmorized Ohio Stadium that year. That is the difference between the two. He should have won the Heisman...if it wasn't for the Flutie pass.
