Spring Game Blackout

UPDATE: The BTN must have added another C-64 to their cluster because the game is now flowing smoothly. Additionally, Bucknuts is live-blogging the game and 1460 has a radio feed you can grab.

If you live out of state, like myself, or are otherwise unable to attend the spring game in person, you had hoped to be able to turn to the BTN’s website for a live telecast of the event. And then your hope turned to frustration when you realized the network was hosting the game on a Commodore 64 in the basement of their Park Ridge operations.

If you do manage to get the game up in your browser, here are the rosters to help you follow the action:

Offense
  Scarlet Gray
WR Brian Hartline, Ray Small, Jake Stoneburner Dane Sanzenbacher, Taurian Washington, Devon Torrence, Grant Schwartz
TE Rory Nicol, Brandon Smith Jake Ballard, J.D. Larson
OT Alex Boone, J.B. Shugarts Bryant Browning, Andrew Miller
OG Connor Smith, Evan Blankenship Zach Slagle, Chris Malone, Kyle Mitchum
C Jim Cordle Andrew Moses, Scott Sika
QB Todd Boeckman, Antonio Henton Joe Bauserman, Antonio Henton
FB Curtis Terry, Austin Spitler Spencer Smith
RB Boom Herron Maurice Wells, Brandon Saine
Defense
  Scarlet Gray
DE Thad Gibson Solomon Thomas
DT Nader Abdallah Todd Denlinger
DT Doug Worthington, Dexter Larimore Bryan Gray
DE Cameron Heyward, Mark Ingham Lawrence Wilson, Mark Johnson
WLB Brian Rolle, Jermale Hines Tyler Moeller
MLB James Laurinaitis, Austin Spitler Etienne Sabino
SLB Curtis Terry Marcus Freeman, Ross Homan, Andrew Sweat
CB Chimdi Chekwa, James Scott Malcolm Jenkins, Andre Amos, Donald Washington
S Anderson Russell, Nate Oliver, Eugene Clifford Kurt Coleman, Nick Patterson, Aaron Grant, Rocco Pentello

With so many players out (Beanie, Robo, Rehring, Person) and the funky format, it won’t necessarily be a great game to watch, but from the perspective of seeing who’s looking hot, the game can be a goldmine.

The Vest mentioned that the troubled three should see action, although “not as much as they would like”. The Buckeyes are hosting a ton of recruits, including LiC. For a pretty good breakdown on who’s coming and what it may mean, head over to Our Honor Defend.

If you are at the game, let’s hope the weather cooperates. Right about now, it doesn’t look like it’s going to. That is, if “definite light rain showers” means the same thing to you as it does to me.

  1. Corey says:

I was nervous this was going to happen, this BTN is a joke.

  2. vico says:

you can imagine how thrilled Gabby and I are about this. Now we might have to go to our company picnic.

    f*ck! oh well.

  3. Jason says:

It’s pretty f-ing sad, but like Corey, I had a feeling this would happen.

I’m pretty sure Saine just broke off a 147-yard TD run, but I have no way of knowing this happened, of course.

Vico, have fun at the picnic and try not to act too surprised if you meet another young mother of two.

  4. Matthew says:

The BTN continues its rep of being an absolute joke of a network.

    Bush league garbage here.

  5. Matthew says:

At least the radio coverage is good with Paul Keels as always.

  6. Jason says:

TB had an underthrown interception on his first series of the day. Awesome.

To his credit (I guess), it was supposedly a hell of a play by Coleman, a guy that dropped quite a few picks last season.

  7. Boeckman Fett says:

Nice bomb from Washington. Not sure why he didn’t see more action last year.

  8. Jason says:

I agree on the Washington sentiment. Boeckman’s first half numbers were actually quite nice (12/17) aside from the two INTs. Hartline is really emerging this season. Gonzo’s legacy of skilled white-boy receivers lives on.

  9. Corey says:

How about Bauserman’s 3-3 for 65 yards and 1 TD? We could see he and Washington have a big second half.

  10. tampa buckeye says:

im getting tired of boeckman already, and don’t see us winning it all with him at qb. Unless the defense is lights out. However with beanie and co. he needs to hold on to the damn ball for his offense.

