Buckeye NFLer of the Week – 16
Buffalo rookie safety Donte Whitner bags the award this week for his season-high 14 tackle performance in a 30-29 loss to the Tennessee Titans. Whitner’s effort included an astonishing 11 solo tackles.
For the season, Whitner has 94 tackles and one interception and is in the running for Defensive Rookie of the Year along with another former Buckeye, AJ Hawk (115 tackles). Too bad neither of those two have a chance to win the award as Houston Texan linebacker DeMeco Ryans is blowing up with with two 145 tackles on the season. Ryans just turned in a 46 tackle month of December to all but lock it down.

Speaking of Rookie of the Year – the guy who is probably having the best rookie season on offense is Nick Mangold. He will never win, but a rookie center playing as well as he is – that is a pretty tough job with all the line calls and such.
Yeah, he is having a big year. Plus his sister can block for a counter trap.
Holmes has been coming on as of late in Pittsburgh, too.
