Finally, some good news about a Buckeye on the roster versus exiting from it. Sophomore to be David Lighty was recently selected to compete in the FIBA U-19 World Championship in Serbia starting July 12th. Eighteen players were invited to tryouts with Lighty claiming one of the final 12 spots along with notables Raymar Morgan of Michigan State and imcoming freshmen Michael Beasley (Kansas State) and DeAndre Jordan (Tex A&M) .

The Plain Dealer reported Lighty saw some action at point guard during the week which is a plus considering OSU's current backcourt situation. Another plus is the continued competition should enable D-Light to build on his rapid development toward the end of this past season. Lord knows his role will expand and Matta's going to need a great season from him if OSU is going to stay near the top of the conference standings.

Team USA won their first exhibition game today 91-75 against the Senior National Sqaud from China. No luck on finding a box score. Partly because I'm too lazy to scour the internet and partly because the team is covered about as well as Paris Hilton's body on a Saturday night. (Photo via Jim Davidson's gallery at The Ozone)
