Ohio State's Friday Night Lights commitment train is officially rolling following the commitment of Detroit Cass Tech two-way lineman, Joshua Alabi.

The Alabi File

  • Class 2015
  • Position DL
  • Size 6-5/270
  • School  Cass Tech (Detroit, Michigan)
  • Composite ★★★
  • Rank 63 (OT)

Alabi made the big announcement from the field of Ohio Stadium and joins tight end Josh Moore in pledging for the Buckeyes at the school's annual summer showcase.

A 6-foot-5, 270 pound lineman, Alabi chose Ohio State over offers from Michigan State, Tennessee, Miami, Wisconsin, Michigan and others.

Although 247Sports.com lists the Michigan-native as an offensive line prospect, it's believed he'll most likely line up on the defensive side of the ball for the Buckeyes. He could be a defensive tackle or a defensive end.

This was far from Alabi's first trip to Columbus – he was in town for Ohio State's game against Wisconsin last season, along with four-star running back prospect Mike Weber and current Ohio State freshman Damon Webb – but it turned out to be the biggest one as he abruptly ended his recruitment. His relationship with Ohio State's Kerry Coombs has been a driving force in his interest in the Buckeyes, and tonight it paid off.

Indeed, Alabi is just the latest Ohio State prize from Detroit's Cass Tech, traditionally considered a Michigan "pipeline" school. Webb, one of the state's top prospect while at Cass Tech, was one of the headliners from Ohio State's 2014 class and the Buckeyes also went to Cass for linebacker Marco Cooper (2000) and defensive end Vernon Gholston (2004).

We'll have more from Alabi, Ohio State's newest commitment in the "Elite '15," very soon.
