BlogPoll Ballot: Week 8

It wasn't nearly as bad as the past couple of weeks, but the 2007 football season still feels as if Hunter S. Thompson is at the wheel. Strike that. Hunter S. Thompson after he smoked a joint composed of Jim Morrison's ashes that were soaked in mescaline.

The Buckeyes are still our number one, although LSU will more than likely get more than it's share of BlogPoll love later this week. The hits keep on coming.

There are quite a few big games this week: Boston College at Virginia Tech on Thursday, Cal at Arizona State, USC at Oregon, Florida at Georgia and the Buckeyes revisiting the site of their last regular season loss when they take on Penn State in Happy Valley.

As always, you can check the ballots of every voter and the final version is due Wednesday morning, so get your thoughts in by Tuesday night if you think we got it wrong.

1 Ohio State The score didn't reflect the true domination of the Spartans. Happy Valley or bust Saturday night. --
2 LSU This team has the type of magic that NC teams need. Much needed bye week coming up. UP2
3 Oregon The Ducks hung 55 on Washington behind 450+ on the ground. The Trojans come to Autzen this weekend. UP3
4 Oklahoma The Sooners squeaked by hapless Iowa State on the way into a bye week. DOWN2
5 Boston College Enjoyed a bye week before heading into Blacksburg for a huge game this Thursday night. --
6 West Virginia Put up 31 in the first half on the way to a rout of Mississippi State. The Mountaineers are at Rutgers this weekend. UP3
7 Arizona State Had a bye, but welcome a wounded Cal to town this weekend. UP3
8 Florida Tebow looked pretty amazing in the win over Kentucky. Next up: The Game Formerly Known As The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party UP5
9 Kansas The Jayhawks are 8-0 after picking up their first win in Boulder since 1995. UP2
10 Virginia Tech Like BC, Tech also enjoyed a bye prior to the Thursday night matchup. This should be some collision. UP2
11 Missouri Evidently Mizzou's defense can play a little ball as well. UP5
12 USC Irish prove to be the perfect pick-me-up ahead of Oregon trip. UP2
13 South Florida Things don't get much easier for the Bulls. This weekend, they travel to 6-1 UConn. DOWN10
14 Texas It wasn't pretty, but the Horns pulled away from Baylor to move to 6-2. UP3
15 South Carolina The OBC drops his first ever game to Vanderbilt. Practice gonna be a biotch this week. DOWN8
16 Georgia The Dawgs had a bye ahead of welcoming the Gators to town. UP4
17 Cal You lost to Karl Dorrell. Ha-Ha. The Bears are limping into Tempe. DOWN9
18 Virginia UVA pulled off a nail-biter over Maryland.. yet they're 7-1. --
19 Michigan Big win at Illinois without the services of Hart. LLLLloyd is starting to think his job is safe again. up6
20 Kentucky After taking on LSU and Florida back-to-back, Kentucky catches a break in the form of Mississippi State at home this weekend. DOWN5
21 Penn State Evidently, this team thrives off of off-the-field drama. Oh Noes.. the whiteout is near. NR
22 Hawaii Had a bye or we would have found a way to move them down a few more spots. --
23 Alabama Seriously. Is Tennessee any good? Nobody knows. At any rate, Bear Saban gets a crack at his old team this weekend in Tuscaloosa. NR
24 Rutgers If Rutgers ain't the Cinderella, ain't nobody gonna be the Cinderella. West Virginia travels to the near Big Apple this weekend. That should be interesting. NR
25 Auburn Click-clack. You gotta play defense after scoring at the end. Click-clack. DOWN4

DROPPED OUT: Tennessee (#19), Cincinnati (#23), Texas Tech (#24)

I couldn't be more excited about saturday night! It is going to be a great atmosphere for a great game between two great programs! Lets get it on!

No doubt. If the Bucks can score 10 or more, we like our chances.

Tim "TE" Brewster

I realize this has nothing to do with this thread but I couldn't let this one slide. ESPN has a story on TE afficianado Tim Brewster. I read it three times to try and decide if it was a spoof or not. As far as I can tell the story wasn't meant to throw me into uncontrollable laughing. Apparently TightEnd Tim has managed to create quite a "buzz" about his program. It seems he has put a fence around Minnesota and all of the prize football recruits. BrewsTEr has landed 6 of the top 10 football recruits in the state for next season. Sounds great! Sadly, there is only one kid from MN in the top 150...and he has already verbal to an equaly sucky team, ND. If you need a lift, read the article, it really is kinda fun.

"The Buckeyes probably just need to win out to stay on top, but that doesn't mean America would relish the sight of another sketchy Big Ten champ back in a game where it was humiliated last season."
