Scoonie thought he was the best player on the team and that is what cost the Buckeyes in my opinion. "Cookie dough" El Amin tore it up while Scoonie clanked shots all over the place. UConn was a much better overall team so it probably wouldn't have mattered, but if I remember correctly Scoonie took more shots than Redd in that game.

He was always my favorite Buckeye. He was the only reason to watch the games during his freshman year. That year helped him develop and realize you can only go as far as your team can take you. It made me realize he had unlimited potential. His success always hinged on developing a consistent outside jumper. I'm not surprised at his success in the NBA because it is "1 on 1" league, but I am surprised he developed into a prolific three point shooter.

It would've been sweet if Redd would've signed with the Cavs a few years back. That way us Cavs fans wouldn't have to endure the brittle Larry Hughes. But you gotta respect a guy who resigns with the team who drafted him. Yes, the Bucks were able to offer him the most money too...I'm sure that didn't hurt their chances.

Back at OSU, Redd wasn't even the best player on the team, that was Scoonie Penn. When UConn shut Scoonie down in the final four, OSU was done. Redd commented afterwards that he realized that he needed to learn to shoot like Richard Hamilton. Back in those days, Redd's game was all about driving to the hoop.

I don't think Redd was underrated in college, I think he has gotten much better since. Congratulations to him.

I freely confess that I didn't think much of Redd in college. I thought he was vastly overrated - a good player, but not much more.

As much as I dislike the NBA and everything it stands for (we'll set aside what it's done to the game of basketball) Redd is an awful lot of fun to watch. I guess if I have to watch an NBA game, he's one of the four or five guys I'd like to see on the court, in person.

I think Redd has been underestimated his whole career. Coach Ayers even recruited Kenny Gregory harder than he did Redd.
