fwifyw, we appreciate you coming to us for your doses of "narrow-minded dumbassery", but the truth is this is a preseason poll ballot. None of us know how good these teams are going to be. Guessing out how good they may be, we don't see any of the teams listed 10-16ish or so losing to BYU on a neutral field. From there, we're talking a couple of spots here or there, but we'll find out soon enough.

Vico, thanks for the clarification on Auburn's home success. I always hear how loud and intimidating Jordan-Hare is, but will defer to your knowledge of all things Alabama.

It could be the Tuscaloosa locals getting my ear, but Auburn is NOT tough to play at home (save for LSU, who can't beat them there). The Tigers made Reggie Ball look like a Heisman QB in 2005, they got slapped around by Georgia and Arkansas in 2006 and lost to Mississippi State and USF in 2007 (should've lost to Kansas State as well). A lot of people are high on the Tigers (of the Auburn variety), but with the new offensive coordinator installing the spread mumbo jumbo and losing Boom Motherf*cker to Texas, I just don't see what the big deal is. The transition on offense should be easier, but if they're so highly rated it's only because of association: They play in the SEC (ESS-EEE-CEE! and so on and so forth) and they play in the SEC West, where there are lots of question marks (skillplayers and signal-calling for LSU, absolute lack of talent for Ole Miss and Arkansas, lightning striking twice for Mississippi State and Alabama having John Parker Wilson, no receivers or linebackers and about 14 scatbacks).

If your 1 and 2 meet in a bowl, they both will figure out a way to lose.

Not many reasonable people thought Hawaii had a chance. Boise State? Maybe. That Colt Brennan-led Hawaii team? Nope.

I'd stick BYU in the top fifteen, then wait to see them play a big game against a major power.

I didn't read the entire post but I see that you have your doubts about BYU and mid-majors and blah-blah-blah. So they set them back? This is the type of narrow-minded dumbassery that college football can do without. While I know Bob Stoops is not held in the highest regard these days, Boise State did win the Fiesta a few years ago. So a loss by a Hawaii team that no reasonable person thought had a chance is the end-all? I couldn't give less of a shit about BYU, but come on.
