Hoops Nugs

The Buckeye ballers moved up one spot to #4 in latest AP Poll and remained at #4 in the ESPN/USA Today rankings. The top three in both polls include UCLA at #1 followed by Pitt and North Carolina. The Big11Ten is still looking weak with only three teams represented. Wisconsin is #7 in both polls following a solid weekend victory over Marquette behind Alando Tucker's 28 points while Michigan State checks in at #23 in the ESPN/USA poll. Wisconsin and OSU are clearly the class of the conference this season.

Fox Sports' hoops blog has a piece on Greg Oden and how far advanced he is compared to Andrew Bynum, the L.A. Lakers center who turned pro out of high school before David Stern amended the draft rules paving the way for Oden to come to OSU. Gary Waters, head coach of recent victim Cleveland State, correctly asserts that OSU beats UNC if Oden is healthy.

The big man is shooting 91% from the field and averaging 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks.

SI.com has a piece ranking the top 10 coaches under the age of 40. Guess who is listed #1?

Plenty of tickets still remain for this saturday's matchup with the UC Bearcats as part of the Wooden Tradition. Purdue takes on #14 Butler in the 1pm game followed by OSU/UC at 3:45.