  11. Matthew says:

Calm down, Tampa Buckeye. It’s still just a scrimmage.

  12. BuckeyeChief says:

Ummm…Gonzo was Cuban, thus the name “Gonzalez”…but good to hear about Hartline!

  13. Matthew says:

Gonzo has whiter skin than Hartline.

  14. Jason says:

Yeah, I know Gonzo is Cuban. Should have gone with “non-black” instead of “white-boy” above.

    Boeckman still scares me.

  15. Poe McKnoe says:

Yea I don’t think there was any semblance of the actual starting offensive line.

But then again, I have one question for the coaches and Boeckman…

It seems like he always throws it to where the guy is, not where he’s going. These bombs to the center of the field, if he just throws it up to the opposite side of the defenders, he’s golden.

He always seems to be a little late on the passes, especially the INTS. Does look like he has better zip on this passes, so far.

That being said, I love check downs. I mean, my god, all you need is positive yardage. Do it, Todd.

  16. tampa buckeye says:

i know its just a practice game but come on. The guy just isn’t that good Bauserman(spell check) looked like the better qb to me. Boeckman sucks under pressure when joe gets rushed he will take off with the ball.
Also the d-line looks much improved but that maybe because the oline is banged up a bit.
All im saying is anyone but boeckman please!

  17. generaldm says:

Can we at least wait until halftime of the YSU game before the Boekman hatin’ starts? I thought he looked much improved in the short to intermediate game. His throws were accurate and had nice zip and touch. Both of his INTs could have been broken up by Hartline, who looked like he was waiting for the ball to fall in his arms. All the receivers need to work on going after the ball. Also, Coleman and Homan did make impressive reads.
I was definitely impressed with Bauserman. He looked like he was out there to win. The pass rush affected all of the QBs, TB and JB handled it pretty well. I would guess that Bauserman would be the #2 if the season started next Sat. I missed most of the 1st Qtr, but it seemed that Saine and Herron didn’t get many carries. Anyone know why? I liked what I saw from Herron. Quick to get up to the line and keeps churning the legs. This could be a very special rushing team.
Anyway, this was just a taste of what we’ll see in the fall when the entire 1st teams are on the field together. Looking forward to another good season. Go Buckeyes!

  18. tampa buckeye says:

I agree the receivers need to fight for the ball but when your running full speed down field that is hard to do. Bauserman arm is much stronger than Todd’s. Im guessing saine didn’t get much work because they are saving him for the games that count. We didn’t run the pony at all which i was hoping to see but don’t believe we will until USC. I’m not giving up hope boeckman will start to lead that deep ball better its just hard to watch time and time again. He does throw a good out and slant ball.

  19. Woody84 says:

I didn’t see Saine get many touches as well. I wonder why.

I do agree that Bauserman looked fantastic and there could be a small QB controversy brewing. Wait until Pryor gets thrown into the mix.

  20. idiot says:

can someone explain LiC to me?

  21. Principal Skinner says:

    Lebron in Cleats

  22. idiot says:

    thanks

  23. Poe McKnoe says:

    Bauserman looked good, not fantastic.

Boeckman’s your man and he still has 4 months to go.

  24. Tyler says:

    Darrell Givens is a Buckeye.

And Boeckmen looked good today. Only one mistake (the second int was his fault), and he looked comfortable moving around the pocket.

    YPC was 12 or so.

    YPA was 8.1 or so.

    Good stats.

  25. vico says:

Nice pickup for the Bucks today in Givens. Nice surprise too. God I wanted him. And now I have him.

  26. tampa buckeye says:

Bauserman is a better qb than boeckman period. They need to give him a look. Henton is done he looked like a freshmen today, his transfer request will be in the fall after Pryor puts him 4 deep at qb. D-Line looked good thats a good sign if we are going to win it all.

  27. frosty says:

    I used to love playing “4th & Inches” on my C 64.

  28. Dan Isaacs (Most of these wre typed as lowercase letters) says:

    ASCII Porn…ah, the C64…
