Drue Chrisman is now a Buckeye, committing to Ohio State at his school this afternoon.

The country's top punter in the 2016 class, Chrisman was offered a scholarship by Urban Meyer on the last day of March and today, during a visit to Columbus, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound kicker is a Buckeye.

The Chrisman File

  • Class: 2016
  • Size: 6-4/200
  • Pos: P
  • School: La Salle (Cincinnati, OH)
  • Composite Rating: N/R
  • Composite Rank: 1 (P)

Ranked by KohlsKicking.com as the country's top punter in the 2016 class (247Sports.com does not yet have a ranking for specialists in this class), Chrisman chose the Buckeyes over Florida State, Kentucky, Indiana, BYU and UCLA; an exceptional offer list for a punter at this point in the recruiting process.

As a junior at La Salle, Chrisman averaged just under 43 yards per punt on 23 attempts. A devout and practicing Mormon, Chrisman has told 11W previously that if he chose to attend a school other than BYU that he would not take a religious mission, meaning he'd be on campus with the rest of his classmates in the summer of 2016.

With at least a chance of early NFL entry for current Buckeye junior punter Cameron Johnston, adding a punter in the 2016 class became a priority for Ohio State. Fortunately for Urban Meyer and Kerry Coombs, who was Chrisman's primary recruiter, they had the country's best just a two-hour drive away.
