More Hurricane Fallout

Lamar Thomas, a television analyst for Miami football games has been fired for comments he made during the brawl between Miami and Florida International. Thomas said the following:

Now, that's what I'm talking about. You come into our house, you should get your behind kicked. You don't come into the OB playing that stuff. You're across the ocean over there. You're across the city. You can't come over to our place talking noise like that. You'll get your butt beat. I was about to go down the elevator to get in that thing.

..and..

I say, why don't they just meet outside in the tunnel after the ball game and get it on some more? You don't come into the OB, baby. We've had a down couple years but you don't come in here talking smack. Not in our house.

Putting aside the fact that a campus 9 miles away cannot be across the ocean, Thomas, a Hurrican wide receiver from 1989 to 1992, at least manned-up to it and apologized. Lord knows what I would say in the booth if a brawl ever broke out between the Bucks and another team, but you can bet I wouldn't pull a Joe Buck. The video with Lamar Thomas color commentary is below. 1:50 is where he takes off.

SI.com also has a pretty good slideshow of announcers gone wild for a trip down foot-in-mouth lane.

Dude, I'm so glad to hear he got fired. I couldn't believe what I was hearing when I first saw this on YouTube the other day. For a brief second I thought someone had actually dubbed in their own commentary for humor!

No doubt. I shudder to think what I would be screaming if it was the Bucks, so I can definitely empathize a little.
