I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss Utah. They’re doing just fine for themselves. They’d already be hungry to beat Michigan in the Big House, but given that they know it’s possible (App. State last year, Rodriguez as new coach, 3 returning on offense, etc.) I’ll bet Utah makes it at least very close.

What is this? Suck up to Michigan time?

Michigan was 7-5 in just 2005. Hell they weren’t far off last year. All of a sudden that have no returning starters and they are supposed to do better?

I hope all the risks they take come back and bite them in their 6-6 ass.

I’m sure McGuffie will be good and so on and so forth, but I’d be surprised if RichRod and staff actively encourage the acrobatics. Everyone is bigger and better at the college level, and while that high-flying stuff might work once in a while, there’s going to be an awful lot of egg on the staff’s face when someone catches him and powerbombs him to the turf.

yeah, im not too concerned with mcguffie. most of his highlights are him literally jumping over white high school DBs. id like to see him try that nonsense on a linebacker from ohio state / penn state / wisconsin with tats and an apostrophe in his first name.

Michigan will be really interesting to watch this year. Sure they are not going to contend for a B10 title, but they have some players and nobody know what ole’ DickRod will do in terms of strategy and playcalling.

Sam McGuffie has some pretty crazy highlights from high school. He could be a stud, or a bust.

I do think Rodriguez will eventually force a change of coaching strategy in the B10 to adjust for his brand of offense.

You pretty much know what you’re going to get with every team in America except for scUM. It’s just going to be a wait and see with them because of all of the questions.

i agree, rodriguez will probably take as many chances as he can given that his personnel on offense is pretty miserable. they’re talented enough on defense to takeon most of the schedule, and the OSU game is always a tossup no matter what the records are (although man, losing to michigan at home with the kind of team we have seems really, really unlikely)

i think 7 or 8 wins is a lot more likely than some people think

Michigan will have a winning record this year. They have too much talent recruited over the years to lose to teams like Utah. They were hampered by Lloyd Carr overly-conservative play calling. It does a huge disservice to the Big Ten for either Michigan or Ohio State to fall to far behind as both teams need each other to push themselves into the national spotlight.
