Hoops Nugs: Prospects and Pixels Edition

2010 commit Jordan Sibert

I'll give a similar disclaimer as Jason - with the site being down I was forced to put this together in the wee hours of this morning so sorry if my eye boogers cause any grumattikul errors or lack of wit.

Anyway, it seemed like a good time to catch up on a few recent hoops happenings since I know many of you tune out to that side of OSU athletics until closer to tip off.

On the recruiting front, Matta recently picked up two more recruits for the already stacked 2010 class in the form of Lenzelle Smith Jr., a 6'3" guard out of Chicago and Jordan Sibert, another 6'3" guard hailing from Cincinnati Princeton.

Smith is rated the #3 junior in Illinois and chose OSU over Illinois, Kentucky, Virginia and Marquette. He averaged 14 points and 7 boards per game last year leading his Class 4A team to a state runner up finish.

Sibert saw his stock rise with a strong AAU campaign for the All-Ohio Red juggernaut featuring fellow 2010 Buckeye recruit Jared Sullinger and now finds himself listed as the 18th best overall prospect by Rivals and 3rd best shooting guard.

The 2010 class now stands at five members, three are five stars (Sibert, Sullinger, DeShaun Thomas) with Smith (4) and 6'5 Cameron Wright (3) out of Cleveland. Matta's next target is fellow AAU All-Ohio Red stud Adreian Payne, a 6'9" baseliner from Dayton. He's like Hansel, he's so hot right now. (Am I supposed to believe I'm the only one who thinks Zoolander deserved a Oscar?)

Draft Express posted their top 5 Big Ten pro prospects. Not so surprisingly, Evan Turner holds down the #2 spot though I was definitely shocked to see David Lighty in the #3 hole.

OSU recently unveiled the Schott's new fancy scoreboard and a 970 foot LED board ringing the rowdy confines of the suite level. Bob Baptist also has the details on the new practice gym set to be built on to the west side of the Schott.

You planning on watching the game around campus?

There is a big screen at the Varsity Club bar on lane avenue and a big screen at the Hineygate place by the Holiday Inn on lane.

The new Buffalo Wild Wings on the corner of High and Lane should be packed with honeys and wingys.

we'll get there around 10 looking to drink and find a spot to watch the game. BW3 sounds like a decent option because a couple of the guys will want to watch some other games as well. and honeys are always good. were talking 20 guys between 23-28.

The problem with the other "big" tailgates is the price of beer and the limited selection. At least BW3 is right in the middle of it all and they probably won't try to gouge you for prices.

It's soooooo hard to think hoops in September.

Thanks for the update though. Its good to know Thad is providing something to look forward too post football season.

Your long national nightmare of anonymous posters should be over.

Sorry 'bout that.

Is Cahoots on Henderson still open? I know they had televisions, and plenty of other things at which to gawk. A lot of the campus girls used to "work" there.

A pox on all your houses for worrying about the finer sex during a Buckeye Football game. What are we, Wolverines? Next thing you know we'll be shaking our keys as a cheer in the Shoe.

Really? Wolverines think about the opposite sex?

I suppose they'd think about almost anything to distract them from the train-wreck that is their current football program.

if you are campus, i would reccommend going to "luckys" on south campus on high street. plenty of room and youll actually get to watch the game, as opposed to VC and HG where its just a drunk fest and no one gives a shit about the game. not that i have anything against being drunk. hell, im drunk right now.

just kidding.

or am i?

If you are "coming back" then you are an old foggie and you need to go to Hiney Gate and really get into the Danger Brothers covers of FogHat. And there are plenty of pretty ladies at Hiney Gate, though they trend more towards MILF than COED.

Full Disclosure: I went to Hiney Gate for the '02 michigan game. After the game I walked back to my house in Clintonville and promptly passed out. My wife still gives me shit for that.

I actually went to Capital and NKU down here near cincy. My parents grew up in Columbus though. Point is, most of us havent been to Colombus for a LONG time. I dont care that Minny is undefeated either, I expect a lopsided score. That way I wont have to remember anything, just that we won!

"(Am I supposed to believe I’m the only one who thinks Zoolander deserved a Oscar?)"

- I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking. And I plan on finding out what that is.

- Or did you think I was too stupid to know what a eugoogooly was?

- Mugatu is so hot right now he could take a crap, wrap it in tinfoil, put a couple fish hooks on it and sell it to Queen Elizabeth as earrings.

- How can we be expected to teach children to learn how to read if they can't even fit inside the building?

- SHUT UP! Enough already, Ballstein! Who cares about Derek Zoolander anyway? The man has only one look, for Christ's sake! Blue Steel? Ferrari? Le Tigra? They're the same face! Doesn't anybody notice this? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills! I invented the piano key necktie, I invented it! What have you done, Derek? You've done nothing! NOTHIIIING! And I will be a monkey's uncle if I let you ruin this for me, because if you can't get the job done, then I will!

Without question, this is clearly Oscar-worthy material.

Chris:

No problem. I'll forever have the back of someone who taught Hansel how to take his underwear off without having to remove his pants...wait a minute...did you want me to keep that to myself?

Zoolander is CLASSIC

'I've got the black lung, Pop'
'Mer-MAN'
'I've got a prostate the size of a honeydew and a head full of bad memories'
'Put a cork in it, Zane' - I still yell that at every movie with Billy Zane in it.

My bad CL i saw it after i entered it, i should have known JP dont know basketball watch the white boy play my bad CL. Unfortunately Matta is the best coach at OSU not hating on Tress its the truth undertalented over excelling is what the basketball team does unlike a football that underachieves.
