Vegas 1, Us 0
The annual pilgrimage to Vegas for the opening weekend of March Madness always follows the same pattern. Day One of that pattern is an assault on the sleep and senses as a group of great friends (that get to see less and less of each other) get together to share some laughs, have some cocktails and generally take in as much of this bizarre city as possible. Needless to say, the good times often lead to one too many cocktails, which in turn lead to bedtimes of 7AM. All of that gives us Day Two: hungover old men nursing their gambling wounds.
Saying that, we encourage you to check out more sober Buckeye tournament coverage: The BBC has a recap of the opening round win, while Buckeye Commentary and Around The Oval both take a look at Xavier.
We all know about the Matta/Xavier drama -- a drunken Xavier fan verified the hate right outside the sports book last night. I can understand their pain, but you can't hate on a guy for trying to get a better job. Let's not kid ourselves, Xavier Fan. Ohio State is a better job.
An opening round win over BYU may have taken a little out of them, and their best player is 17 inches shorter than Greg Oden, so we all like OSU giving 7½. The real question is whether we'll have the full crew on hand for the 10AM tipoff tomorrow morning.
