Important Visitors Highlight Recruiting Weekend

Broken record alert: it's another big recruiting weekend for Ohio State.

Meyer and company's method for recruiting has made virtually every weekend an important one for recruiting. Rather than having designated junior days, the staff attempts to host a few prospects every weekend. While there aren't many prospects visiting this weekend, the quality certainly outweighs the quantity as the Buckeyes have a handful of elite prospects in town.

Meanwhile, there is some big news about the Buckeyes' top QB target and one of OSU's defensive back targets has committed elsewhere.

DeBerry, Burrell enjoying ohio State

A pair of Ohio State's top targets from Virginia, Ricky DeBerry and Matthew Burrell, arrived on campus yesterday. All indications are the visit is going great for both of them.

They have gotten plenty of one-on-one time with Coach Meyer and have spent some quality time with Braxton Miller and Ryan Shazier.

An important factor in Ohio State's favor is them coming together, as they drove to Columbus together. Burrell and DeBerry seem to be know each other fairly well, as they drove to Columbus together. They're from the same part of the country, living about an hour apart, and they're enjoying the campus together – which could be an important factor in the Buckeyes' favor.

The duo stayed in Columbus overnight and are continuing their visit today along with their families. DeBerry has Ohio State in his recently announced top 20, and the Buckeyes are also one of Burrell's top choices. Stay tuned for more on DeBerry and Burrell as they wrap up their weekend visit.

Cincinnati Moeller High School's Elijah Taylor was on campus as well yesterday, though he has been pretty quiet recently. Hopefully more info will come about his visit.

More Big Fish coming

As Jeremy Birmingham reported earlier this week, Brandon Wimbush is not expected to be visiting this weekend. Nevertheless, a few other top prospects are still expected. Although Chris Clark is no longer talking about his recruitment, he is expected to join DeBerry and Burrell this weekend, along with Van Jefferson, Alabama transfer Chad Lindsay, 2016 DE Khalid Kareem and 2016 OL Ben Bredeson.

The Buckeyes offered 2015 TE Miles Boykin just a few days before Clark's visit, so it will be interesting to see what impact it has on this weekend. In addition, a Van Jefferson commitment could be a possibility this weekend; keep your eyes peeled.

Gibson Update

Torrance Gibson announced a top three yesterday; as originally reported by Ryan Bartow of 247Sports, his top three consists of Ohio State, Tennessee and Auburn in no particular orderGibson is planning on naming a leader on May 5th as well.

As Gibson has yet to visit Columbus, don't panic if he doesn't name them his leader. Should Gibson name Ohio State his leader in the coming weeks that would be huge as well, but as things stand the Buckeyes are likely co-favorites or better.

Happy Trails

Four-star defensive back Marcus Lewis committed to Florida yesterday. Lewis held a Buckeye offer and at one point named Ohio State his leader.

The impact of this commitment shouldn't be severe. Lewis was a big time player, but the Buckeyes are in on several elite defensive backs and already have a pair committed in the 2015 class.

Best of luck to Marcus. He's a great kid and has a bright future awaiting him at Florida.
