Nuge!!! (AP Photo: Bill Kostroun)The Buckeye NFLer of week 11 goes out to Mike Nugent of the New York Jets. Nugent connected for one extra point as well as 4 field goals (25, 19, 28, and 38 yards) as the Jets downed the Pittsburgh Steelers 19-16 in OT. Nuge's 38 yard FG in OT was the game-winner.
In his 3rd season in the NFL, Nugent has connected for 17 of 22 FG attempts as well as all 17 extra point attempts. In his short career as a pro, Nuge has made 63 FGs in 77 attempts for an 81% average.
Nugent still holds or shares 22 Ohio State records, most notably the Buckeyes' record for points scored with 356. He was also the 2004 Lou Groza Award winner for college football's best placekicker.
The New York Jets selected Nugent in the 2nd round (47th overall) in the 2005 NFL Draft.

You're killin' me.
Believe me, it pains me as well. I'm Steelers fan too, but Nugent deserved it. The Steelers need to learn how to play on the road and stop playing to the level of their competition. Otherwise, they aren't going anywhere this year. They've looked pathetic versus Arizona, Denver & the Jets now. And none of those teams have winning records.
GO BROWNS!
Makes ya wonder how they're gonna look against the Pats.
I figured you didn't sleep well over this decision, I know you were hoping for Ben Hartstock's career game last night. It is good to see the Steelers lose!
Yeah, neither Hartsock or Nickey did a damn thing. Is "The Strangler" Robert Reynolds still around?
I was a big fan of this site until you named a guy who beat my Steelers as your NFLer of the week. That stinks. Thanks for rubbing it in, and making my daily visit here miserable.
I'll never visit this site again, at least until tomorrow.
Joe, I'm sorry. I'm a Steelers fan too. But they should be embarassed for this loss. No way should they have lost to the Jets. If the Steelers want to go anywhere, they need to play better against these bad teams as well as on the road. Obviously, the road to the Super Bowl will probably go through New England.
No question about that. I'd offer a counter-argument, if I could.
