The Hurry Up is your nightcap of Ohio State recruiting news, catching you up on the day’s event with an ear on the ground for what’s next.

TYJON LINDSEY EAGER TO HEAR FROM BUCKEYES

The Buckeyes have been linked to a pair of five-star 2017 wide receivers for some time now, but it's not just Trevon Grimes and Donovan Peoples-Jones with interest in Ohio State. Grimes, the country's top-ranked 2017 wideout and DPJ, who checks in at No. 4, could find the country's third ranked wide receiver, Tyjon Lindsey from Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), in the discussion in the near future.

Lindsey has actually spent much of this summer in Ohio; he's got family in Middletown and for the first time has visited the Buckeye state. He has not, as of yet, begun hearing from the Buckeyes.

"I haven't yet heard from the Buckeyes," Lindsey told Eleven Warriors. "But I want to. I love how Ohio State breeds NFL-ready athletes. I've been watching their receivers ever since a friend of mine showed me the way they play. I love what I've heard about them and would love to hear from them."

Although he's been in Ohio this summer, the majority of the schools Lindsey has heard from to this point are out west. That doesn't mean he's got a preference to stay out that way in college. He's eager to attack whatever challenge comes his way.

"I've been hearing the most from Utah, UNLV, USC, Washington and Oregon," Lindsey said. "I'm down for traveling though. If I feel a school is the best opportunity for me, whether it's in the West or the East, I'm taking that opportunity."

One of the reasons the Buckeyes have caught the 5-foot-9, 160-pounder's attention? The offense the Gaels run is very similar to what Ohio State does.

"At (Gorman) they get the athletes the ball quick and rely on them to do something with it, so yes it is (similar to the Buckeyes)," Lindsey added. "Once I touch the ball, I do everything in my will to make a play. I try my best to stay untouched."

CORLEY, MITCHELL FADING AWAY, NIXON CUTS OSU FROM LIST

With wide receiver/tight ends like Austin Mack, Jake Hausmann and Kierre Hawkins in the 2016 class already, and versatile athletes like George Hill and Demario McCall already committed as well, the Buckeyes do not need another wide receiver in this class. That, of course, doesn't mean they don't want one.

For months now the primary target has been Detroit's Donnie Corley, and we've discussed his recruitment at length. The four-star wide receiver has long been associated with Michigan State but sources continue to tell me that Tennessee is perhaps the team that will come away victorious for Corley. A decision could come at The Opening next week and if it does then it's safe to expect Michigan State still to land the 6-foot-2, 195-pounder. If he delays beyond Nike's signature event, that could be very good news for Tennessee or maybe the Buckeyes if he finds a way to get to Friday Night Lights on July 24th. Corley has gone on record saying he is "planning" to be there, but a number of planned trips have previously fallen through and if I were a betting man I'd place a wager he doesn't make it.

Many have wondered if the Buckeyes were chasing a ghost by putting so much time into Corley and felt that Ahmir Mitchell, one of the country's top athletes, should have been the focus instead. For months Mitchell has named the Buckeyes, along with Michigan and Notre Dame, as one of his favorite schools but Ohio State seems to be losing traction and there's some indication that Mitchell may not wait to make a choice as previously indicated. He's expected to make a Southern swing and check out Ole Miss and a few others in the next few weeks but there are some rumblings that a commitment to Michigan could happen before that takes place.

Another 2016 wide receiver that holds a Buckeye offer, Melbourne, Florida's Tre Nixon, cut his list to ten schools last night and Ohio State did not make his final group. Nixon, one of the country's most offered and fastest wide receivers, did include Penn State in his narrowed down list.

GARY DISCUSSES OHIO STATE TRIP WITH RIVALS.COM

The reports from the last trip Rashan Gary and his mother took to Ohio State have been varied, so please forgive me if I allow Rivals.com analyst Adam Friedman's report to focus only on what Gary himself has said.

"That was my third time being up there and it was my mom's second time. I'm glad she came with me to see the place. I was happy to see Larry Johnson and Urban Meyer. I've been building that relationship ever since freshman year. I knew Larry Johnson when he offered me at Penn State. It's the same thing with Urban Meyer. I went up to the Ohio State camp when he first took the job and he gave me the offer. The academics there were good. My mom seemed to like it and it seems like that could be good."

Now, as we've discussed, there's some conflicting information out there about what Gary's mother, Jennifer Coney, actually feels about Ohio State. Still, there's no reason for too much speculation at this point because if the country's top-ranked prospect doesn't get back to Columbus for FNL it's exceptionally unlikely he'll end up a Buckeye, ever. He's not discussed an official visit to Ohio State and I'd be surprised if makes another trip to see the Buckeyes.

JAYLEN HARRIS TALKS BUCKEYES OFFER, UM AND MORE

Ohio State 2017 wide receiver target Jaylen Harris took some time recently to talk to DrichTV.com about his recruiting. Harris has offers from the Buckeyes, Michigan, Tennessee and others.
