Ohio State’s 2016 recruiting class has generated a lot of buzz this offseason. Rightfully so, of course, as the Buckeyes currently have the No. 3-ranked class according to 247Sports and Scout.com.

But while the 2016 class is grabbing a bunch of headlines, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer and staff are putting together a strong start to the next group in line: the 2017 class.

Scout.com recently released its first Scout 300 for the 2017 class and, to little surprise, the Buckeyes are well-represented. Ohio State currently has six commits in the 2016 class and all six find themselves at some place in the Scout 300.

Let’s take a look at the rankings:

Ohio State Commits In 2017 Scout 300
PLAYER POSITION OVERALL RANK
JOSH MYERS OL NO. 15
SHAUN WADE CB NO. 51
MARCUS WILLIAMSON CB NO. 80
BRUCE JUDSON ATH NO. 181
TODD SIBLEY RB NO. 229
DANNY CLARK QB NO. 242

Josh Myers, the five-star offensive tackle from Miamisburg, Ohio, is the Buckeyes' highest-rated commit thus far in the 2017 class. The 6-foot-6, 290-pound Myers is Scout's fourth-ranked tackle.

Checking in right behind Myers are a pair of cornerback commits in Jacksonville's Shaun Wade and Westerville, Ohio's Marcus Williamson. Wade is listed as Scout's sixth-ranked corner while Williamson is rated 11th at the position in this class. The two give the Buckeyes a strong 1-2 punch at what should be a position of need in this group.

Another Florida recruit, four-star athlete Bruce Judson, checks in next on the list at No. 181 overall. The 5-foot-10, 171-pound Judson is Scout's 15th-ranked athlete in the 2017 class.

The last two Ohio State commits on the list are now teammates at Hoban High School in Akron, Ohio. Running back Todd Sibley checks in at No. 229 overall and is listed as Scout's 20th-ranked ballcarrier while Clark, the four-star quarterback, is Scout's 22nd-ranked signal caller and 242nd-ranked overall prospect.

And while all six commits Ohio State has in the 2017 class can be found in the Scout 300, the Buckeyes still have several targets who find themselves listed, as well. For example, the highest-rated Ohio State targets in the Scout 300 are five-star wide receiver Trevon Grimes (No. 1 WR, No. 7 overall) and five-star defensive end Josh Kaindoh (No. 1 DE, No. 10 overall).

The 2016 group is currently one of the nation's best. And with the way the 2017 group has started, it doesn't seem like the train is going to stop anytime soon.
