This is a few days old already, but if you haven't seen it, you're in for a shock. Actually, you're probably not. At any rate, turn the volume down or hit the headphones up before you listen because these fine gentlemen make the Michael Richards incident look like a slip of the tongue.
Feel free to draw your own conclusions about which type of environment is better for you as a student-athlete, Mr. Fine Southern Recruit.

without painting too broad a stroke (racism is an implicit problem everywhere for everyone), I can faithfully say that from a few years of living down here in the South (and I do mean the South), what you saw is almost par for the course down here. Again, the mindset of "they don't have homes? well why don't they get a job?" is very real, and you can sense that from one of the guys saying that the transitional home people should find a newspaper and open the classified section.
what made this even more grossly hilarious is the in-your-face misogyny at the end when the woman interviewing them starts to push back ever so slightly. If the racism wasn't enough, the bullying the woman interviewing them put it over the top.
same fans also bring yellow and purple confederate flags to games too: http://media.www.southerndiges... . I'm sure LSU's PR department can't be pleased with this new video.
This is 2008 right?
SEC! SEC! SEC!
Wow. I'm sure these same opinions are shared by enough people in Ohio, too. Everywhere, unfortunately. But damn, if those guys can't appreciate that they are saying those things about the players they cheer...that's astounding.
Dan, you're right. Trash comes from every corner of this country, unfortunately. But it some parts, it's more prevalent, no?
Of course racism is still everywhere in this country. It's still the strongest in the South, however.
One of the first things an LSU fan, who was around my age (mid to late 20's), said to me when I got to New Orleans was: "If you live down here you'd hate these N***** too!"
I'm sure you can figure out what the word was.
Stay classy SEC, stay classy.
Actually, I'm trying to decide whose mindless stupidity and disconnection to reality is worse: the woman asking the questions or the drunks answering them.
Ok..... now I understand--- the SEC is far superior to every other conference. Wow!!! they must really do an excellent job of eductaion at those fine SEC schools....... especially in minority studies.... Those rednecks don't know that more white people are on the welfare roles than those of
color----- I'll bet half those guys in the video don't have regular jobs and/or get some kind of public assistance..... but they can still afford their beer!!!!
SEC--SEC---SEC---SEC
"Those rednecks don’t know that more white people are on the welfare roles than those of color—–"
Should I point out the statistical fallacy here, or does someone else want to pitch in?
Joe-- I am pitching in the most current factual information I can find,,,,,,, Sure, a larger number of blacks are on the welfare roles by percentage of race, but the total numbers show that welfare roles are made up mostly of non-blacks. Wake up--this is 2008!!! There are many reasons for this and no one can justify being a racist a-hole.
MYTH: Most welfare recipients are black.
REALITY: In this case, blacks and whites are about equal.
Myth: People on welfare are usually black, teenage mothers who stay on ten years at a time.
Fact: Most welfare recipients are non-black, adult and on welfare less than two years at a time.
Summary :
According to the statistics, whites form the largest racial group on welfare; half of all welfare recipients leave in the first two years; and teenagers form less than 8 percent of all welfare mothers.
Race
--------------
White 38.8%
Black 37.2
Hispanic 17.8
Asian 2.8
Other 3.4

I think we can thank Republicans, specifically Ronald Reagan for the imagery of the black welfare queen. Indeed, the GOP's use of this imagery for the last 30 years was intended to tap into the racism we witnessed on the clip here. Rest assured none of those guys will be voting for Hillary.
I think you could go to any sporting event in Boston and hear the same opinions. Plenty of guys tailgating at Yankee Stadium, too. As a matter of recruiting advantage, I'm willing to allow that racism is more prevalent in the South. But I honestly don't think it is.
