RANDOMOSUFAN,

I count fast. I also copy and paste in to Word even faster.

And you hurt my feelings! I like my blog! At no point did I attempt to recreate the magic that Eleven Warriors has, because they are far and away the best Ohio State blog. However, if you are bored and 11W hasn't updated at that exact minute, I think mine can be a good read (especially if you're bored).

Let's bring this back to the actual topic at hand...

Joe Fox,

Such bitterness abound. 550 words in a blog comment? Did somebody touch a nerve?

I made no comments about Joe Bauserman's abilities whatsoever...You said "highly touted prep quaterback" and "a big catch for OSU". If you replaced Bauserman with Terrelle Pryor in that context, then I'd agree. And he could very well be a better QB than Pryor.

Conference in Albuquerque = Spring Practice in Columbus?

You know this!!

"I do have a problem with your statements. I question your knowledge with such statements as 'He was a big catch for OSU, before he chose baseball.' except he was a 3 star Rivals.com QB, ranked 22nd in the nation. "

Armchair scouts fascinate me. Please don't tell me that you find the Rivals rankings to be correlative to success on the D-I level. For every five-star recruit you can show me who did well at OSU, I can show you one who didn't see much time. And I can show you a plethora of supposed, three-star "'tweeners" who went on to spectacular careers at OSU, and a host of other schools.
By your rationale, OSU would not have offered either Troy Smith or A.J. Hawk. Poe, if OSU offers you a job scouting, do us all a favor and turn it down, for the sake of the program.

"Scout went even further, at the time, to say 'While most of the Bucknuts are begging Jim Tressel and his staff to offer Kentucky signal caller Brian Brohm, what they got was a relative unknown who transferred to Tallahassee (Lincoln) from a small school in Virginia.'"

First of all, Brohm was a legacy at Louisville, and it was widely known that Louisville was where he was going to play, in order to follow in his father's and brother's footsteps. Even OSU can't just waltz into anyone's house and offer them a scholarship. You choose those recruits *whom you believe you have the best chance to land*, and can help your program, and you concentrate all your efforts on them. There are too many recruits out there to have a shotgun, "let's hope for the best" approach. That's not how recruiting works.
Secondly, Bauserman was a solid "get" for the program *at the time,* because the coaches wanted to make an effort to recruit new positions in Florida. They hadn't had much luck wooing quarterbacks there, and Bauserman showed them that they could go into Florida and get a talented guy to come north.
*Go to practice*, watch Bauserman's progress since the week of the Illinois game, and tell me if he doesn't throw a much better ball than Henton. It's not perfect, of course, but he's more accurate, with better arm strength and accuracy - especially on the throws that count. He won't create much with his feet, but he can move in the pocket, and he's developing patience. The guy's been playing baseball for a few seasons, and it takes time to get things back in the groove - presuming you ever get it back (ask Drew Henson). On the other hand, if you don't want to go to practice and watch for yourself, you could just rely on a years-old Scout report. Puh-leeze.
*Watch Henton in practice.* Henton is erratic, impatient, but a strong presence in the huddle. The players like him. That may remind some folks of a young Troy Smith, but Smith could make key throws that Henton apparently can't, and I'm just not sold that Henton's accuracy problems are fixable.

"Joe Fox=Joe Bauserman?"

Um.... no. I'd be prepping for practice now, instead of being stuck at a conference in Albuquerque.

Poe McKnoe = Some guy hawking subscriptions to Scout?

I never said he was going to start but he has to get snaps. Maybe Boeckman makes a jump this year, but he scared the bejezus out of me every time he dropped back to pass the last 3 games.
