He will coach the Buckeyes as long as he feels it is the best thing for the team. I believe we have at least 10 more years of Coach Tressel.

Jimmy T would make a hell of a politician. I’d vote for him even if he was running as a Baathist. Thing is, coaching is all his family knows and loves.

i’d vote for the dude in a second if he wants to get into politics (although i think someone asked him about that once and the answer was a pretty emphatic “HELL NAW”), but i bet his aspirations don’t go much farther than finding some time to enjoy with his family. he’ll probably go for another 6 or 7 years and call it quits

Whoops – he’s 55. Still not so young that 10+ years more of coaching would probably be too many for a coach that wants to do something else.

I’d be willing to bet that Tressel’s NOT on the sideline for the Buckeyes-Vols games. Everybody jokes/whines about how he can say less in more words than a roomful of lawyers, “Senator”, etc…have any of you considered that he might ACTUALLY WANT to be Governor/Senator some day? And that he’s already in his late 50’s? And what the implications of the success of his book might be – hell, maybe even his reasons for writing/compiling it?

That’ll be a tough day for me as an Ohio voter.

If Jim Tressel pulls a Joe Paterno, that’d be fine be me.

“I don’t know, many 3 or 4 more years.” 30 years later, guess who’s still on the sideline. Well unless he punches an opposing player (in Woody’s defense, the dude was wearing a helmet).

I hear Alabama fans saying the same thing about Bear Bryant everyday.

Tressel is 55 and I will not even begin to think about the next OSU coach until JT is 62. Think happy thoughts and don’t grieve what will be. Live in the moment, soak up all that Coach Tressel offers, and know that his best is yet to come.

Spielman has already swung and missed for the job. And while I love the hell out of him, he’s too reactionary to be a head coach. I think I remember him talking about punching Henton’s eyeballs out after the hooker incident.

Fickell is an interesting choice. I’d never heard that before, but it makes some sense.

Spielman wa the head coach of the Columbus Destroyers for a season and has since decided he did not want to go back into coaching (per comments he has made in the past on his radio show.)

It will be Dantonio or someone who has not shown up on the “hot names” list yet.

But I’d love to see us get Eddie George in there coaching our backs after the older Tressel hangs it up…….although I have no complaints with him at this point either.

Stanley Jackson won’t be old enough or have enough experience (but I always thought he would make a good coach somewhere).
