LinebackerU#2? Are You kidding me. Laurainitis was the 4th best linebacker in the conference last year at best. Behind Connor, Lehman, and Lee. Also, he completely disappeared in big games. Please name another university with as many All Americans and Academic All Americans as Penn State has at the linebacker position. Jack Ham, Greg Buttle, Dennis Onkontz, Shane Conlan, Brian Gelzheiser, Brandon Short, Lavar Arrington, Paul Posluznuy, Dan Connor, and Sean Lee just off the top of my head. Bring on Miami, Illinois, USC and Ohio state on this one. Lavar Arrington said Penn State IS Linebacker U, and thats why he went there and anybody else is just a wannabe.

There is a new commercial they have started airing on BTN where all the coaches are trying to recruit “you” and Joe Pa makes me laugh every time I watch it… It may be proof that he’s finally lost it.

The “medium” opinion of the fan base is that both Royster & Green start with Royster getting 2/3 of carries pounding inside & Green “going to the house” on the outside. Fan base is also split on Clark & Devlin starting at QB, but Clark is arguably better suited for running a spread offense. I believe your assessment of short passes to receivers & hoping for YAC is accurate.

We also believe that the first four games (3 cupcakes + Oregon State) will give us an opportunity to work out the kinks before facing Illinois at home at night = electric atmosphere.

I go either way on p*nn st*t*. I can see them going 9-3, or 10-2; I can also easily see them going 5-7, 6-6 or 7-5.

I think the post correctly points out the importance of the Illinois game. That game likely tells us much of what we’ll want to know about both teams.

The spread look intrigues me, but it’s Jay Paterno running it, and I can’t imagine that Joe Pa’s Mini-Me can possibly engineer an innovative, effective offense with the tools they have available. Defensively, I think they’re in deeper trouble on the D-line than the post admits, but we’ll find out soon enough, I suppose.

I rather enjoy the dynamic we have with p*nn st*t*: close, hard-fought games in Happy Valley (generally), and blowouts here in Columbus (generally). I like that.

So, what’s the fanbase think of Stephon Green? Might he grab the starting RB spot at some point? Or does it even matter assuming Royster will still get plenty of carries?
