Why Boone Wasn’t Named A Captain
I know Alex Boone takes great pride in being vocal and following in Barton’s footsteps but what in the world was he thinking when he offered up these ridiculous statements?
At least Bollman isn’t just teaching him how to regress as a lineman, he’s also making sure he regresses as an intelligent lifeform.
On Boeckman and the team’s chances of winning:
“I don’t think we missed Beanie at all,” Boone said. “I thought Boom (tailback Dan Herron) played a great game. I thought he ran hard, ran physical. I thought Terrelle did a great job. Todd executed well.
“I thought it was just more of mental errors than missing anybody. I thought we could have easily won that game.“
Then this dazzler on what he thought of the o-line play:
“I thought we did a great job. I thought we did a wonderful job. I thought there was some heat and some silly things. Like I said, it’s all mental, that was the whole game, just mental errors, not doing what the call is telling us to do. Fresh guys were in there, Steve (Rehring) went down, and another kid came in and just messed up a little bit.”
Is he serious?

I have never liked Boone. I don’t know why people think he’s good. Ever since he started playing, the line has sucked ass. I saw it the first year he started, he always screwed up, he always missed blocks, he just plain sucks.
I like what Spielman preached yesterday on 1460, he said hold a scrimmage and tell the players every position is open regardless of being senior or not. I can’t agree with him more, these freshmen have more heart than the seniors! I have to ask, if the seniors were going to stink so bad, why’d they come back? To embarrass us some more?
Boone is an example of this team not understanding that it’s a team effort. It’s not about him or the guy on the other side of the line screwing up. If he screwed up, the team screwed up.
You missed a quote from Boone.
“We really dominated Florida and LSU as well. You guys are overrating blocking the blitzing LB. I always let him go and double the DE instead, it works all the time I never give up sacks that way.”
Jackass needs to shut his mouth and enjoy the second day of the draft unless he turns it around.
This post could alternatively be titled, “Why Boone shouldn’t be a starter”.
The even scarier thing is that if Boone honestly believes this garbage, then it might be because that is what Bollman is telling them. Yeesh!
I actually agree with him about Boom Herron. I thought he played well, and showed some pop in his pads. He’s everything he was promising to be in practice. I’m really excited to see more of him.
This is going to be a TOUGH year, folks. p*nn st*te is coming, and coming quickly. Bucky can pound people (regardless of how poorly they’re game-managed), and Juice Williams is licking his chops knowing that even his team played USC tougher than OSU did.
I can’t imagine how Boone could say these things, unless he was speaking in hyperbole. Could he have been sarcastic?
This is just befuddling. My stomach is now ickier than before. Yuck.
Joe…I agree with you and Boone about Boom. He’s yet to disappoint me. He’s not a Heisman candidate but he his a hard runner, especially for his size.
As I’ve wrote before, I really like how he quickly makes a decision in an effort to get past the line of scrimmage THEN he looks to see what else he can get once he gets to the LB’s versus making the freshman mistake of dancing in the backfield thinking every play needs to be a touchdown.

Could you please be more specific with your insult? That could be almost any university. Oklahoma State, Oregon State, etc……
